COOLING SYSTEM FOR CIRCULATING COOLING FLUID THROUGH A COOLING PAD
A cooling system (1) for use in a non-invasive medical cooling process to cool at least one portion of the body of a person (2) by means of a cooling fluid flowing through a cooling pad (3), comprising a first pump 70, a fluid outlet conduit (20), a fluid inlet conduit (40 and;a second pump (80) arranged to pump cooling fluid through a fluid bypass conduit (60) from the fluid inlet conduit (40) to the fluid outlet conduit (20), whereinthe cooling system (1) is arranged such that cooling fluid is transported from the tank (10) to the fluid outlet conduit (20) when the first pump (70) is operated and such that cooling fluid is transported from the fluid inlet conduit (40) to the fluid outlet conduit when the second pump (80) is operated.
Energy harvesting, heat managing, multi-effect therapeutic garment
An energy harvesting, heat managing, multi-effect therapeutic garment, defining an inner surface and an outer surface, seamlessly knitted using a predetermined number of yarns is provided. The yarns for constructing the therapeutic garment are selected from a yarn that absorbs, stores, and releases heat energy through a phase change, yarns that convert heat energy and ultra violet radiation energy into far infrared radiation energy and radiate the far infrared radiation energy to other yarns and to a wearer's body part, a yarn that adsorbs moisture from the wearer's body part and/or ambient environment and generates heat energy through an exothermic reaction, a heat insulting and hydrophobic yarn, and a heat conductive yarn that maintains a uniform temperature within the yarns. The yarns of the therapeutic garment are bundled and knitted to create a uniform surface area distribution of the yarns that contact each other and cover the wearer's body part.
APPARATUS FOR THERMAL THERAPY TREATMENT OF A SELECTED REGION OF THE BODY OF A HUMAN OR OF AN ANIMAL AND METHOD OF OPERATING SAID APPARATUS
The invention relates to a device for use in the thermal therapy treatment of a selected region of the body of a human or of an animal, in particular for use in the treatment of tissue damage after surgical interventions, of injuries, of inflammations and of chronic diseases of the rheumatic type, and in particular for assisting chemotherapeutic treatments, comprising a temperature control device which is provided in order to control a temperature of a temperature control fluid, and a heat transfer device which is arranged to transfer heat to the selected region of the body, wherein the temperature control device is connected, in a fluid conducting manner, to the heat transfer device, and is further arranged to temper the heat transfer device with a heat transferring temperature control fluid flowing through the heat transfer device, and with a control device which is connected to the temperature control device and to the heat transfer device, wherein the control device is arranged to control the temperature control device, in order to cause the heat transfer device to be at least partially at an approximately uniform temperature in the region of a contact surface between the heat transfer device and the selected region of the body to be temperature controlled. The invention further relates to a method of operating the device.
Implantable devices for thermal therapy and related methods
Methods and devices are disclosed herein that generally involve applying thermal therapy to tissue (e.g., localized cooling or heating of tissue), and in particular applying thermal therapy to the spinal canal, tissue disposed within the spinal canal, and/or nerve roots extending from the spinal canal. In some embodiments, tissue can be cooled or heated by implanting a malleable or deformable thermal device in proximity to the targeted tissue. The thermal device can be left in place following surgery to facilitate application of post-surgical thermal therapy. In some embodiments, the thermal device can be removed post-surgery in a minimally- or non-invasive manner. The thermal device can be connectionless or can include penetrable regions, pre-attached tubing, or detachable connectors to facilitate application of cooling or heating means to the device. Methods are disclosed for utilizing thermal devices and for carrying out various treatment regimens that involve cooling or heating tissue using such devices.
Method of treating a stress-related or sleep-related condition
Devices and methods for the prevention and treatment of disorders related to stress and poor sleep are provided. A headgear device is provided that delivers heated water vapor to the crown of the wearer's head, which has been observed to facilitate sleep and reduce the symptoms of stress. Methods of facilitating sleep and reducing stress are provided that involve exposing the crown to heated water vapor. Further embodiments of the device and methods for use thereof provide relief to other parts of the body, such as joints and back muscles.
WEIGHTED MEDICAL BLANKET FOR WARMING AND COOLING
A weighted medical blanket is provided for containing a polymer gel; the device of the invention maintains consistent weight over time and can be warmed or cooled to be applied to patients to provide heating or cooling and can be easily cleaned, reused, and its weight reconstituted through the insertion of water through an insertion valve and insertion sleeve suited to reduce flow out of the device. Disclosed is a method for alleviating post-operative shivering utilizing the device of the invention.
Brace with Removable Aromatherapy Pouch
A brace for treating a portion of a human body, the brace including a brace body including at least one fastener adapted for fastening the brace about the portion of the human body, and an aromatherapy heat-treatment pack removably attachable to the brace body, the aromatherapy heat-treatment pack containing at least one temperature maintaining component and at least one aromatherapeutic component, wherein the aromatherapy heat-treatment pack is adapted to maintain a temperature thereof for a predetermined treatment duration.
Portable Limb, Head, Chest Cooling System
A personal portable cooling system and method which includes a device which rapidly cools the joints, extremities, chest, or head of a given patient and a coolant, such as a can of compressed gas/liquid is disclosed.
Moxibustion device
A moxibustion apparatus includes: a case; a heat storage unit arranged inside the case and including a heat storage material, a heat insulating member covering an outer surface of the heat storage material, an exposed portion exposed to the outside of the heat insulating member, a heating coil embedded in the heat storage material and electrically heated, and a charging terminal that has one side exposed to the outside of the case and is connected to an external power source to provide power to the heating coil; and a moxibustion unit configured to receive heat accumulated in the heat storage material through the exposed portion to locally heat acupuncture points of a user's abdomen, and including a protrusion portion that protrudes to have an end portion thereof formed into a spherical shape or a gently curved shape and is exposed to the outside of the case.
