Cooling apparatuses with physically-powered, mechanical coolant pumps
Apparatuses and methods of fabrication are provided which include a mechanical coolant pump to facilitate pumping a coolant through a coolant loop. The mechanical coolant pump is to couple to an individual and be physically powered by a specified movement of the individual to pump coolant. Coolant pumped by the mechanical coolant pump is circulated by the coolant pump through a device associated with the individual to cool the device.
LOW PROFILE FORCED-AIR BLANKET
The invention includes a forced-air blanket for providing a profusion of air to a patient, comprising a bottom layer with a plurality of openings configured to allow a profusion of air to pass through the bottom layer and an upper layer bonded to the bottom layer around a periphery, wherein the upper layer is also bonded to bottom layer by a plurality of linear seals and a plurality of staked seals. In an embodiment, at least one of more of the linear seals have one end which is joined to a portion of the periphery. In another embodiment, the forced-air blanket may further include at least one elongated seal that is positioned proximate to the inlet. The arrangement of the plurality of staked seals, elongated seals and linear seals assists in providing a blanket that is of a low-profile with even air distribution.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR HEATING LIMB BLOOD VESSELS
Methods and systems for heating limb blood vessels are provided. An example system may include a wearable device comprising a body configured to be disposed on a limb of a user. The wearable device may include a battery disposed within the body. The wearable device may include a heating component disposed within the body and powered by the battery. The heating component includes a heating element configured to cover a portion of a skin of the user, the portion of the skin covering at least one blood vessel of the limb. The heating element can be configured to provide heat to the portion of the skin and of the blood vessel to cause the blood vessel to dilate. The wearable device may include a controller disposed within the body and configured to regulate a temperature of the heating element. The body can be wrapped around the limb.
MAGNETORHEOLOGICAL ELASTOMER AND MAGNETORHEOLOGICAL FLUID FOR CLINICAL WRAP
A reinforcing clinical wrap is provided with integral thermal management. The clinical wrap includes a fluid circuit for a heat transfer medium to circulate between a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A shape conforming medium is disposed within a portion of the clinical wrap providing selective reinforcement support of the portion of the clinical wrap to conform to a surface of a patient. Non-limiting examples of the shape conforming medium may include a magnetorheological elastomer, a magnetorheological elastomer, a magnetorheological foam, a UV curable resin, and a phase change material.
DEFORMABLE THERMAL PACK
Thermal packs including: a pouch containing a thermal source; and a bendable and deformable support attached to or disposed within the pouch, the support configured such that the pouch is deformed into a shape matching a contour of a body part and the pouch is maintained in the shape while applied to the body part by the support, where the support includes members, each of which having a cup at a first end and a ball at a second end, the ball of one of members being rotatably fitted within the cup of an adjacent one of the members; one or more wires encased in a casing or an loop or hook fastener such that a flap, having an other of the hook or loop fastener, extended from the pouch is folded over the support to retain the support adjacent to the pouch.
WEARABLE REHABILITATION AND RELAXATION AID
A wearable rehabilitation and relaxation aid is configured to provide support to an injured area. The wearable rehabilitation and relaxation aid has a pack that is covered by a breathable and washable material. A strap is joined to the breathable and washable material with triple stitching in order to fix the wearable rehabilitation and relaxation aid to the injured area.
Methods and apparatus for adjusting blood circulation
Embodiments of the invention include a method and a device for increasing blood flow and controlling the temperature of a mammal by applying a desired pressure to extremities of a mammal. The device generally includes a pliant body element that is adapted to receive a portion of an extremity of the mammal therein, and then apply a pressure to a portion of the extremity when a pressure is provided to a region in which the extremity is positioned within the pliant body element. By evacuating the region in which the extremity is enclosed, a contact surface area between the extremity of a mammal and the pliant body element is increased, due to the external atmospheric pressure acting on the pliant body element against the skin of the extremity of the mammal. The application of pressure assures that sufficient contact and thermal heat transfer (heating or cooling) is provided to the extremity of the mammal.
Upper Extremity Radial Artery Procedure Support Device And Associated Warming Sleeve
A multi-jointed, upper extremity radial artery procedure support device and associated warming sleeve is disclosed. The support device may function like a human arm and is designed to support both right-sided and left sided interventions. The multi-jointed radial arm support device may allow flexion and extension of a patient's arm at the patient's associated elbow and wrist. The arm-warming sleeve may apply gentle warmth to the patient's arm during a procedure to induce vasodilation of the radial artery, and eliminate a need for vasoactive drugs during radial artery procedures.
Apparatus and method for enhanced HGH generation in humans
A conditioning process for the enhanced production of human growth hormone in a human has a first step of application of pressurized cooling to the limbs of a subject, who experiences a ramp-up exertion followed by a series of conditioning cycles, followed by a ramp-down cycle. The condition cycles include an interval of intense exertion followed by an interval of reduced exertion, and during ramp-up cycle, conditioning cycle, and ramp-down cycle, the pressure cooling to the limbs is set as a fraction of systolic blood pressure, with the fraction in the range 33% to 220%.
Patient warming device with patient access
A patient warming device with patient access for maintaining normothermia and/or treating hypothermia is provided. The device includes a first compliant layer and a second compliant layer sealed together around an outer border to contain a liquid between the two layers and to form a wrap that surrounds and conforms to a body portion of a patient. A plurality of flaps extends from opposite sides of a generally longitudinal central portion of the wrap, such that one or more flaps from the opposite sides fasten to each other to surround the body portion. The flaps are openable during functional use to provide access to an underlying patient body surface. A continuous fluid flow path extends between the first compliant layer and the second compliant layer between a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet to carry liquid and deliver heat through the wrap.
