PROSTHETIC SYSTEM
A prosthetic system includes a liner adapted to receive a residual limb and including an outer surface defining an outlet, and a socket including an interior surface and including an aperture extending from the interior surface to an external atmosphere. A first sealed volume is defined between a first portion of the outer surface of the liner and a first portion of the interior surface of the socket. A second sealed volume is defined between a second portion of the outer surface of the liner and a second portion of the interior surface of the socket. The first sealed volume is fluidly connected to the outer of the liner, fluidly separated from the second sealed volume by a seal element, and is independent from the second sealed volume throughout use of the system.
Prosthetic socket system
A prosthetic socket system includes a socket having an inner surface defining a socket cavity. A liner is adapted to receive a residual limb and be removably positioned within the socket cavity. A substantially sealed volume is defined between at least a portion of an outer surface of the liner and a corresponding portion of the inner surface of the socket. A wicking material is positionable in the substantially sealed volume and at least one cooling fluid can be carried by the wicking material. The at least one cooling fluid is adapted to selectively boil within the substantially sealed volume such that heat from the residual limb is converted into latent heat of vaporization by the at least one cooling fluid for a cooling effect.
Prosthetic system for removing fluid or sweat from inside of a liner with first and second independently sealed volumes
A prosthetic system includes a liner adapted to receive a residual limb and having a liner body formed from an elastomeric material. The liner body defines an outer surface and an inner surface opposite the outer surface. The inner surface includes a first part arranged to form a seal between the liner and the residual limb, and a second part of the inner surface has at least one flow channel arranged for promoting movement of fluid away from a skin surface of the residual limb. An outlet is defined in the second part and extends between the inner and outer surfaces. The at least one flow channel is defined in the elastomeric material forming the liner body and is in fluid communication with the outlet.
PROSTHESIS COOLING SYSTEM
A prosthesis cooling system may comprise one or more thermoelectric cooling devices embedded in a prosthesis socket, a power source, and a power control circuit. The cooling system may use active or passive cooling, and may use a closed-loop temperature control system.
Medical bandage for the head, a limb or a stump
A medical bandage is provided, capable of being rapidly, adjustably, intuitively and universally fitted on a head, limb or stump, for instance to conceal and protect a wound. The medical bandage is cap-shaped, and is formed of several layers, and comprised at least one port for obtaining quick access to a wound concealed by the medical bandage. When open, a port can stabilize a drainage tube, or provide a passage through which to easily and rapidly apply a medicine. The medical bandage can be directly fit on the head or other body part, providing an all-in-one dressing, wrap and treatment, and eliminating the need for cumbersome and difficult to manage gauze roll and multiple bandages of various sizes, shapes, and uses. The medical bandage provides simple, rapid, and effective treatment of emergency trauma wounds, and improved medical treatment of acute or chronic wounds.
Prosthetic limb heating apparatus
A prosthetic limb heating apparatus for use with a prosthetic assembly includes a housing having a side wall that defines open upper and lower ends. The upper end is configured to receive an upper limb portion and prosthetic socket into the housing. The open lower end is configured to allow the upper limb portion to pass therethrough but not the prosthetic socket such that the prosthetic socket is nested in the interior area. An electrically conductive wire is situated on the housing and extends circuitously thereabout, the conductive wire having opposed first and second ends. A battery is coupled to the side wall of the housing and electrically connected to the first and second ends of the conductive wire so as to selectively energize the conductive wire. The conductive wire imparts heat to the prosthetic socket when the socket is nested within the housing and the conductive wire is energized.
PROSTHETIC SYSTEM
Adjustable prosthesis
A prosthesis system includes a reconfigurable socket. The socket changes configurations to adjust the socket fit. The socket includes a socket main body with a window and a panel positioned in the window. The panel and the socket main body cooperate to define a cavity for receiving a residual limb. A lacing system is coupled to both the socket main body and the panel and moves the panel with respect to the socket main body to adjust a volume of the cavity. A tensioning mechanism holds the lacing system to position the adjustment panel. The prosthesis system also allows for the escape of moisture from within the cavity.
Cooling system and method for a prosthetic socket
A prosthetic socket cooling system and method includes a thermally conductive heat spreader including a curved shaped portion configured to maximize contact with a residual limb of a user. A heat extraction subsystem is coupled through a wall of the prosthetic socket and to the thermally conductive heat spreader and is configured to maintain a desired temperature inside the prosthetic socket.
THERMAL SENSING DEVICE AND SENSORY FEEDBACK SYSTEM AND METHOD USING SUCH THERMAL SENSING DEVICE
A thermal sensing device and a sensory feedback system and method using such thermal sensing device. The thermal sensing device including at least one film of electrically insulating polymer defining a global surface of the thermal sensing device and including at least one sensing track of a conducting material exhibiting a change in resistivity with temperature, said sensing track being arranged with a connection to at least one control module receiving the signal of the thermal sensing device as a measure of temperature, wherein said film further includes at least one heating track, powered by said control module to dissipate electrical power into heat within the thermal sensing device and maintain the sensing track at a determined baseline temperature.
