PHENOLIC FOAM AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF
A phenolic foam and method for manufacturing same are described herein. The foam is formed from a foamable phenolic resin composition, and a blowing agent, the phenolic foam comprising 1 to 5% by weight of red phosphorus based on the weight of the phenolic foam wherein said phenolic foam has a density of from 10 kg/m.sup.3 to 100 kg/m.sup.3, a closed cell content of at least 85% as determined in accordance with ASTM D6226 and wherein said foam has a FIGRA.sub.0.2 MJ of 120 W/s or less, when measured according to EN13823 and a thermal conductivity of 0.023 W/m.K or less, at 10° C., in accordance with EN 13166:2012. The foam has excellent thermal insulation performance and excellent fire performance.
BLOWING AGENTS FOR EXTRUDED POLYSTYRENE FOAM AND EXTRUDED POLYSTYRENE FOAM AND METHODS OF FOAMING
Methods, foams and blowing agents for forming for forming extruded polystyrene foam wherein the blowing agent comprises (i) from about 40% by weight to about 70% by weight of one or more HFOs three or four carbon atoms and/or an HFCOs having three or four carbon atoms being selected from the group consisting of 1224yd(Z), 1233zd(E), 1336mzz(Z) and combinations of these; and (ii) from about 30% to about 60% by weight of isobutane, methyl formate and combinations of these.
POLYURETHANE INSULATION FOAM COMPOSITION COMPRISING HALOGENATED OLEFINS AND A TERTIARY AMINE COMPOUND
A polyurethane insulation foam composition is disclosed herein. The polyurethane insulation foam comprises: (i) an isocyanate compound; (ii) an isocyanate reactive compound; (iii) water; (iv) a tertiary amine compound; (v) a hydrophilic carboxylic acid compound; (vi) a halogenated olefin compound; and (vii) optionally, other additives.
USE OF EPOXY COMPOUNDS AS CARBON DIOXIDE SCAVENGERS IN PIR COMPRISING FOAMS FOR SUPERIOR THERMAL INSULATION PROPERTIES
A reactive composition for making a PIR comprising foam at an isocyanate index of at least 120, said composition comprising at least an isocyanate composition comprising one or more isocyanate compounds, an isocyanate-reactive composition comprising one or more isocyanate-reactive compounds, at least one PIR promoting catalyst, at least one physical blowing agent with a lambda gas ≤12 mW/m.Math.K at 10° C., at least one CO.sub.2 scavenging compound selected from at least one epoxy compound, and optionally a catalyst promoting epoxy reaction with CO.sub.2 characterized in that the amount of isocyanate-reactive compounds in the reactive composition is at least 10 wt % calculated on the total weight of the reactive composition, or at least more than the amount of epoxy compounds and the molar amount of epoxy compounds in the reactive composition is at least 7.8 times higher than the molar amount of CO.sub.2 formed by the water present in the reactive composition after reaction with isocyanates.
Blowing Agent Composition of Hydrochlorofluoroolefin
A blowing agent for thermosetting foams is disclosed. The blowing agent is predominately the trans isomer of the hydrochlorofluoroolefin (HCFO) HFCO-1233zd alone or in combination with a hydrofluoroolefin (HFO), hydrofluorocarbon hydrochlorofluoroolefin (HCFO), a hydrocarbon. The blowing agent is effective as a blowing agent in the manufacture of thermosetting foams.
COMPOSITIONS AND USES OF CIS-1,1,1,4,4,4-HEXAFLUORO-2-BUTENE AND CYCLOPENTANE
Disclosed is a thermoset, thermal insulating foams having desirable and unexpectedly low thermal conductivity, and to compositions, method and systems which use and/or are used to make such foams comprising: (a) providing thermosetting foam forming component and a blowing agent for forming predominantly closed cells in the foam, wherein the blowing agent comprises: (i) cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (HFO-1336mzzm(Z)) and cyclopentane, with the HFO-1336mzzm(Z) and cyclopentane in the blowing agent together comprising at least about 50% by weight of the total of all components in the blowing agent and (ii) the weight ratio of HFO-1336mzzm(Z) to cyclopentane in the blowing agent is from about 45:55 to less than 68:32 and (b) forming foam from said provided foamable composition.
Compositions and uses of Z-1-chloro-2,3,3,3-tetrafluoroprop-1-ene
Disclosed is a mixture comprising the compound Z-1-chloro-2,3,3,3-tetrafluoroprop-1-ene and at least one additional compound selected from the group consisting of HFOs, HFCs, HFEs, CFCs, CO.sub.2, olefins, organic acids, alcohols, hydrocarbons, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, and others such as methyl formate, formic acid, trans-1,2 dichloroethylene, carbon dioxide, cis-HFO-1234ze+HFO-1225yez; mixtures of these plus water; mixtures of these plus CO.sub.2; mixtures of these trans 1,2-dichloroethylene (DCE); mixtures of these plus methyl formate; mixtures with cis-HFO-1234ze+CO.sub.2; mixtures with cis-HFO-1234ze+HFO-1225yez+CO.sub.2; mixtures with cis-HFO-1234ze+HFC-245fa; and azeotrope or azeotrope-like compositions. Also disclosed are methods of using the compositions as blowing agents, solvents, heat transfer compositions, aerosol propellant compositions, fire extinguishing and suppressant compositions.
Compositions comprising 2,3-dichloro-1,1,1-trifluoropropane, 2-chloro-1,1,1-trifluoropropene, 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane or 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene
Disclosed are compositions comprising HCFC-243db, HCFO-1233xf, HCFC-244db and/or HFO-1234yf and at least one additional compound. For the composition comprising 1234yf, the additional compound is selected from the group consisting of HFO-1234ze, HFO-1243zf, HCFC-243db, HCFC-244db, HFC-245cb, HFC-245fa, HCFO-1233xf, HCFO-1233zd, HCFC-253fb, HCFC-234ab, HCFC-243fa, ethylene, HFC-23, CFC-13, HFC-143a, HFC-152a, HFC-236fa, HCO-1130, HCO-1130a, HFO-1336, HCFC-133a, HCFC-254fb, CHF═CHCl, HFO-1141, HCFO-1242zf, HCFO-1223xd, HCFC-233ab, HCFC-226ba, and HFC-227ca. Compositions comprising HCFC-243db, HCFO-1233xf, and/or HCFC-244db are useful in processes to make HFO-1234yf. Compositions comprising HFO-1234yf are useful, among other uses, as heat transfer compositions for use in refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems.
THERMALLY INSULATED MEDIUM PIPES HAVING HFO-CONTAINING CELL GAS
The invention relates to a thermally insulated conduit pipe, comprising at least one medium pipe, at least one thermal insulation arranged around the medium pipe, and at least one outer jacket arranged around the thermal insulation, wherein the outer jacket possibly comprises a barrier made of plastic, and wherein the thermal insulation comprises a foam, the cell gas of which contains at least 10 vol% HFOs. Such conduit pipe has good insulating behavior, good environmental balance, and is easily producible.
HCFO-CONTAINING POLYURETHANE FOAM-FORMING COMPOSITIONS, RELATED FOAMS AND METHODS FOR THEIR PRODUCTION
Polyurethane foam-forming compositions, methods of producing polyurethane foams, polyurethane foams produced from such compositions made by such methods, as well as isocyanate-reactive compositions. The polyurethane foam-forming compositions include a polyol blend, a blowing agent composition, and a polyisocyanate. The polyol blend includes an aromatic amine-initiated polyether polyol, a saccharide-initiated polyether polyol, and an aromatic polyester polyol and has a content of —C.sub.2H.sub.4O— units of 3 to 6% by weight, based on the total weight of the polyurethane foam-forming composition. The blowing agent composition includes a hydrochlorofluoroolefin and a carbon dioxide-generating chemical blowing agent.
