Flame-retardant phenolic resin foam

A phenolic resin foam has a density of 30 kg/m.sup.3 to 80 kg/m.sup.3, a closed cell ratio of 85% or more, and reaches a total amount of heat release of 8 MJ/m.sup.2 in a time of 20 minutes or more in a heat release test performed using a cone calorimeter.

Polyisocyanurate Resin Foam Having High Compressive Strength, Low Thermal Conductivity, and High Surface Quality

Disclosed herein is a process for producing rigid polyisocyanurate foams, where (a) aromatic polyisocyanate, (b) isocyanate-reactive compounds including at least one polyetherol (b1) and/or polyesterol (b2), wherein where the number-average content of isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms of components (b 1) and (b2) is at least 1.7, (c) catalyst, (d) blowing agents, (e) flame retardants, (f) optionally auxiliary and additive substances and (g) optionally compounds having aliphatic hydrophobic groups and not falling under the definition of compounds (a) to (f) are mixed to afford a reaction mixture and allowed to cure to afford a rigid polyisocyanurate foam. Further disclosed herein is a rigid polyisocyanurate foam obtainable by the process.

Compositions and uses of trans-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene

Also disclosed are methods of using and products of using the above compositions as blowing agents, solvents, heat transfer compositions, aerosol propellant compositions, fire extinguishing and suppressant compositions.

Multiple immediate pass application of high thickness spray foams

A method of applying a closed cell spray foam insulation may include spraying a first layer of a closed cell spray foam insulation into a wall cavity. A B-side mixture of the closed cell spray foam insulation may include a polyol blend having a polyester polyol having a functionality of at least about 3.0 and a polyether polyol. The method may include spraying at least one additional layer of the closed cell spray foam insulation against the first layer within 5 minutes of spraying the first layer.

Storage-stable two-component polyurethane or polyisocyanurate spray foam compositions are disclosed, said compositions comprising: (a) an A-side component comprising one or more polyisocyanate and one or more blowing agent; and (b) a B-side component comprising one or more polyol and one or more blowing agent comprising pressurized gaseous carbon dioxide and one or more liquid blowing agent; wherein both the A-side component and the B-side component, separately, generate less than 300 ppm of fluoride ion after one week of aging at 50° C.

The polyurethane foam-forming compositions include a polyol blend, a blowing agent composition, and a polyisocyanate. The polyol blend includes an aromatic amine-initiated polyether polyol, a saccharide-initiated polyether polyol, and an aromatic polyester polyol and has a content of —C.sub.2H.sub.4O— units of 3 to 6% by weight, based on the total weight of the polyurethane foam-forming composition. The blowing agent composition includes a hydrochlorofluoroolefin and water.
