An electroplatable high-density plastic comprises cerium oxide and at least one of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and high-rigidity nylon (MXD6). The polyphenylene sulfide and high-rigidity nylon make the article made of the electroplatable high-density plastic electroplatable, such that a metal layer can be electroplated thereon to give a metallic luster. The titanium dioxide aqueous dispersion contains titanium dioxide particles having a hydrophobic compound such as a higher fatty acid or a salt thereof on the surface, an aqueous dispersion medium, a nonionic surfactant having an HLB value of 10 or higher, and a basic compound such as an alkanolamine, and the pH is in the 8.5-13 range. The method for producing a titanium dioxide aqueous dispersion has a step for mixing the titanium dioxide particles having a hydrophobic compound on the surface, the aqueous dispersion medium, the nonionic surfactant having an HLB value of 10 or higher, and the basic compound to bring the pH of the aqueous dispersion into the 8.5-13 range.

In one aspect, the present invention is an organic-inorganic hybrid membrane of a cerium oxide and an organic fluorine compound, the organic-inorganic hybrid membrane satisfying the following (a), (b), and (c): (a) the visible-light transmittance is 70% or higher; (b) the UV transmittance at a wavelength of 380 nm is 60% or lower; and (c) the water contact angle of the surface of the organic-inorganic hybrid membrane is 80 or higher. In another aspect, the present invention is an organic-inorganic hybrid membrane of a cerium oxide and an organic fluorine compound, the organic-inorganic hybrid membrane satisfying the following (a), (b), and (c): (a) the visible-light transmittance is 70% or higher; (b) the UV transmittance at a wavelength of 380 nm is 60% or lower; and (c) the water contact angle of the surface of the organic-inorganic hybrid membrane is 90 or higher. The organic fluorine compound may include a fluorine-based resin. Also disclosed are a laminate and an article that include the organic-inorganic hybrid membrane.
