PVC Compositions Containing Rare Earth Additive
PVC compositions disclosed herein comprise PVC resin, a rare earth compound, and an inorganic flame retardant. These PVC compositions demonstrate an improved flame retardance and have UL94 classification with a sample thickness of about 0.8 mm of V-2 or higher. The rare earth compound can be rare earth hydroxides, hydrated rare earth oxides, and mixtures thereof. The inorganic flame retardant can be antimony trioxide (ATO), magnesium dihydroxide (MDH), aluminum trihydrate (ATH), and mixtures thereof. The combination of the rare earth compound and inorganic flame retardant forms a synergistic partnership.
Flame retardant additive for polymers
The present disclosure relates to a halogen-free flame retardant additive for polymers, such as polyolefins, comprising (i) a phosphorous-nitrogen-containing component containing amine and/or ammonium groups; and (ii) a (meth)acrylic acid homo- or co-polymer selected from the group consisting of a partially or fully neutralized salt of poly((meth)acrylic acid), a partially or fully neutralized salt of a partially crosslinked poly((meth)acrylic acid), a partially or fully neutralized salt of a copolymer of an olefin and (meth)acrylic acid comprising at least 50% by weight of (meth)acrylic acid repeating units, and any combinations of the foregoing polymers. The present disclosure also relates to a flame retardant polymer composition comprising the flame retardant additive and a method of reducing the flammability of a polymer, in particular a polyolefin, using the flame retardant additive.
RADIATION CROSSLINKING EPDM COMPOSITION AND CABLE PRODUCED THEREBY
Provided is an irradiation-crosslinked ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) composition containing: EPDM 30 to 80 phr (parts per hundred resin) free of a crosslinking agent, a polyolefin (PO) resin 10 to 50 phr, a silicone rubber 5 to 40 phr, a flame retardant 20 to 30 phr, a crosslinking accelerator 5 to 10 phr, a crosslinking assistant 1 to 5 phr, an antioxidant 5 to 15 phr, and a lubricant 0.25 to 5 phr. Provided is a cable produced by: providing the irradiation-crosslinked EPDM composition; first kneading the composition using a kneader; second kneading the first kneaded composition using a roll mill; extruding the second kneaded composition using an extruder, and then cutting the extruded composition to produce pellets as a raw material for the cable; forming a cable of a predetermined length by extruding the pellets using an extruder; and irradiation-crosslinking the formed cable using an electron beam accelerator.
Flame-Retardant High-Damping Material
A flame-retardant high-damping material includes 100 parts by mass of styrene elastomer; from 68 to 72 parts by mass of high-viscosity oil having a kinematic viscosity of 380 mm.sup.2/s or more at a temperature of 40 C.; from 72 to 132 parts by mass of melamine polyphosphate flame retardant; from 121 to 173 parts by mass of organic phosphinic acid metal salt flame retardant; and from 90 to 186 parts by mass of tackifying resin.
Fire resistant data communication cable
Data communication cables include twisted wire pairs, a fire retardant tape, and a jacket layer. The fire retardant tape surrounds the twisted wire pairs has an overlap of about 15% to about 25%. The data communication cables are also halogen-free and may pass the fire retardant standards of National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 130.
Water-washable UV-curable resin and preparation method thereof
The present invention discloses a water-washable UV-curable resin and preparation method thereof, solving the problems of the existing water-washable, photo-curable resin when removing the excess resin. The present invention includes the following raw materials in parts by weight: 1-10 parts of Poly[oxy(methyl-1,2-ethanediyl)] ether glycol, 1-10 parts of Poly(propylene glycol), 5-10 parts of Isophorone diisocyanate, 0.5-2 parts of Dibutyltin dilaurate, 2-5 parts of 2,2-Bis(hydroxymethyl) propionic acid, 2-5 parts of Hydroxyethyl Acrylate, 0.1-0.2 parts of 4-Methoxyphenol, 2-5 parts of 2,2-dimethyl trimethylene cyclic carbonate, 2-7 parts of Nano magnesium hydroxide, 1-10 parts of photoinitiator, 10-30 parts of Glycerol 1,3-dimethacrylate, and 10-30 parts of Hexanediol diacrylate. The final product of present invention is of excellent hydrophilicity and mechanical properties, furthermore, it is short in curing time, good in solvent resistance, environmental friendly and easy to clean.
Polymer matrix composites comprising intumescent particles and methods of making the same
Polymer matrix composite comprising a porous polymeric network; and a plurality of intumescent particles distributed within the polymeric network structure; wherein the intumescent particles are present in a range from 15 to 99 weight percent, based on the total weight of the intumescent particles and the polymer (excluding the solvent); and wherein the polymer matrix composite volumetrically expands at least 2 times its initial volume when exposed to at least one temperature greater than 135 C.; and methods for making the same. The polymer matrix composites are useful, for example, as fillers, thermally initiated fuses, and fire stop devices.
THERMALLY CONDUCTIVE MEMBER
Provided is a thermally conductive member having both high thermal conductivity and low hardness. A thermally conductive member is a laminate provided with a plurality of layers including a first layer and a second layer stacked in contact with each other. The first layer is formed of a first thermally conductive composition containing at least a first acrylic binder, a first thermally conductive filler, and a dispersant. The dispersant contains at least one of a linear polyester having a weight-average molecular weight from 1000 to 2500 and having phosphoric acid at a terminal and a polyester-polyether copolymer having a weight-average molecular weight from 1000 to 2500 and having phosphoric acid at a terminal.
RESIN FILM AND ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCENT DEVICE
Provided is a resin film including: a resin containing a polymer; a hygroscopic particle dispersed in the resin and having a primary particle diameter of 40 nm or more and 80 nm or less and a refractive index of 1.2 or more and 3.0 or less; and an organic solvent-soluble dispersant. Preferably the resin is a silicon-containing resin. Preferably the silicon-containing resin is a silicon-containing thermoplastic resin. Preferably the silicon-containing thermoplastic elastomer contains a graft polymer having a silicon-containing group as the polymer. An organic electroluminescent device including the resin film is also provided.

A resin composition including a base resin containing polyolefin, and an inorganic filler, wherein the inorganic filler includes: a core part containing Mg(OH).sub.2, and a covering part containing a plurality of MgO particles provided on an outer periphery of the core part, the content of the inorganic filler in the resin composition is 0.1 parts by mass or more and 5 parts by mass or less with respect to 100 parts by mass of the base resin; and a volume fraction of Mg(OH).sub.2 in one particle of the inorganic filler is 10% or more and less than 50%.
