SKIN FREEZING SYSTEMS FOR TREATING ACNE AND SKIN CONDITIONS
A method and system in accordance with a particular embodiments of the technology includes applying a substance onto skin of a human subject. An applicator is then applied to the subject to cool a region of the subject. After cooling the tissue, a nucleation initiator is used to initiate a freeze event in the tissue. The nucleation initiator can be an ice crystal that inoculates the skin upon contact to create a predictable freeze event therein. The time of contact between the ice crystal and the skin can be controlled to achieve desired effects.
Body Temperature Controlling System
The present invention is directed to a body temperature controlling system comprising at least one member receiving a flow of gas from at least one blower in communication with said at least one member, said at least one member directing said flow of gas onto a wearer thereof.
Epileptic seizure prevention or treatment via heart rate clamping
We report a method of treating an epileptic seizure in a patient, comprising: detecting said epileptic seizure, based on body data from said patient; and reducing a flow of blood to a brain of said patient in response to said detected seizure; wherein said reducing is effected by: increasing the parasympathetic input to said patient's heart, such as by electrically stimulating a parasympathetic nervous structure, applying cooling energy to a sympathetic nervous structure, or administering a cholinergic or a sympatho-blocking agent to said patient. We also report a medical device system configured to implement the method. We also report a non-transitory computer readable program storage unit encoded with instructions that, when executed by a computer, perform the method.
HEALTH MONITORING CAR SEAT ASSEMBLY
A health monitoring car seat assembly for monitoring the health of a child thereon includes a child safety seat that receives a child thereon. A housing is attached to the child safety seat. A sensing unit is mounted on the housing. The sensing unit detects vital signs of a mass in the child safety seat when the mass is a child. The vital signs include body temperature and heart rate. The sensing unit also detects an ambient temperature of air adjacent to the child safety seat. A display is mounted on the child safety seat and is electrically coupled to the sensing unit. The display displays each of the ambient temperature, the temperature of the child, the heart rate of the child and the weight of the child. A power supply is mounted in the housing and electrically coupled to the sensing unit and the display.
Cryogenic treatment system
A cryogenic treatment system has a housing that includes a dispensing nozzle operably connected with a CO2 dispensing conduit that includes a valve for controlling the flow of CO2 therethrough. A connector fitting is adapted for operably connecting the CO2 dispensing conduit with the separate CO2 source, which is not mounted on the housing. A temperature sensor is operably mounted for monitoring the temperature of a treated area of the patient, and an accelerometer is operably mounted for monitoring movement of the housing. A computer controller is operably connected with the temperature sensor and the accelerometer for controlling the valve responsive to the temperature sensor and the accelerometer.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING ZONES OF SELECTIVE THERMAL THERAPY
The present disclosure describes for at least two zones of selective thermal therapy of the body. Three-port extracorporeal circuits are described that can be used to establish at least two zones of selective thermal therapy of the body. The example three-port extracorporeal circuit includes a branching section that provides for setting the temperature of blood injected into two different portions of the body at differing temperature levels, to provide. at least two zones of selective thermal therapy.
SELF-CONTAINED AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
A self-contained portable air distribution system for cooling an individual by the movement of intake and exhaust air flow streams over an individual. The system includes a portable rechargeable battery operated fan that produces both an inlet intake and outlet exhaust air flow streams that provides a cooling effect by evaporating body moisture as it passes over the body
CRYOSURGICAL DEVICE AND MATERIALS AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF
Provided in the present disclosure are materials, devices, systems, and methods for performing cryo-surgery in a mammalian subject. More particularly, presented are a slurry, devices, systems, and methods for subcutaneously injecting the slurry into a patient in need of bodyfat reduction intervention. The slurry, devices, systems, and methods permit highly efficacious subcutaneous ice phase-change lipolysis while not requiring that the patient be placed under general anesthesia, nor requiring significant new surgical training among practitioners.
THERMAL SYSTEM WITH THERMAL PAD FILTERS
A thermal pad is adapted to be placed in physical contact with a patient and to receive temperature controlled fluid from a thermal control unit. The temperature controlled fluid circulates through the thermal pad and controls the patient's temperature. The thermal pad includes first and second sheets that are sealed together about their periphery to define a fluid chamber there between. A fluid inlet and fluid outlet are fluidly coupled to the fluid chamber. In some embodiments, a filter sheet is sandwiched between the first and second sheets and arranged such that fluid entering the fluid inlet must pass through the filter sheet before exiting out of the fluid outlet. A plurality of bonds may be included that seal the first and second sheets together at a plurality of locations. In some embodiments, a non-sheet filter is positioned within the fluid chamber and filters the circulating fluid.
NON-INVASIVE, SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR SELECTIVE BRAIN COOLING
Methods, systems, and devices are disclosed for providing selective and non-selective cooling and warming of a patient. Multiple embodiments of devices are disclosed for performing rapid induction and maintenance of therapeutic hypothermia either in a hospital setting or in the field so that hypothermic treatment can be quickly instituted before significant tissue damage occurs. Methods are also disclosed for targeting brain cooling by irrigating the upper airway, aerodigestive tract, and/or more generalized cooling by irrigating the esophagus and/or stomach.
