The present invention is directed to a device and a method, particularly suitable for temperature adjustment of a patient and/or suitable for fever treatment and/or normothermia and/or hypothermia. The device comprises at least one connection to at least one reservoir suitable to provide infusion fluid; at least one assembly controller for controlling the temperature and/or flow rate of the infusion fluid; at least one temperature controller adapted for cooling and/or heating the temperature of the infusion fluid so that the infusion fluid is delivered with a pre-set temperature; and/or at least one flow controller for controlling the flow of the infusion fluid; and at least two outgoing ducts; wherein the flow controller is adapted to feed the outgoing ducts with different flow rates.
Combination Therapy to Treat Temperature Sensitive Mutant Tumors
Disclosed herein is a method for treating a tumor having a temperature sensitive p53 (ts p53) mutation in a subject in need thereof. The method involves first administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a chemotherapeutic drug, then inducing moderate hypothermia in the tumor for a duration sufficient to activate the mutant p53 to enhance the efficacy of the drug.
HAND-HELD CRYOTHERAPY DEVICE INCLUDING CRYOGEN TEMPERATURE PRESSURE CONTROLLER AND METHOD THEREOF
Proposed is a hand-held cooling device for supplying a cryogen to a target region for cryotherapy. The device can include a cryogen container configured to contain a first cryogen having a first temperature and a nozzle configured to spray a first modified cryogen to the target region, the first modified cryogen having a second temperature higher than the first temperature. The device can also include a cryogen temperature regulator configured to receive the first cryogen and output the first modified cryogen to the nozzle, the cryogen temperature regulator disposed closer to the nozzle than the cryogen container. The cryogen temperature regulator can include a holder tube, a porous structure disposed inside a holder tube and a heater disposed around the holder tube and heating the holder tube so as to increase the first temperature to the second temperature while the first cryogen passes through the porous structure.
Cryogenic applicator
An applicator for applying cryogenic fluid to a treatment area is described, the applicator comprising: a reservoir (12) configured to contain a cryogenic fluid comprising a gas phase (G) and a liquid phase (L). A nozzle (20) extends from a proximal end arranged in fluid communication with the reservoir (12) to an open distal end (21) for application of fluid to a treatment area. An actuatable valve is provided to selectively allow a flow of cryogenic fluid from the reservoir (12) through the distal end of the nozzle (20). A spacer (14) extends distally beyond the distal end (21) of the nozzle (20), the spacer (14) comprising a skin contacting surface (14a) at its distal end. A porous material (16) is provided between the distal end (21) of the nozzle (20), at least between the open end of the nozzle and the skin contacting surface of the spacer.
PORTABLE COOLING DEVICE
A portable cooling device (100) for administering a coolant (133) to a bodily cavity (210) of a user (200) is presented. The portable cooling device (100) comprises a flow transducer (110) configured to provide an airflow (113) to the bodily cavity (210) of the user (200), and a pressure transducer (120) configured to inject the coolant (133) into the airflow (113). The flow transducer (110) and the pressure transducer (120) are separate components. A method of controlling the portable cooling device is also presented.
COLD THERAPY SYSTEM AND HEAT EXCHANGE DEVICE THEREFOR
A cold therapy system including a housing having an inlet for receiving fluid from a source and an outlet for delivering cooled fluid. The housing defines a chamber comprising or defining at least one conduit for removably receiving a heat exchange device including a body of ice. The conduit is disposed in a fluid flow path between the inlet and the outlet such that, in use, the fluid flows from the inlet over the outer circumference of the body of ice before delivery to the outlet.
MEDICAL ASPIRATION SYSTEM AND MEDICAL THROMBECTOMY SYSTEM
The invention relates to a medical aspiration system having a catheter with at least two lumens, wherein a first lumen forms an aspiration lumen which is connected to an aspiration unit for suction removal of substances from a blood vessel through an inlet opening in the aspiration lumen, and a second lumen forms an infusion lumen through which a substance can be supplied to the blood vessel through an outlet opening in the infusion lumen, wherein the outlet opening in the infusion lumen is arranged in a region between the inlet opening of the aspiration lumen and a position proximal to the inlet opening in the aspiration lumen. The invention is characterized in that the infusion lumen is connected to a cooling unit, which supplies a cooled liquid for administration through the infusion lumen.
Arm immersion cooling apparatus and method
A two person portable apparatus (10) for reducing the core temperature of one or more human beings includes a trough (14) made of a waterproof, flexible fabric (56) and a generally rectangular frame (12). Portions (68, 70, 72, 74) of the fabric (56) are looped over sides (24, 26, 28, 30) of the frame (12) so that the trough is supported by and suspended from the frame. PAIN MANAGEMENT USING CRYOGENIC REMODELING
Medical devices, systems, and methods for pain management and other applications may apply cooling with at least one probe inserted through an exposed skin surface of skin. The cooling may remodel one or more target tissues so as to effect a desired change in composition of the target tissue and/or a change in its behavior, often to interfere with transmission of pain signals along sensory nerves. Alternative embodiments may interfere with the function of motor nerves, the function of contractile muscles, and/or some other tissue included in the contractile function chain so as to inhibit muscle contraction and thereby alleviate associated pain. In some embodiments, other sources of pain such as components of the spine (optionally including herniated disks) may be treated.
