SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING ZONES OF SELECTIVE THERMAL THERAPY
The present disclosure describes for at least two zones of selective thermal therapy of the body. Three-port extracorporeal circuits are described that can be used to establish at least two zones of selective thermal therapy of the body. The example three-port extracorporeal circuit includes a branching section that provides for setting the temperature of blood injected into two different portions of the body at differing temperature levels, to provide at least two zones of selective thermal therapy.
Method and device for non-invasive anatomical and systemic cooling and neuroprotection
The present invention provides a method and device for non-invasive anatomical and systemic cooling. The method and device provide for cooling of various bodily fluid-containing spaces or surfaces, such as mucus-containing spaces or surfaces via delivery of a dry fluid not including a coolant into or upon the mucus-containing space or surface. Exposure of such mucus to the dry fluid results in evaporation and cooling of the anatomical feature and/or systemic cooling, as intended. In this fashion, therapeutic hypothermia may be achieved to provide for neuroprotection of various organs after ischemic insult, such the brain after cardiac arrest.
Cryogenic enhancement of joint function, alleviation of joint stiffness and/or alleviation of pain associated with osteoarthritis
A method in which a location is determined on the skin that is proximate to a sensory nerve that is associated with a painful condition. At least one needle of a cryogenic device is inserted into the location on the skin such that the needle is proximate to the sensory nerve. The device is activated such that the at least one needle creates a cooling zone about the sensory nerve, thereby eliminating or reducing severity of the painful condition.
BODY SURFACE TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT APPARATUS
A body surface temperature adjustment apparatus efficiently adjusts a surface temperature of a treatment target site of a patient. The apparatus includes a first tank that stores water, a water temperature adjustment unit that adjusts a temperature of the water to a predetermined temperature, a cooling apparatus that surrounds a scalp, a first pump that circulates the water, a controller that controls the water temperature adjustment unit and the first pump, and at least one water outlet for releasing the water circulated by the first pump toward the scalp surrounded by the cooling apparatus body, and a collection unit that collects the water released within a scalp surrounding space into the first tank.
DYNAMIC SUPPORT APPARATUS
A dynamic support apparatus. The dynamic support apparatus includes a cushion, at least one actuator wherein the at least one actuator defines an interior volume and wherein the interior volume may be configured to be at least partially filled with a fluid, and a support disposed in the interior volume wherein the support configured to support an occupant when the interior volume is not filled with the fluid such that the support is sufficient to support the occupant.
CHEMICAL ABLATION FORMULATIONS AND METHODS OF TREATMENTS FOR VARIOUS DISEASES
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to the treatment of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, heart failure, end-stage renal disease, digestive disease, urological disease, cancers, tumors, pains, asthma, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by delivering of an effective amount of formulations at desired temperature to target tissue. The formulations include gases, vapors, liquids, solutions, emulsions and suspensions of one or more ingredients. The temperature may enhance safety and efficacy of the formulations for the treatments. The amounts of the formulation and/or energy are effective to injury or damage the tissues to have a benefit of symptom relive.
LOCAL COOLING ANESTHESIA DEVICE, METHOD OF CONTROLLING LOCAL COOLING ANESTHESIA DEVICE, AND COOLING TEMPERATURE REGULATOR OF LOCAL COOLING ANESTHESIA DEVICE
Proposed is a local cooling anesthesia device for spraying a coolant on a treatment site. The local cooling anesthesia device includes a housing which forms an outward form and from which the coolant is sprayed and a spraying unit installed in the housing to spray the coolant. The device also includes a cooling temperature regulator connected to the spraying unit to apply thermal energy to the sprayed coolant for temperature regulation and a control unit connected to the cooling temperature regulator to control the cooling temperature regulator. The cooling anesthesia device has functions of measuring and regulating the temperature of the coolant, and thus can apply the coolant to the treatment site within a safe temperature range according to the purpose of treatment, thereby enabling a desired treatment purpose such as local anesthesia to be safely and rapidly accomplished without side effects such as cytoclasis.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS
Described herein are compositions comprising, and methods for using, biocompatible cold slurries and methods of administering the same to provide reversible inhibition of peripheral nerves in a subject in need thereof.
APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A TEMPERATURE OF A PATIENT
Apparatus for controlling a body temperature with a controller. The controller is adapted to control the body temperature by controlling at least two different body temperature adaption devices, wherein one body temperature adaption device is an infusion device (200); and wherein at least one further body temperature adaption device (300) is different from the one body temperature adaptation device and, preferably, not an infusion device.
Use of Sterile Sleeve in Production of Surgical Slush
Production of sterile therapeutic medium such as sterile surgical slush for use in surgery. A sterile slush container with a sterile sleeve assembly so that the outside of the sterile slush container remains sterile after placement in a non-sterile slush making machine so that the sterile slush container may be returned to the sterile field after removal of the sterile slush container from the sleeve assembly.
