Dry eye treatment apparatus and methods
Dry eye treatment apparatus and methods are described herein which generally includes a patch or strip affixed to the skin of the upper and/or lower eyelids to deliver heat or other forms of energy, pressure, drugs, moisture, etc. (alone or in combination) to the one or more meibomian glands contained within the underlying skin. The treatment strip or strips include one or more strips configured to adhere to an underlying region of skin in proximity to one or both eyes of a subject such that the one or more strips allow for the subject to blink naturally without restriction from the one or more strips. Moreover, the one or more strips may be configured to emit energy to the underlying region of skin and where the one or more strips are shaped to follow a location of one or more meibomiam glands contained within the underlying region of skin.
Vibration and heat generation apparatus for use with compression wraps
A system applies compression, vibration and heat to a body part of a person. The system includes a portable vibration and heat generation apparatus having a flexible support platform and a bag-like enclosure extending from the support platform. A cylindrical control unit is mounted to the support platform and extends perpendicularly from the support platform. The control unit has a diameter of between 50 millimeters and 100 millimeters. The control unit houses electronic circuitry and at least one battery. Four vibration pods extend from the support platform into the bag-like structure. The bag-like structure also houses a heat generation unit. The control unit extends through a circular bore in a compression wrap. The compression wrap is securable to a body part with a distal wall of the bag-like enclosure against the body part. The system selectively applies vibration, heat or a combination of vibration and heat to the body part.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MAINTAINING ENTHALPY WITH SECONDARY MECHANISMS
An interactive enthalpy exchange system for infant care includes a pouch for receiving an infant, and a heat source arranged in the pouch. The heat source includes a first heat source and a second heat source different from the first heat source. Control circuitry is operatively coupled to the heat source, the control circuitry configured to control interactive enthalpy between the first heat source and the second heat source to maintain a temperature within the pouch at a prescribed temperature.
Athlete's Recovery System
In one instance, a recovery system to assist an athlete with recovery is presented that includes a battery-operated, flexible wrap that applies heat and optionally pneumatic pressure while utilizing both conductive and radiant heat in varying proportions according to a desired pattern. Optionally, at least one pneumatic bladder on the flexible wrap applies the pneumatic pressure to the user. The recovery system has a control unit that ramps the temperature applied before leveling at a target temperature. Other systems and devices are presented.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DRY EYE TREATMENT
A dry eye treatment device, comprising a roller, a holder, wherein the roller contacts and rolls over an eyelid in a plurality of directions in a treatment; a heating element to generate heat, wherein at least a portion of the heat is transferred to the roller; a temperature monitoring system, which comprises a thermal sensor and a temperature control circuit; and an electric power source. The roller is of a convex cylindrical or concave cylindrical shape. A method for dry eye treatment, comprising: cleaning an eyelid with a first cleansing wipe; heating a roller to a predetermined temperature; applying thermally conductive gel between the roller and the eyelid; rolling the roller over the eyelid in a plurality of directions; and removing the thermally conductive gel and expressed debris with a second cleansing wipe; and further, increasing the temperature by an increment and repeating the treatment method.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DELIVERING INTRALUMINAL THERAPY
A catheter and methods for luminal therapy are provided wherein a catheter includes an elongated catheter shaft having a proximal end and a distal region, a first inflation lumen and a second inflation lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal region; a fluid impermeable balloon affixed to the distal region; an intermediate balloon affixed to the distal region to envelop the fluid impermeable balloon, the intermediate balloon having a first multiplicity of through-wall apertures; and an outer balloon affixed to the distal region to envelop the intermediate balloon, the exterior surface of the outer balloon comprising a coating of an agent; wherein the first inflation lumen is coupled to a first space enclosed by the fluid impermeable balloon, the second inflation lumen is coupled to a second space defined by the fluid impermeable balloon and the intermediate balloon, wherein the fluid impermeable balloon is configured to contact and expand the intermediate balloon against the outer balloon, and to expand the outer balloon such that the coating is in contact with a luminal wall. The outer balloon also may include a multiplicity of through-wall apertures.
Systems and methods for the treatment of eye conditions
Systems, methods, and devices used to treat eyelids, meibomian glands, ducts, and surrounding tissue are described herein. In some embodiments, an eye treatment device is disclosed, which includes a scleral shield positionable proximate an inner surface of an eyelid, the scleral shield being made of, or coated with, an energy-absorbing material activated by a light energy, and an energy transducer positionable outside of the eyelid, the energy transducer configured to provide light energy at one or more wavelengths, including a first wavelength selected to heat the energy-absorbing material.
OPERATING ROOM (OR) TABLE COVER
An OR table disposable cover includes a sheet, fluid absorbent on a top side, and fluid impermeable on an opposite, bottom side; a angled support wedge positioned in a head support region on the top side of the sheet; and a soft foam ring member on a top of the angled support which in concert with its underlying support wedge maintains a patient's head in a sniff position. Also provided is a barrier cover having a patient head support member adjacent one end, said head support member being canted at an about 15° angle to the cover, and an operating table carriage that interfaces with the patient either directly, or through a cushion that allows the patient's head to translate along an Y axis of the rail.
ELECTRICALLY AND THERMALLY CONDUCTIVE ELECTRODE DEVICE WITH FAR INFRARED RADIATION AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
A far infrared electrically and thermally conductive electrode device includes an electrode set and a connection assembly, through which the electrode set is connected to the case of a host in a wireless way. The electrode set is both electrically and thermally conductive. The method for making the electrode of the electrode device includes steps of disposing an electrode protecting layer on a first side of a far infrared heating layer; disposing an electrode insulating layer on a second side of the far infrared heating layer; disposing an electrode layer on the surface of the electrode insulating layer; and covering the electrode layer with a conducting gel layer.
