Waterborne bonding adhesive formulation for sheet membrane incorporating a solid plasticizer

An adhesive formulation is provided that is a waterborne bonding adhesive for adhering sheet membranes that may incorporate a solid plasticizer. The formulation is fast-curing and develops bond strength rapidly after application to a substrate as the adhesive dries, when the sheet membrane is mated to the substrate. The fast-curing characteristic is important to ensure the membrane is not displaced from the surface in windy exterior applications. The adhesive is formulated to form the bond between sheet membranes to substrates that illustratively include, steel, wood, concrete, roof boards, insulation, and fiberglass mat roof boards.

In particular, the present invention relates to a breathable waterproof membrane capable of being thermally-bonded to a fabric and a method of manufacturing the same, the membrane being applied to the manufacture of outdoor clothing, thereby giving excellent breathability and waterproof properties to the outdoor clothing and simplifying a manufacturing process of the outdoor clothing.

FUNCTIONALIZED RESIN HAVING A POLAR LINKER

Polar silane linkers are provided that attach to resins to form silane-functionalized resins. The functionalized resins can be bound to hydroxyl groups on the surface of silica particles to improve the dispersibility of the silica particles in rubber mixtures. Further disclosed are synthetic routes to provide the silane-functionalized resins, as well as various uses and end products that benefit from the unexpected properties of the silane-functionalized resins. Silane-functionalized resins impart remarkable properties on various rubber compositions, such as tires, belts, hoses, brakes, and the like. Automobile tires incorporating the silane-functionalized resins are shown to possess excellent results in balancing the properties of rolling resistance, tire wear, and wet braking performance.

THERMOEXPANDABLE REFRACTORY MATERIAL COMPOSITION, THERMOEXPANDABLE REFRACTORY MATERIAL, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THERMOEXPANDABLE REFRACTORY MATERIAL

A thermally expandable fire-resistant material composition comprising an adhesive base and an a thermally expandable compound, wherein the thermally expandable fire-resistant material composition is flowable at an ordinary temperature or at a temperature lower than the expansion onset temperature of the thermally expandable fire-resistant material, and is solidifiable or curable.

Compositions containing rosin esters and ethylene polymers

Disclosed are compositions which include an ethylene polymer derived from at least one polar monomer with one or more ester groups, and a rosin ester. The rosin ester can have a low hydroxyl number (e.g., a hydroxyl number seven or less), a low acid number (e.g., an acid number of ten or less), a relatively low PAN number (e.g., a PAN number less than twenty-five), a relatively high third moment or third power average molecular weight (M.sub.z), (e.g., an M.sub.z value in between 2500 and 12000 g/mol), a low sulfur content (e.g., a sulfur content lower than 600 ppm prior to antioxidant addition) or combinations thereof. The compositions can exhibit a high heat stress resistance (e.g., a heat stress pass temperature value higher than 52 C. or in between 48 C. and 60 C.) and/or improved viscosity stability and/or color stability upon thermal aging and/or improved compatibility.

Adhesive composition and element for attaching to human skin

An adhesive composition is intended to provide the attaching to human skin, comprising a continuous phase and a discontinuous phase of hydrocolloids, with the continuous phase comprising by weight, based on the total weight of the adhesive composition: (i) 1 to 12% by weight of a sequenced polymer of the styrene-isoprene-styrene or styrene-butadiene-styrene type, (ii) (a) 1 to 15% of a polymer of the elastomer butyl type, possibly as a mixture with up to 25% by weight of a polymer of the polyisobutylene type, or (b) more than 10% to 30% of a polymer of the polyisobutylene type, free of polymer of the elastomer butyl type, (iii) 1 to less than 10% of a polymer of the ethylene vinyl acetate type, with the sum of these three types of polymers representing from 10 to 40%.

MODIFIED RESINS AND USES THEREOF

Modified thermoplastic hydrocarbon thermoplastic resins are provided, as well as methods of their manufacture and uses thereof in rubber compositions. The modified thermoplastic resins are modified by decreasing the relative quantity of the dimer, trimer, tetramer, and pentamer oligomers as compared to the corresponding unmodified thermoplastic resin polymers, resulting in a product that exhibits a greater shift in the glass transition temperature of the elastomer(s) used in tire formulations. This translates to better viscoelastic predictors of tire tread performance, such as wet grip and rolling resistance. The modified thermoplastic resins impart remarkable properties on various rubber compositions, such as tires, belts, hoses, brakes, and the like. Automobile tires incorporating the modified thermoplastic resins are shown to possess excellent results in balancing the properties of rolling resistance, tire wear, snow performance, and wet braking performance.
