Hydrocarbon Resin and Method for Production Thereof
The invention relates to a method for producing a hydrocarbon resin, in which method a monomer mixture which contains an aromatic component containing indene and/or C.sub.1-4 alkylindene and a cyclic diolefin component containing a cyclic diolefin compound is polymerized by heating to a polymerization temperature of at least 180° C. to obtain a product stream containing hydrocarbon resin, wherein oligomers which contain units originating from the cyclic diolefin compound and/or units originating from the aromatic component are separated from the product stream and returned to the monomer mixture, and wherein the hydrocarbon resin is heated in an annealing step to a temperature of 150° C. to 300° C. for a period of 15 minutes to 240 hours. The invention also relates to a hydrocarbon resin that is obtainable by the method, to a hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin, and to the use of the hydrocarbon resin and the hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin.

Latex compositions comprising polysaccharides
Disclosed herein are aqueous latex compositions comprising polysaccharide particles and a polymer dispersion or polymer emulsion. In one embodiment the polysaccharide particles comprise poly alpha-1,3-glucan. Also disclosed are an adhesive, film, coating, or binder comprising the latex composition in a dry form, as well as articles comprising the adhesive, film, coating, or binder.
Waterborne adhesives
Provided is an adhesive composition comprising a continuous aqueous medium and further comprising (i) particles of a polymer dispersed in said aqueous medium; and (ii) particles comprising fatty amide and one or more fatty acid, wherein 50 mole % or more of said fatty acid is in the carboxylate form, and wherein the weight ratio of said fatty amide to said fatty acid is from 0.12:1 to 2.3:1, wherein said particles comprising fatty amide and one or more fatty acid are dispersed in said aqueous medium. Also provided is a method of bonding substrates using such an adhesive composition and a bonded structure made by such a method.
Modified resins and uses thereof
Modified thermoplastic hydrocarbon thermoplastic resins are provided, as well as methods of their manufacture and uses thereof in rubber compositions. The modified thermoplastic resins are modified by decreasing the relative quantity of the dimer, trimer, tetramer, and pentamer oligomers as compared to the corresponding unmodified thermoplastic resin polymers, resulting in a product that exhibits a greater shift in the glass transition temperature of the elastomer(s) used in tire formulations. This translates to better viscoelastic predictors of tire tread performance, such as wet grip and rolling resistance. The modified thermoplastic resins impart remarkable properties on various rubber compositions, such as tires, belts, hoses, brakes, and the like. Automobile tires incorporating the modified thermoplastic resins are shown to possess excellent results in balancing the properties of rolling resistance, tire wear, snow performance, and wet braking performance.
AQUEOUS FLAME RETARDANT ADHESIVE COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PREPARING SAME
This invention relates to an aqueous flame retardant adhesive composition that is environment-friendly, reduces cost through replacement of organic flame retardant, improves layer separation of adhesive according to the addition of inorganic flame retardant, and exhibits excellent adhesive strength, low temperature stability, processability and extraction resistance, and a method for preparing the same.
