Polyacrylamide slurry for fracturing fluids
The present disclosure relates to fracturing fluids that use friction reducers. The composition of the present disclosure is a slurry comprising a water-soluble polymer suspended in an oil-based vehicle with the aid of a suspension agent and a surfactant. Specifically, the water-soluble polymer is polyacrylamide and the oil-based vehicle is petroleum distillate. The surfactant is an ethoxylated nonionic emulsifier. The surfactant can be a fatty chain EO/PO (ethylene oxide propylene oxide) and/or oxylated propoxy copolymer. The suspension aid is any variation of diblock copolymers based on styrene and ethylene/propylene. The composition may also contain a dispersant such as organophilic clay or a synthetic alternative as the suspension agent.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING AQUEOUS POLYACRYLAMIDE SOLUTIONS
Process for producing aqueous polyacrylamide solutions by polymerizing an aqueous solution comprising at least acrylamide thereby obtaining an aqueous polyacrylamide gel and dissolving said aqueous polyacrylamide gel in water, wherein the manufacturing steps are allocated to two different locations A and B and the process comprises the step of transporting an aqueous monomer premix from a location A to a location B. Modular, relocatable plant for manufacturing aqueous polyacrylamide solutions wherein the units of the plant are located at two different locations A and B.
DOWNHOLE HIGH TEMPERATURE RHEOLOGY CONTROL
A method of treating a well comprising introducing a well treatment fluid into the well, and a well treatment fluid, are provided. The well treatment fluid comprises an aqueous base fluid, sepiolite clay, and a polymer component selected from the group of an acryloylmorpholine polymer, a polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer, and mixtures thereof. In one embodiment, for example, the method is a method of drilling a well. In this embodiment, the well treatment fluid is a drilling fluid.
OLEOFURANSULFONATE SURFACTANTS FOR USE IN WELLBORE APPLICATIONS
Treatment fluids and associated methods for treating a subterranean formation. An example method includes introducing a treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating the subterranean formation. The treatment fluid includes an oleofuransulfonate surfactant; a treatment fluid additive capable of interaction with a cation; and an aqueous fluid. The cation is present in the treatment fluid or contacts the treatment fluid. The method further includes solvating the treatment fluid additive with the oleofuransulfonate surfactant.
Treatment Methods Using Aqueous Fluids Containing Oil-Soluble Treatment Agents
A method of treating a well or a subterranean formation with an aqueous treatment fluid containing one or more oil-soluble, water-insoluble well treatment agents. The fluid includes an aqueous dispersion containing the well treatment agent in an amount from 25 to 60 weight percent. The volume average particle diameter of the oil-soluble well treatment agent in the fluid may be less than or equal to 2.5 microns. The fluid may further contain a water-soluble well treatment agent.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING AQUEOUS POLYACRYLAMIDE SOLUTIONS
Process for producing aqueous polyacrylamide solutions by polymerizing an aqueous solution comprising at least acrylamide thereby obtaining an aqueous polyacrylamide gel and dissolving said aqueous polyacrylamide gel in water, wherein the manufacturing steps are allocated to two different locations A and B and the process comprises the step of transporting an aqueous polyacrylamide gel hold in a transportable polymerization unit from a location A to a location B. The transportable polymerization unit comprises a cylindrical upper part, a conical part at its lower end, feeds for the aqueous monomer solution, a closable bottom opening, and means allowing to deploy the polymerization unit in a vertical manner.
High temperature fracturing fluids with nano-crosslinkers
A fracturing fluid system for increasing hydrocarbon production in a subterranean reservoir formation comprising a fluid composition and a base fluid, the fluid composition comprising a nano-crosslinker, and a base polymer; and the base fluid operable to suspend the fluid composition, the base fluid comprising water; wherein the fluid composition and the base fluid are combined to produce the fracturing fluid system, wherein the fracturing fluid system is operable to stimulate the subterranean reservoir formation. In certain embodiments, the nano-crosslinker is an amine-containing nano-crosslinker and the base polymer is an acrylamide-based polymer. In certain embodiments, the fracturing fluid systems comprise proppants for enhancing hydraulic fracturing stimulation in a subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir.
Viscoelastic fluid compositions, oil flowable/oil dispersion compositions, and drilling fluid compositions
Viscoelastic fluid compositions are provided that have improved properties for suspending particulate active ingredients. Methods for forming the compositions are also provided. The compositions preferably have a non-Newtonian behavior, so that the viscosity of the composition at low shear rates is suitable for keeping solid particles in the form of a stable suspension while also providing a reduced viscosity at higher shear rates (such as a substantially reduced or minimized viscosity) to allow for pumping, tank mixing, and/or distribution of the composition, for instance by spraying.
ENCAPSULATION AND CONTROLLED DELIVERY OF STRONG MINERAL ACIDS
A polymer-encapsulated mineral acid solution and a method for forming the polymer-encapsulated mineral acid solution. Introducing a strong mineral acid solution to a monomer solution occurs such that a primary emulsion that is a water-in-oil type emulsion forms. Introducing the primary emulsion to a second aqueous solution forms a secondary emulsion that is a water-in-oil-in-water type double emulsion. The monomer in the secondary emulsion is cured such a polymerized shell forms that encapsulates the strong mineral acid solution and forms the capsule. The strong mineral acid solution has up to 30 wt. % strong mineral acid. A method of stimulating a hydrocarbon-bearing formation using the polymer-encapsulated mineral acid solution includes introducing a capsule suspension into a fissure in the hydrocarbon-bearing formation to be stimulated through a face in a well bore. The capsule is maintained within the fissure until the polymer shell degrades.
