A method and an apparatus for producing a chemical compound from biomass based raw material. The bio-mass based raw material is gasified in a gasification device for forming a gasification gas, the gasification gas is treated in the reactor which includes at least one catalyst layer including Fe-based catalyst for forming a hydrocarbon composition, at least one hydrocarbon fraction including olefins is recovered from the hydrocarbon composition, and a chemical compound is formed from the hydrocarbon fraction. Further, the invention relates to the produced chemical compound.
Core-shell particles with catalytic activity
The present invention pertains to novel core-shell particles comprising a core of alumina and a shell of cobalt oxide, characterized in that they are spherical with a number average diameter, as measured by TEM, of between 10 and 30 nm. This invention also pertains to the method for preparing these core-shell particles and to their uses in the manufacture of a catalyst.

DYE-SENSITIZED TIO2 HYBRID SYSTEM WITH RHENIUM AND COBALT CATALYSTS FOR PRODUCING HYDROGEN/CARBON MONOXIDE SYNGAS
Disclosed is a hybrid catalyst system for the production of hydrogen/carbon monoxide syngas. The hybrid catalyst system includes a dye, a rhenium (Re) catalyst, and a cobalt (Co) catalyst grafted on a semiconductor metal oxide. The hybrid catalyst system can produce syngas without the aid of external energy and enables control over the ratio of hydrogen/carbon monoxide formed. Therefore, the hybrid catalyst system can find application in various industrial fields, including chemical fuel production.
Process for preparing a chlorine comprising catalyst, the prepared catalyst, and its use
The invention concerns a process for preparing a chlorine comprising catalyst by (a) providing a Fischer-Tropsch catalyst comprising titania and at least 5 weight percent cobalt; (b) impregnating the catalyst with a solution comprising chloride ions; and (c) heating the impregnated catalyst at a temperature in the range of between 100 and 500? C. for at least 5 minutes up to 2 days. The prepared catalyst preferably comprises 0.13-3 weight percent of the element chlorine. The invention further relates to the prepared catalyst and its use.

The first metals exist on an outer surface of the base material, and on a surface of the base material in fine pores having opening ends on the outer surface of the base material and inside the base material. The first metals and the first oxide exist in the fine pores. The first metals have interfaces with the base material in the fine pores. The first metals exist inside the base material.
Method and apparatus for producing a hydrocarbon fraction and a hydrocarbon fraction and its use
Provided is a method and apparatus for producing a hydrocarbon fraction. The hydrocarbon fraction is formed from biomass based synthesis gas, the synthesis gas is fed through at least two catalyst layer, the first catalyst layer includes Fe-based catalyst, the second catalyst layer includes Co-based catalyst, and the synthesis gas is treated by supplying the synthesis gas through the first and second catalyst layers in order to form a hydrocarbon composition including the hydrocarbon fraction. Further, provided is a hydrocarbon fraction and its use.
Processes for the production of liquid fuels from carbon containing feedstocks, related systems and catalysts
The present invention is directed to unique processes, catalysts and systems for the direct production of liquid fuels (e.g., premium diesel fuel) from synthesis gas produced from natural feedstocks such as natural gas, natural gas liquids, carbon dioxide or other similar compounds or materials. In one aspect, the present invention provides a process for the production of a hydrocarbon mixture comprising the steps of: a) reducing a catalyst in-situ in a fixed bed reactor; b) reacting a feed gas that contains hydrogen and carbon monoxide with the catalyst to produce a hydrocarbon product stream, wherein the hydrocarbon product stream comprises light gases, a diesel fuel and a wax, and wherein the diesel fuel fraction is produced without requiring the hydroprocessing of wax, and wherein the catalyst comprises one or more metals deposited on a gamma alumina support at greater than about 5 weight percent, and wherein platinum or rhenium is included on the support in an amount ranging from about 0.01 weight percent and about 2 weight percent as a promoter, and wherein the catalyst has surface pore diameters between about 100 and 150 Angstroms, sub-surface pore diameters between 10 and 30 Angstroms a crush strength greater than about 3 lbs./mm, a mean effective pellet radius less than about 600 microns, and a BET surface area greater than about 100 m.sup.2/g, and wherein the diesel fuel comprises more than about 70 percent C.sub.8-C.sub.24 hydrocarbons.

The invention relates to a novel reactor design, wherein the pressurized chamber contains both a high-temperature electrolysis (HTE) reactor with elementary electrolysis cell stacking for producing either hydrogen or a synthesis gas (syngas for a H.sub.2+CO mixture) from water vapor H.sub.2O and carbon dioxide CO.sub.2, and at least one catalyst arranged at a distance and downstream of the outlet of the electrolyzer for converting the previously produced synthesis gas into the desired combustible gas, by means of heterogeneous catalysis, the synthesis gas having being produced either directly from the electrolysis reactor or indirectly by mixing the hydrogen produced with carbon dioxide CO.sub.2 injected into the chamber.
