USE OF A WAX ANTI-SETTLING ADDITIVE IN AUTOMOTIVE FUEL COMPOSITIONS
Use of a wax anti-settling agent (WASA), in an automotive fuel composition, for the purpose of improving the acceleration performance of an internal combustion engine into which the fuel composition is or is intended to be introduced or of a vehicle powered by such an engine.
Nanocarbon particle based fuel additive
A fuel additive composition has a base fuel; colloidal nanocarbon particles, and a dispersion stabilizer that aids in stably suspending the colloidal nanocarbon particles in the base fuel. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.
Hydrocarbon Marine Fuel Oil
A liquid hydrocarbon marine fuel oil includes a marine distillate fuel or a heavy oil or a blend thereof containing an additive combination including: (A) a polyalkenyl-substituted carboxylic acid or anhydride, and (B) a metal hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxybenzoate and/or sulfonate detergent, where the mass:mass ratio of (A) to (B) is in the range of 20:1 to 1:20 and the treat rate of the additive combination is in the range of 5 to 10000 ppm by mass.
Quaternized ammonium salts of hydrocarbyl epoxides and use thereof as additives in fuels and lubricants
The present invention relates to novel quaternized ammonium salts of hydrocarbyl epoxides, to the preparation thereof and to the use thereof as a fuel additive and lubricant additive, such as, more particularly, as a detergent additive; for reducing or preventing deposits in the injection systems of direct injection diesel engines, especially in common rail injection systems, for reducing the fuel consumption of direct injection diesel engines, especially of diesel engines with common rail injection systems, and for minimizing power loss in direct injection diesel engines, especially in diesel engines with common rail injection systems; and as an additive for gasoline fuels, especially for operation of DISI engines.

R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are each independently selected from hydrogen, aromatic ring, and a C.sub.1-C.sub.20 alkyl group and R.sub.5 is hydrogen or an alcohol having the structure (CH)R.sub.6OH. R.sub.6 is hydrogen, a C.sub.1-C.sub.10 alkyl group, or a C.sub.1-C.sub.10 alkenyl group, or a salt thereof.
QUATERNARY AMMONIUM FUEL ADDITIVES
The present disclosure provides fuel additives including a quaternary ammonium salt formed by reacting an alkyl carboxylate with a compound formed from a hydrocarbyl substituted acylating agent reacted with a select amine. Also provided herein are fuel compositions including the novel fuel additives and methods of combusting a fuel including the fuel additives herein. The unique quaternary ammonium salts herein are advantageous because they can be made through a simple alkylation process and provide improved detergency at low treat rates by making available a relatively less sterically hindered quaternary nitrogen for detergency activity in the fuel.
Viscosity reduction of heavy oils by cashew nut shell liquid formulations
The present disclosure provides compositions and methods of use of cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) and its derivatives as one of the components for decreasing the viscosity of heavy oils, extra heavy oils, high asphaltene natural bitumen, and tar sands (i.e., heavy oils). The decrease in viscosity of heavy oils increases the ability of the heavy oil mixture to be piped, transported, stored and used. The present disclosure provides compositions containing at least one of anacardic acid, cardanol and cardol, and at least one of a surfactant, a co-solvent, and water. The present disclosure provides compositions that are useful as viscosity reducing agents, heavy oil upgrading agents, wellbore cleaning agents, enhanced oil recovery agents, and cleaning agents for asphaltene-containing materials. Biofuel compositions are also provided by the present disclosure.
