The invention relates to a thermal skin treatment device comprising a skin contact component with a skin contact surface; a thermal energy component in thermal contact with the skin contact component; a temperature control circuit electrically connected to the thermal energy component and comprising a user interface; and an energy source electrically connected to said thermal energy component for energy supply. Said temperature control circuit is adapted to control an amount of energy supplied from said energy source to said thermal energy component such that a first predetermined temperature is maintained at the skin contact surface for a first duration, or a second predetermined temperature is maintained at the skin contact surface for a second duration, wherein said first predetermined temperature is in a range of 40 C.+/2 C., and wherein said second predetermined temperature is in a range of 19 C.+/2 C. The temperature control circuit is adapted to maintain for a predetermined duration, during operation, only said first predetermined temperature or said second predetermined temperature at the skin contact surface. The invention further relates to a method for non-therapeutic treatment of a human eye region by means of a thermal skin treatment device according to the invention.

THERMAL SYSTEM WITH STEP RESPONSE
A thermal control unit for controlling a patient's temperature includes a fluid outlet for delivering temperature-controlled fluid to a patient, a pump, a heat exchanger, and a controller that automatically implements a step change in the temperature of the fluid delivered to the patient. The step change is implemented prior to the patient reaching a target patient temperature. In the moments after (and in some cases the moments before) the step change, the controller monitors the rate of change of patient's temperature to evaluate whether the patient will reach the target patient temperature without reversing the step change, and/or how long it will likely take for the patient to reach the target patient temperature without reversing the step change. The controller then determines whether to reverse the step change or to switch to another algorithm for controlling the fluid temperature.

These therapeutic soft, pliable hot/cold rice packs, in different sizes and shapes, have adjustable elastic strips for the aid in comforting animals recovering from dental surgery and many other injured body parts. They can be frozen, cooled or heated in a microwave. The inner rice bag is hand washable, while the outer fleece covering, having hook and loop closures, can be machine washed and air dried. One or more elastic strips are pulled between silicone/rubber adjuster buttons (which slide independently of each other) and sewn into the product according to size to measure a perfect fit around the injured area.
Hook and loop material could also be sewn onto the bottom elastic strips and bottom of the outer covering for a break-away option.
