Absorbent for selective removal of hydrogen sulfide from a fluid stream
An absorbent for selective removal of hydrogen sulfide over carbon dioxide from a fluid stream comprises an aqueous solution of a) a tertiary amine, b) a sterically hindered secondary amine of the general formula (I) ##STR00001##
in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently selected from C.sub.1-4-alkyl and C.sub.1-4-hydroxyalkyl; R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each independently selected from hydrogen, C.sub.1-4-alkyl and C.sub.1-4-hydroxyalkyl, with the proviso that at least one R.sub.4 and/or R.sub.5 radical on the carbon atom bonded directly to the nitrogen atom is C.sub.1-4-alkyl or C.sub.1-4-hydroxyalkyl when R.sub.3 is hydrogen; x and y are integers from 2 to 4 and z is an integer from 1 to 4; where the molar ratio of b) to a) is in the range from 0.05 to 1.0, and c) an acid in an amount, calculated as neutralization equivalent relative to the protonatable nitrogen atoms in a) and b), of 0.05 to 15.0%. One preferred amine of the formula I is 2-(2-tert-butylaminoethoxy)ethanol. The absorbent allows a defined H.sub.2S selectivity to be set at pressures of the kind typical in natural gas processing.
METHOD FOR THE DESULFURIZATION OF METHANE-CONTAINING GASES
The invention relates to a method for the desulfurization of methane-containing gases by bamboo-based activated carbon. The method according to the invention is particularly suitable for the desulfurization of methane-containing gases such as biogas, landfill gas, mine gas, flue gas, marsh gas or natural gas with a view to further use of the gas or the sulfur extracted.
HIGH SELECTIVITY POLYIMIDE/PES BLEND HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE FOR GAS SEPARATIONS
A low cost, high selectivity asymmetric polyimide/polyethersulfone (PES) blend hollow fiber membrane, a method of making the membrane and its use for a variety of liquid, gas, and vapor separations such as deep desulfurization of gasoline and diesel fuels, ethanol/water separations, pervaporation dehydration of aqueous/organic mixtures, CO.sub.2/CH.sub.4, CO.sub.2/N.sub.2, H.sub.2/CH.sub.4, He/CH.sub.4, O.sub.2/N.sub.2, H.sub.2S/CH.sub.4, olefin/paraffin, iso/normal paraffins separations, and other light gas mixture separations. The polyimide/PES blend hollow fiber membrane is fabricated from a blend of a polyimide polymer and PES and showed surprisingly unique gas separation property with higher selectivities than either the polyimide hollow fiber membrane without PES polymer or the PES hollow fiber membrane without PES polymer for gas separations such as for H.sub.2/CH.sub.4, He/CH.sub.4, H.sub.2S/CH.sub.4, CO.sub.2/CH.sub.4 separations.
PROCESS AND PLANT FOR REMOVING THIOLS FROM SYNTHESIS GAS
The invention relates to a process and a plant for removing thiols from synthesis gas. Thiols and optionally thiophene and carbon disulfide are absorbed in a dedicated absorption stage with methanol as physical absorption medium. Methanol laden with at least thiols is freed of thiols in a stripping stage with methanol vapours as stripping gas and the methanol vapours-containing thiols are freed of methanol in a scrubbing stage. The process according to the invention minimizes methanol losses and the amounts of coolant required for the process.
Treatment of a methane stream comprising VOCs and carbon dioxide by a combination of an adsorption unit and a membrane separation unit
At least some VOCs are removed from a feed gas in an adsorption unit comprising at least three adsorbers following a pressure cycle with a phase shift, wherein the feed gas comprises at least methane, carbon dioxide and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The VOC depleted gas is fed to at least one membrane separation to produce a carbon dioxide-enriched permeate and a methane-enriched retentate. The flow of the feed gas stream is adjusted based upon one or both of a pressure or methane concentration of the gas stream entering the membrane separation unit and/or a pressure in the adsorption unit.
REGENERABLE HYDROGEN SULFIDE ADSORBENT AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF AND APPLICATION THEREOF
The present invention relates to a regenerable hydrogen sulfide adsorbent and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method specifically includes: 1) combining meta-aluminate as an active component with activated alumina as a carrier in a manner of impregnation, spray coating or solid phase mixing to obtain a precursor; 2) aging and drying the precursor, and finally performing roasting to obtain the adsorbent; and 3) processing the adsorbent to present a specific size and shape through shaping measures to meet industrial application requirements. Compared with the prior art, the adsorbent obtained according to the present invention can achieve an efficient removal effect on hydrogen sulfide gas at a material inlet, with a concentration adaption range of 0 to 1000 ppm and an effective removal precision of 0.1 ppm or below.

Process to prepare elemental sulphur
The invention is directed to a process to prepare elemental sulphur by (i) contacting an aqueous solution comprising bisulphide with oxidised sulphide-oxidising bacteria under anaerobic conditions wherein elemental sulphur is produced and a reduced sulphide-oxidising bacteria is obtained and (ii) wherein the reduced sulphide-oxidising bacteria are oxidised by transfer of electrons to an anode of an electrochemical cell to obtain the oxidised sulphide-oxidising bacteria.
Condensate stabilization process
A natural gas processing system is configured to process a two-phase flow in a natural gas transportation system. The natural gas processing system has an off-gas compression package with a compressor suction drum, joined to a stabilizer and to a first stage compressor. A first stage off-gas after cooler is joined to the compressor suction drum and a second stage off-gas suction drum. The second stage off-gas suction drum is operatively coupled to a two-phase separator. A second stage compressor is joined to the second stage off-gas suction drum and a second stage off-gas after cooler. The second stage off-gas after cooler is operatively coupled to an acid gas removal system. The off-gas compression package separates the liquid phase from an off-gas phase.
