20210007924 · 2021-01-14 ·

Techniques for a cervical orthotic device are provided. In an example, the device can include a base, sidewalls extending upwardly from the base, and a cervical support surface opposite the base and configured to unite the sidewalls. In certain examples, the sidewalls can include opposingly paired lateral sidewalls and first and second longitudinal sidewalls. In some examples, the cervical support surface can include a first planar portion adjacent the first longitudinal sidewall, a second planar portion adjacent the second longitudinal sidewall, and an arcuate portion intermediate the planar portions.

Treating medical conditions in body cavities

A device and method to treat an overgrowth of yeast in a body cavity and inflammatory and/or hemorrhagic conditions of a body cavity. The device comprising a shell, removal means, and a freezable filler contained in a chamber within the shell. When the filler is frozen and the device inserted into the body cavity, the shell cools the body cavity to a temperature that inhibits the replication of yeast and provides relief to symptoms. An external cooling component extending from the shell provides cooling at the body cavity opening. An expandable bladder in the shell provides tamponade treatment for body cavity hemorrhaging.

A hand therapy kit includes hand therapy modules and a housing having defined receptacles in which the hand therapy modules are removably disposed. A module presence sensor is disposed in each receptacle to detect the presence or absence of the corresponding hand therapy module. A microprocessor disposed in the hand therapy kit sends the module presence sensor data to a remote computer that analyzes the module presence sensor data to determine whether the patient is complying with a prescribed treatment regimen. The remote computer can generate warnings, alerts, and/or notifications when noncompliance is detected.

PRESERVATION AND TRANSPORT OF AN EX VIVO BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE COMPRISING ULTRASOUND APPLICATION
20200359618 · 2020-11-19 ·

The present invention relates to a device for transport and preservation of an ex vivo biological sample and corresponding method. The device comprises a chamber for containing the biological sample, delimitated by walls made of a thermal insulating material. The device, furthermore, incorporates cooling means that keep the temperature inside the chamber below the temperature outside the device. Finally, an ultrasound system suitable for generating and applying ultrasound on the biological sample is provided. The invention also proposes a method for transport and preservation which combines applying cooling and ultrasound to reduce cell damage in the biological sample.

Anatomically neutral arm support apparatus

A medical apparatus for supporting the shoulder complex and humerus in a neutral position includes an upper body garment and a forearm sleeve adjustably fastened to the garment in an anterior and transverse orientation. The patient inserts her arm in the sleeve and fastens an elbow strap around the elbow to secure the forearm in a horizontal anterior position near waistline. The sleeve is adjustable in position to place the humerus inline with the spinal column, thereby preventing adduction and internal rotation of the glenohumeral joint. A weight distribution strap further elevates the sleeve and forearm. The strap is secured in a superior anterior region of the shoulder and spaced from the neck thereby preventing injury to the internal anatomies in the neck region. Optionally, thermal therapy to the shoulder is supported by a removable thermal therapy pouch.
