The invention relates to an assistance device for assisting in the use of a device for dispensing a liquid product in the form of drops into a receiving organ of a subject, the dispensing device having a tank, the assistance device including a connector for connecting to the dispensing device, a surface bearing against the skin of the subject, arranged near an orifice for dispensing the liquid product, and means for detecting a contact between the bearing surface and the skin of the subject.

APPARATUS AND FORMULATIONS FOR SUPRACHOROIDAL DRUG DELIVERY

Drug formulations, devices and methods are provided to deliver biologically active substances to the eye. The formulations are delivered into scleral tissues adjacent to or into the suprachoroidal space without damage to the underlying choroid. One class of formulations is provided wherein the formulation is localized in the suprachoroidal space near the region into which it is administered. Another class of formulations is provided wherein the formulation can migrate to another region of the suprachoroidal space, thus allowing an injection in the anterior region of the eye in order to treat the posterior region.

NASOLACRIMAL DRAINAGE SYSTEM IMPLANTS FOR DRUG THERAPY

An implant for insertion through a punctum and into a canalicular lumen of a patient. The implant includes a matrix of material, a therapeutic agent dispersed in the matrix of material, a sheath disposed over a portion of the matrix of material and configured to inhibit the therapeutic agent from being released from the matrix of material into the canalicular lumen and to allow the therapeutic agent to be released from a surface of the matrix of material to a tear film, and a retention structure configured to retain the implant within the canalicular lumen.

GUIDE APPARATUS FOR TANGENTIAL ENTRY INTO SUPRACHOROIDAL SPACE

An apparatus includes a body and a pair of rigid legs extending from the body. The body includes an engagement feature configured to engage a deployment instrument. The legs are parallel with each other. Each leg has a sharp tip. The legs both extend along a plane. The body defines a guide opening. The guide opening is oriented transversely relative to the plane associated with the legs. The guide opening is sized to receive a cannula having a generally flat profile. The guide opening is configured to guide the cannula through a sclerotomy at a substantially tangential orientation.

Disclosed is a portable automatic electronic drop administration device and method of operation thereof. The device comprises a microcontroller communicatively coupled to at least an accelerometer and an electromechanical assembly to administer one or more drops of a liquid, semi-liquid or gaseous substance from any flexible container held within. The device detects whether it is in a suitable orientation before automatically self actuating the electromechanical assembly to administer one or more drops. It can be used in a variety of settings including self administration of eye drops, dispensing condiments or precise metering of liquid medications. Additionally, the device may contain sensors and wireless components to track usage and event data that may be communicated to a physician or other healthcare provider remotely.

Method of performing subretinal drainage and agent delivery

A method includes inserting a flexible cannula between a sclera and a choroid of an eye. The needle is advanced from a distal end of the flexible cannula, such that the needle pierces the choroid to access a subretinal space of the eye. The needle is used to aspirate fluid from the subretinal space. The fluid may be present from a retinal detachment, a macular hemorrhage, or other condition present before the procedure begins. The method may further include injecting the fluid in the subretinal space via the needle, in which case the fluid may be a balanced salt solution or other bleb fluid. The method may further include injecting a therapeutic agent into the subretinal space after aspirating the bleb fluid. The volume of injected bleb fluid may be greater than the volume of injected therapeutic agent.

Eye drop alignment assembly

An eye drop alignment assembly includes a ring that has a bottle of eye drops being extendable therethrough. The ring has a plurality of engagements thereon and the engagements are spaced apart from each other and are positioned at strategic points around the ring. A plurality of legs is each movably coupled to a respective one of the engagements. A plurality of extensions is each pivotally coupled to a respective one of the legs. Each of the extensions is positionable at a selected angle with respect to the respective leg for aligning with a respective top and bottom eyelid. Additionally, each of the extensions spaces the ring away from the eyeball associated with a top and bottom eyelids. In this way the ring aligns the bottle of eye drops with the eyeball for successfully dispensing eye drops onto the eyeball.
