A microsurgical device and methods of its use can be used for treatment of various conditions including eye diseases, such as glaucoma, using minimally invasive surgical techniques. A dual-blade device can be used for cutting the trabecular meshwork (TM) in the eye. The device tip provides entry into the Schlemm's canal via its size (i.e., for example, 0.2-0.3 mm width) and configuration where a ramp elevates the TM away from the outer wall of the Schlemm's canal and guides the TM to first and second lateral elements for creating first and second incisions through the TM. The dimensions and configuration of the blade is such that an entire strip of TM is removed without leaving TM leaflets behind and without causing collateral damage to adjacent tissues.

The device may be manually powered and may be provided without electronic controls. The device has a suction path which may be purged into a disposal enclosure to reduce the volume of material under the influence of the suction pressure during the procedure. The suction source may also be part of the hand-held unit to further reduce the suction path and suction volume.

Methods are disclosed comprising measuring, with a first scanner, a central part of the visual image, measuring, with a second scanner, a peripheral part of the visual image, calculating, by a processor, a pan-retinal measure of image contrast for an extended area of the retina, and optimizing a pan-retinal visual quality. Methods further comprising optimizing a pan-retinal visual quality are also disclosed. Systems are also disclosed comprising either a scanner or a laser, a non-transitory memory having instructions that, in response to an execution by a processor, the processor receives a first measurement of the central part of the visual image, receives a second measurement of the peripheral part of the visual image, and calculates a pan-retinal measure of image contrast for an extended area of the retina. Methods of manufacturing lenses, including contact lenses are disclosed.

GLAUCOMA TREATMENT DEVICES AND METHODS

Devices can be implanted in an eye to treat glaucoma and/or dry eye. The devices described herein include a body defining a lumen and having first and second ends and external and lumenal surfaces. The body has a length sufficient to provide fluid communication between the anterior chamber and tear film of the eye through the lumen when the device is implanted in the sclera. The body can include a radiused distal edge. A distal end portion of the body can be laterally flared. The body can include a mid-body portion that is laterally narrower than distal and proximal end portions of the body. Methods of treating glaucoma and/or dry eye, wherein the device is implanted in the sclera of an afflicted eye, are also described.

In a contact lens for corrected-cornea crosslinking, a relief region constituted by a concave portion and a pressing region constituted by a convex portion are formed on a side of the lens in contact with a cornea of a patient. When these regions are pressed to the cornea to change a shape thereof, and a curvature of the concave curved-surface to be formed on the cornea is defined as R.sub.0 and a curvature of the convex curved-surface of the pressing region is defined as R.sub.s, R.sub.s is set, for example for correcting myopia, to satisfy R.sub.s=R.sub.0+5.0 D to R.sub.0+10.0 D. When the contact lens having such a configuration is used for correcting the cornea and fixing the corrected state by crosslinking, the shape of the cornea can be accurately formed.
