20190151152 · 2019-05-23 ·

A unitary lens structure and method yielding a lens for eyewear formed to a unitary structure of a first lens portion and projecting portion adapted for grinding to a prescription lens. The unitary lens can include filtering material or layers only in the projecting portion or in both the projecting portion and first lens portion. Such structure is provided through forming the projecting portions to cured optical material first, and then positioning them in a mold for the first lens portion to be formed in the unitary structure upon curing of heated material forming the first lens portion.

EYEGLASSES

The invention relates to eyeglasses having two lens units that are fitted with a device for keeping the eyeglasses on a wearer's head. The eyeglasses having a nose bridge that connects the two lens units and includes a central portion to be disposed about the wearer's nose At least one of the lens units has a duct inside to which a lateral portion of the nose bridge is slidingly mounted using a mechanism for adjusting the position of the lens unit relative to the nose bridge. The adjusting mechanism has a member that is rotatably mounted in the duct. The member and the lateral portion of the nose bridge comprise a coupler designed to convert the rotation of the member into a relative translational movement between the lateral portion and the duct.

Rotary eyeglasses comprise a fixed frame bearing a nose abutment and means for holding the eyeglasses on the head, and a movable frame comprising optical members in front of the eyes, when the eyeglasses are in an operational position, wherein the movable frame is secured to the fixed frame by a multi-lever mechanism and is configured to be lifted up relative to the fixed frame and simultaneously to be rotated about its longitudinal axis owing to hinges located in points of securing the levers to the frames. The invention may be used in eyeglasses having positive lenses including reading eyeglasses, and also in protective eyeglasses of different types including sunglasses. The invention allows lifting lenses over the user's forehead, and thus facilitates looking either through lenses or beside lenses, and allows preventing contact between the inner surface of the lenses and the forehead, and thus avoiding contamination of the lenses.

A unitary lens structure is provided which is employable with spectacles as well as goggles and safety eyewear. The lens is formed as a unitary structure with projections having surfaces which are machinable for prescription eyewear extending from a first side surface of a larger shield. Damage from cracking of the shield at the intersections with the projection perimeters is prevented by non linear connections between the two surfaces.

Protective eyeshields have two lenses, which are interconnected at their proximal ends by an adjustable nose-bridge and are releasably connectable at their distal ends by two conjugate connecting straps. The lenses have a longitudinal convex curvature so that they follow the contours of the wearer's face. They are substantially trapezoidal in shape, tapering from the proximal end to the distal end. The lenses are made of a light-weight semi-rigid plastic, such as plexi-glass, and may be clear transparent or tinted. Plastic foam padding is provided along the longitudinal edges of the lenses to cushion the area of contact between the lenses and the wearer's face. The weight of the lenses is support from below by four support struts, two of which are nose supports and two which are cheek supports. Each of the support struts integrally comprises a stem element and a contact pad element.
