FACTOR CONCENTRATION GAUZE COMBINED WITH ENDOTHERMIC REACTION USED TO COMBAT VERY PROXIMAL TRAUMATIC AMPUTATION HEMORRHAGING
The disclosed invention is a device and method of use for gauze utilized in the treatment of hemorrhage. In an embodiment the device combines clotting factor concentrator gauze and urea in order to slow hemorrhage and prevent hemorrhage induced coagulopathy. In an embodiment, the gauze is comprised of a first layer comprised of gauze and a second layer embedded with urea. The urea reacts spontaneously when it comes into contact with water, and undergoes an endothermic reaction. This endothermic reaction cools the smaller blood vessels exposed from soft tissue trauma, causing enhanced platelet activity as well as vasoconstriction to minimize the bleeding that occurs before and after the clotting cascade is activated over the entire wound surface.
Chitosan foam medical devices and methods
The invention provides a solid foam wound dressing useful for hemorrhage control and wound repair, as well as methods for making such a wound dressing.
ELASTIC ADHESIVE COMPRESSION DRESSING
A compression dressing includes an elastic bandage strip that is elongated, transparent and self-adhering, and has a first outer side and a second inner side, with a first unextended state and a second elastically extended state. A self-adhesive surface is provided on the first outer side of the elastic bandage strip. An absorbent pad at a terminal end of the elastic bandage strip is applied to a wound, and the remainder of the elastic bandage strip may be wrapped around the absorbent pad and a body part to hold the compression dressing in place and to exert a compressive force on the wound. An elastic bandage strip and/or the absorbent pad includes one or more of spaced apart blood migration markings, compression markings, and a skin adhesive. Methods for applying a compression dressing to a wound to both observe the status and treat the wound are also disclosed.
HEMOSTATIC ABSORBENT PRODUCT FOR MUCOSAL MEMBRANES, KIT CONTAINIG THE SAME, AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
A kit that includes an absorbent product adapted for mucosal membrane hemostasis, and instructions using the absorbent product is disclosed. The absorbent product can include a liquid permeable pouch, and at least one sheet of absorbent material within the liquid permeable pouch. The instructions can include rolling and/or folding the absorbent product, placing the rolled and/or folded absorbent product proximate the site of the bleeding, and applying pressure to the absorbent product. The instructions can also include inserting the absorbent product into a mucous membrane, such as a nostril or the vaginal canal. Methods of utilizing the absorbent product and the kit are also disclosed.
SKIN-ADHESIVE ITEM
Items that can adhere to the skin for medical or paramedical use are described. Also described, is a skin-adhesive item.
SOLID DRESSING FOR TREATING WOUNDED TISSUE AND PROCESSES FOR MIXING FIBRINOGEN AND THROMBIN WHILE PRESERVING FIBRIN-FORMING ABILITY, COMPOSITIONS PRODUCED BY THESE PROCESSES, AND THE USE THEREOF
Disclosed are solid dressings for treating wounded tissue in mammalian patients, such as a human, comprising a haemostatic layer consisting essentially of a fibrinogen component and a fibrinogen activator, wherein the haemostatic layer(s) is cast or formed from a single aqueous solution containing the fibrinogen component and the fibrinogen activator. Also disclosed are methods for treating wounded tissue using these dressings and frozen compositions useful for preparing the haemostatic layer(s) of these dressings.
FIRST AID MEDICAL TREATMENT APPARATUS AND METHOD
A first aid medical treatment apparatus, wherein the apparatus' case and duct tape allow for efficient and easy use and creation of different bandages without necessitating every type of bandage being part of the first aid kit.
Multi-function emergency bandage
A unique multi-functional emergency bandage stops bleeding by: (1) optimizing mechanical properties and preventing ischemia and/or necrosis while applying enough pressure to help stop bleeding, and (2) incorporating inorganic anti-bleeding nano-structures (embedded within a gauze and/or microbial cellulose) with almost infinite life-time. Additionally, pathogen passage through the bandage is prohibited (via an intermediate filter layer). Together with the overall anti-microbial character of the bandage, the unique multi-functional bandage offers all these vital features within a single design. The unique bandage can be applied by using a single hand and bandaging direction can be changed using a unique binding apparatus. Visual aids, such as printed rectangles, on the final fabric provides the user with an indication of how to control the amount of stretch, as vertical rectangles would turn into horizontal rectangles when stretched too much, whereas rectangles turn to squares around the optimum region of the stress-strain curve.
Hemorrhage Control Devices and Methods
Embodiments herein are directed to a hemostatic medical device including an applicator having a receptacle with an output end and a moveable piston configured to move at least partially within the receptacle, and a plurality of liquid expandable articles disposed within the applicator, wherein each liquid expandable article has a volume greater than 50 mm.sup.3.
Wound care article having an absorbent shell
The invention relates to a wound care article (100; 200; 300; 400; 500) comprising at least one body (1; 11; 21) absorbing the liquid wound exudates, and at least one shell (2; 12; 22) at least partially encompassing the body (1; 11; 21). The shell (2; 12; 22) itself is designed to absorb fluids.
