In some embodiments, the treatment system may include an ultrasonic bubble generator fluidly coupled to a negative-pressure source, fluid source, and a dressing. Fluid may be drawn from the fluid source to the ultrasonic bubble generator, whereby micro-bubbles and ultrasonic waves may be generated in the fluid before the fluid is instilled to the dressing.

The apparatus comprises an absorbent layer for absorbing wound exudate, a liquid impermeable, gas permeable filter layer over the absorbent layer, a cover layer comprising at least one orifice and a first liquid and gas permeable transmission layer underlying the absorbent layer. The transmission layer is in fluid communication with the filter layer.

Super-absorbent, reduced-pressure wound dressing and systems

A super-absorbent dressing assembly for use with a reduced-pressure wound treatment system includes a breathable, fluid restricted dry layer for placement against a wound, a super-absorbent layer, and a non-breathable layer, and a drape extending over the non-breathable layer. A reduced-pressure interface is available to fluidly couple the super-absorbent layer to a reduced-pressure subsystem. The super-absorbent dressing assembly preferably supplies a compressive force when placed under reduced pressure. A reduced-pressure treatment system uses a super-absorbent bolster to treat wounds, e.g., linear wounds.

A dressing for applying pressure to a patient target site is provided. The dressing includes an elastic spacer longitudinally extending between first and second substrates. The elastic spacer is configured to be selectively moved between the first length and a second length. The second length is longer than the first length. A triggering element, when present, selectively maintains the elastic spacer at the second length and selectively prevents the elastic spacer from moving toward the first length. Portions of the triggering element are sequentially removable such that as each portion of the triggering element is removed, the elastic spacer sequentially moves from the second length toward the first length. The sequential movement of the elastic spacer from the second length toward the first length responsively urges the first and second substrates longitudinally toward one another to apply a predetermined amount of longitudinal force to the patient target site.

Various materials including medicament(s) may be communicated to the wound bed through the distal layer via the fenestrations, in various aspects. A structural member may be included in various aspects to secure the distal layer and pad to a skin surface, in various aspects. Methods of use of the wound therapy apparatus are disclosed herein. A negative pressure wound therapy system includes a wound dressing, at least one pump fluidly coupled to the fluid interface, a pressure sensor fluidly coupled to the wound dressing, a control housing, and an electrical coupler. The wound dressing includes a sealing layer, an absorbent layer adjacent to the sealing layer, and a fluid interface attached to at least one of the sealing layer or the absorbent layer. The at least one pump is configured to apply negative pressure to the fluid interface to draw fluid from the wound dressing via the fluid interface. The pressure sensor is configured to detect a fluid pressure of the wound dressing. The control housing is remote from the wound dressing. The electrical coupler is configured to removably connect the control housing to the at least one pump.
