Layered Therapy Bandage
20180161211 · 2018-06-14 ·

The subject Device is an integrated therapy system in a bandage-like package optimized for specific medical conditions or diseases. The Device is designed around a layered package and delivers optimum medications and healing conditions to the skin or another membrane. The layers within the Device consist of passive or active components including medications, fluidic reservoirs and transport, dispersal pads, sensors, and electronic components, and these layers can be applied or not applied to the condition being addressed.

Wound covering for wound monitoring and therapeutic agent delivery

A wound covering includes a flexible main body, and a sensor element incorporated into the main body. The sensor element includes a mesh formed from a plurality of fibers, and the sensor element is configured to undergo a change in appearance in response to a change in a parameter associated with wound exudate. The wound covering further includes a supply of therapeutic agent configured to diffuse the therapeutic agent from the wound covering into a wound when the wound covering is placed on the wound.

Vacuum wound therapy wound dressing with variable performance zones

A dressing for an open wound includes a cover layer dimensioned for positioning relative to a wound bed. The cover layer permits an evacuation of the space around the wound bed such that a sub-atmospheric pressure may be established to stimulate healing and facilitate the removal of fluid from the wound. Multiple performance zones in the cover layer allow the wound dressing to remain in position through repeated cycles of evacuation without placing undue strain on the wound bed. An outer peripheral zone may include a high peal-strength adhesive while an intermediate zone may include a shear resistant adhesive. A central zone may be devoid of any coating to maximize moisture transmission through cover layer.

Scalable microfluidic based artificial skin

A scalable microfluidic based artificial skin covers a variety of wounds while also providing efficient healing of the wounds. The artificial skin comprises a plurality of microfluidic panels separated by semi-permeable membranes, and also comprising a plurality of micro-pumps and micro-channels for carrying healing fluids in proximity to the wound on the natural skin. The panels form detachable patches that are inert and biocompatible. The panels are fabricated from polydimethylsiloxane materials and impregnated with silver nanocrystalline powder. A first panel partially engages the natural skin, partially supported by micro-pillars. Large micro-channels carry contaminants from the wound. A second panel and an optional third panel having micro-channels that carry healing fluids to the wound. A first and second semi-permeable membrane regulate passage of fluids, cellular components, and debris between the panels. An inlet port enables passage of healing fluids to the wound. An outlet port enables discharge of contaminants.

Multilayer garments worn during wound care

A wound recovery garment includes a multilayer fabric. The multilayer fabric comprises a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. The multilayer fabric draws moisture from the skin tissues, including wounded or burned tissue recovering from trauma. The first layer removes moisture from wounded tissue without sticking to skin. The first layer is formed from compressive, elastic material that supplies compression forces to tissue. The second layer is an absorbent layer that receives the moisture from the first layer and stores tissue moisture in a sponge-like fashion. The second layer is disposed between the first layer and the third layer. The third layer is an exterior layer and is visible to outside viewers. No body fluid or blood leaks through the third layer. Individuals recovering from trauma are able to comfortably go outside without being concerned with body fluids soaking through and being visible to others.
