Coated articles and methods of making the same
During an example coating method, a metallic substrate is provided. A foundation coat precursor is applied on the metallic substrate. The foundation coat precursor includes a matrix and a plurality of capsules present in the matrix. Each capsule includes a shell and a healing agent surrounded by the shell. A basecoat precursor is applied, and a clearcoat precursor is applied. The metallic substrate, the foundation coat precursor, the basecoat precursor, and the clearcoat precursor are heated i) after each respective application or ii) simultaneously, in order to cure the foundation coat, basecoat, and clearcoat precursors and respectively form a foundation coat, a basecoat, and a clearcoat. The foundation coat is ultraviolet (UV) stable and bonds the metallic substrate to the basecoat and the clearcoat.
PERHYDROPOLYSILAZANE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR FORMING OXIDE FILMS USING SAME
A Si-containing film forming composition comprising a catalyst and/or a polysilane and a NH free, C-free, and Si-rich perhydropolysilazane having a molecular weight ranging from approximately 332 dalton to approximately 100,000 dalton and comprising NH free repeating units having the formula [N(SiH3)x(SiH2-)y], wherein x=0, 1, or 2 and y=0, 1, or 2 with x+y=2; and x=0, 1 or 2 and y=1, 2, or 3 with x+y=3. Also disclosed are synthesis methods and applications for using the same.
COMPOSITION FOR FORMING SILICA LAYER AND SILICA LAYER
Provided are a composition for forming a silica layer including a silicon-containing polymer and a solvent, wherein when adding 70 g of the composition for forming the silica layer to a 100 ml container, leaving it at 40 C. for 28 days, and taking 1 ml of gas generated from the composition, 1 ml of the gas includes hydrogen gas (H.sub.2), silane gas (SiH.sub.4), and ammonia gas (NH.sub.3), and the hydrogen gas, silane gas, and ammonia gas satisfy Equation 1: [(hydrogen gas amount (ppm))/(silane gas amount (ppm)+ammonia gas amount (ppm))1.5], a silica layer manufactured therefrom, and an electronic device including the silica layer.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relates generally to methods of providing biomimetic superhydrophobic coatings to substrates, and more specifically to providing biomimetic inorganic silica or silane-based coatings that enable tunable hierarchical surface structures with high coating-to-substrate adhesion, resistance to various mechanical abradents, durability, shelf stability, and enhanced non-wettability or water-repellency.
INSULATING COATING-ATTACHED ELECTRICAL STEEL SHEET AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
An insulating coating-attached electrical steel sheet has, on at least one surface, an insulating coating including an insulating tensile coating layer A. A tension applied to the steel sheet by an insulating tensile coating layer having a coating weight of M/2 from a surface of the insulating tensile coating layer A is 0.80.sub.A or more, where M is a weight of the insulating tensile coating layer A, and .sub.A is the tension applied to the steel sheet by the insulating tensile coating layer A. The insulating coating-attached electrical steel sheet has excellent adhesion of the insulating coating. A method for manufacturing the insulating coating-attached electrical steel sheet is also provided.

The coated glass sheet of the present invention includes: a glass sheet; and a coating film provided on at least one principal surface of the glass sheet. The coating film includes a dense layer and a porous layer. The dense layer is positioned between the porous layer and the glass sheet.

A method for fabricating nanoporous polymer thin film includes steps as follows. A polymer thin film is provided, wherein a polymer solution including a polymer is coated on a substrate to form the polymer thin film. A swelling and annealing process is provided, wherein the polymer thin film is disposed inside a chamber with a vapor of a first solvent, the polymer thin film is swollen and annealed to form a swollen polymer thin film, and the swollen polymer thin film includes the polymer and the first solvent. A freezing process is provided, wherein the swollen polymer thin film is cooled to a temperature less than or equal to a crystallization temperature of the first solvent to crystallize the first solvent. A first solvent removing process is provided, wherein the first solvent is removed with a second solvent, such that a nanoporous polymer thin film is obtained.

The optical member is an optical member, having a porous layer in which a plurality of silicon oxide particles are bound with an inorganic binder on a base material, and the porous layer contains a fluorine-containing organic acid having 5 or more and 11 or less fluorine atoms in one molecule.
COATED COMBUSTION COMPONENT FROM LIQUID PRECURSOR THERMAL SPRAYING
A process for the manufacture of a coated combustion component. The process includes spraying one or more liquid or powdered precursors into a high temperature thermal jet directed to a surface of a combustion component and forming a surface coating derived from the precursors to provide the coated combustion component. The surface coating may comprise a phosphate glass or a silicate glass. The surface coating may have a coefficient of thermal expansion from 3 to 26 ppm/K. A coefficient of thermal expansion of the combustion component may be greater than or equal to the coefficient of thermal expansion of the surface coating. The spraying may comprise solution spraying, powder thermal spraying, suspension thermal spraying, or a combination thereof.
