WOUND DRESSING WITH APERTURED COVER SHEET
A wound dressing comprising an antimicrobial absorbent layer containing silver, and an apertured sheet covering the antimicrobial absorbent layer, wherein the apertured sheet is formed from a liquid-impermeable sheet material having an array of apertures therein, said apertures having a mean effective diameter of from about 0.5 mm to about 2 mm, and wherein the percentage open area of the apertured sheet is from about 7% to about 25%. The selection of apertures in this range provides enhanced antimicrobial efficacy.
ACTIVATED CARBON COMPOSITE WOUND DRESSING
Composite wound dressings including an activated carbon material, a barrier material layer, a liquid-absorbing material layer and an outer liquid-impermeable layer are disclosed herein. The composite wound dressings include a bond substantially bonding a portion of the liquid-impermeable outer layer and the barrier material layer to the activated carbon containing layer, the bond forming a sealed pouch of un-bonded layer of the composite and encapsulating the liquid-absorbing layer. Methods for manufacturing and using such composite wound dressings to effectuate healing of wounds on humans or other animals are described herein.

Dressing and Dressing Assembly for Preventing Pressure Ulcers
A dressing for guarding against the development of pressure ulcers has a recipient side and an environmental side. The dressing comprises a moisture barrier layer whose components include a sacral member, a left gluteal member and a right gluteal member. Each gluteal member has a base and an extension which extends longitudinally inferiorly further than the inferior edge of the sacral member by a dimension which is approximately no less than the longitudinal length of the sacral member. The dressing also includes a connective element on the recipient side of the dressing. The connective element is arranged to provide a zone of occlusion. In some embodiments the dressing includes electrodes and is a component of a dressing assembly which includes an exciter for stimulating gluteal muscles.
Dressing With Offloading Capability
Illustrative embodiments of a dressing for treating a tissue site may include a fluid transport layer, an offloading layer, and a liquid deflector. The offloading layer may be in fluid communication with the fluid transport layer, and the offloading layer may include a force offloading region and a target region. The liquid deflector may be positioned between the fluid transport layer and the offloading layer. The liquid deflector may be configured to deflect a liquid from the tissue site into contact with the target region of the offloading layer. The target region may be configured to expand for offloading forces at the tissue site. Other dressings, systems, and methods are disclosed.
NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY SYSTEM WITH DETECTION OF FULL ABSORBANT DRESSING
A method for detecting a state of a dressing includes measuring air pressure within a tube. The tube provides airflow between a pump device and the dressing. The method also includes determining whether the air pressure differs from a pressure setpoint by more than a preset limit, and running the pump to cause the air pressure to approach the pressure setpoint. In response to a determination that the air pressure does not differ from the pressure setpoint by more than the preset limit, the method also includes determining a duration of time since a last running of the pump, determining whether the duration of time since the last running of the pump exceeds a threshold duration, and, in response to a determination that the duration of time since the last running of the pump exceeds the threshold duration, generating an alert that indicates that the dressing is full.
Reduced-pressure, compression systems and apparatuses for use on a curved body part
A system for providing a force to a desired area on a curved body part of a person includes a dressing assembly shaped and configured to be placed on the desired area of the person, a releaseable circumferential member surrounding the curved body part that holds the dressing assembly against the desired area, a sealing subsystem for providing a fluid seal over the dressing assembly and the person's skin, and a reduced-pressure subsystem for providing a reduced pressure to the dressing assembly. When reduced pressure is supplied, the system generates the force against the desired area on the curved body part.
Wound dressing with welded elastic structure
A wound dressing includes an inelastic absorbent layer, an elastic film, and a plurality of welds. The inelastic absorbent layer is configured to absorb wound fluid and has a first side and a second, wound-facing side. The elastic film is configured to elastically stretch when a stretching force is applied to the wound dressing and elastically recover when the stretching force is removed. The plurality of welds fix the elastic film to the first side of the inelastic absorbent layer such that the elastic film and the inelastic absorbent layer elastically stretch and elastically recover as a unit.
WOUND DRESSING SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE
A wound dressing system has a dressing.
