OSTOMY MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD
An ostomy bag can include one or more sensors for measuring one or more metrics. An ostomy wafer can also include one or more sensors for measuring one or more metrics. The sensors can be temperature sensors and/or capacitive sensors, for example, and the metrics can include bag fill, leakage, skin irritation, and phase of stoma output, among others.
PATCHES FOR LOCALIZED USE
The present invention relates to a device and a method. The device of the present invention comprising a patch comprising: a substrate, and an adhesive on the substrate. Further, the patch is configured to be attached to a skin via the adhesive to form a pocket between the patch and the skin, to allow introduction of a material into the pocket, and to hold the material within the pocket.
Transdermal therapeutic system with high rate of utilization of active substance and dosing accuracy
A transdermal therapeutic system for administering at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient, including a polymer-based layer which is remote from the skin with a rate of application of at least 80 g/m.sup.2, and an adhesive skin-contact layer which is adjacent to the polymer-based layer remote from the skin and is based on acrylate copolymers with a rate of application of not more than 50 g/m.sup.2. The at least one active pharmaceutical ingredient is present in both the polymer-based layer remote from the skin and the skin-contact layer.
Adhesive wound dressing
A wound dressing comprising an adhesive layer having a skin-facing surface and a non-skin-facing surface, the non-skin-facing surface being provided with a backing layer, the dressing comprises a central portion comprising an absorbent adhesive, and an border portion surrounding the central portion, wherein the skin facing surface of edge portion of the adhesive layer is continuous and the skin facing surface of central portion is interrupted by interconnected cavities. The cavities provide a storage room and distribution center for wound exudates enabling the dressing to be applied to fast exuding wounds.
Medical Dressing
A medical dressing (30) is disclosed, comprising an adhesive layer (3) having a skin-facing surface (6) to adhere the medical dressing to a dermal surface, wherein said adhesive layer comprises a first chemical compound incorporated within said adhesive layer, and wherein at least a portion of said skin-facing surface comprises a coating (9) comprising a second chemical compound. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing such a medical dressing.
MULTI-LAYER SELF-ADHESIVE SURFACE PROTECTION FILM AND METHODS OF USE
Embodiments of the present invention relate to pressure-sensitive adhesive plastic film or sheet optionally having antimicrobial properties. The film or sheet can be applied to numerous frequent use objects and finds particular utility in the health care field. The pressure-sensitive adhesive plastic film or sheet can be supplied in pads that can be applied to both the outermost, or patient, side of the face shield, or it can be applied to the innermost, or healthcare professional, surface. After the object, such as a face shield, has been used, the top layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive plastic can be removed and discarded.
WOUND DRESSING WITH ADHESIVE MARGIN
A wound dressing comprising: a backing sheet; a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive on the backing sheet; an island of absorbent material having smaller area than the backing sheet and applied onto a central region of the backing sheet so as to leave a margin of adhesive- coated backing sheet around the absorbent material, and an apertured wound facing layer applied over the absorbent material and adhered to the backing sheet around said island by said pressure-sensitive adhesive, wherein the apertured wound facing layer comprises an apertured substrate having a coating of a silicone gel on the wound facing surface thereof, the open area of the apertured wound facing layer is from about 5% to about 75%, and the apertured wound facing layer comprises apertures having an open area of from about 2 mm2 to about 100 mm.sup.2.
MEDICAL DRESSINGS WITH STIFFENING SYSTEMS
Medical dressings including stiffening systems fixedly attached to backing layers are described herein along with methods of using the medical dressings. The stiffening system is fixedly secured to the backing to limit flexing and stretching of the backing layer. Typically, the medical dressing and stiffening system is applied over a medical device that is secured to skin. The stiffening system covers some of the medical device and also extends beyond the medical device. The stiffening system stabilizes the medical device over the skin.
Extensible dressings
The present invention relates to dressings such as bandages improved extensibility. The present invention further relates to dressings comprising an absorbent body and backing layer having improved extensibility.
TWO LAYER BANDAGE
A two layer bandage with a hole or opening larger than the wound area for a first layer in contact with the skin is shown and a second layer which carries an absorbent portion cover wound just above the open portion of the first layer. The absorbent is imbedded or attached in the body of the second layer such that the absorbent portion of the bandage can be replaced without disturbing the wound.
