Medical drape with pattern adhesive layers and method of manufacturing same

A medical drape for use with a reduced pressure system for providing reduced pressure to a tissue site is described. In some embodiments, the drape may include a flexible film, and an adhesive layer coupled to the flexible film. The adhesive layer may include a first adhesive disposed on a first portion of the flexible film in a first pattern. The first adhesive can be configured to secure the flexible film proximate to the tissue site. The adhesive layer generally includes a second adhesive disposed on a second portion of the flexible film in a second pattern. The second adhesive can be configured to seal the flexible film proximate to the tissue site. The first pattern and the second pattern are preferably registered so that the first portion and the second portion are offset to cover substantially different portions of the flexible film.

DRESSING-BASED TRACTION DEVICE AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter, a catheter, and a dressing to securely apply traction to the catheter where the catheter is disposed within a vasculature of a patient. The catheter adapter may include a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending therebetween. The catheter may extend from the distal end of the catheter adapter. The dressing may include a first section adjustably coupled to a second section. The first section may be configured to secure the catheter adapter and/or the catheter to the patient. The second section may be configured to be adjustably positioned relative to the first section to apply traction to the catheter within the vasculature.

A material engagement element sheet formed from a sheet material (10) incorporates a pattern of material engagement element slots (14), each slot containing an array of material engagement elements (20) which have a tapered distal section (30), a flange section (34) and a proximal section (32) which is attached to an edge of the slots in the sheet material. The material engagement element sheet material may be a single layer of shape memory material, or the sheet material may be a composite of different layers some of which may include pre-strained shape memory materials with distinguishable activation parameters. The material engagement element slot configuration allows for the simultaneous processing of the material engagement elements. The material engagement elements may be processed such that they are in a state that is substantially perpendicular to the surface of the material engagement element sheet. The configuration of the flexible base material and the pattern of the material engagement element slots may be used in order to manufacture various material engagement element devices including a material engagement element pad device (166), a cylindrical material engagement element device (104, 105), and a spherical material engagement element device (152).

A pressure ulcer dressing assembly includes a cushion that is hollow. The cushion is curved such that the cushion has a C shape and the cushion is positionable around a pressure ulcer on a patient having the cushion partially encircling the pressure ulcer. A gel fills the cushion and the gel absorbs weight of the patient when the cushion is positioned on the patient. In this way the cushion inhibits the pressure ulcer from is exposed to pressure thereby enhancing healing the pressure ulcer. A dressing is coupled to the cushion, the dressing extends laterally across the cushion and the dressing covers the pressure ulcer when the cushion is positioned on the patient. A pair of adhesive pads is each coupled to the dressing for retaining the dressing and the cushion on the patient.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING SILICONE ADHESIVE COMPOSITION

Provided is a method for easily producing a silicone adhesive that has a reduced amount of remaining silanol groups, contains no aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, and is capable of preventing an impact(s) on the human body as well as skin irritancy as caused by remaining and volatilizing substances. The method includes: a first step of mixing, under the presence of a basic catalyst, (A) a polydiorganosiloxane, (B) an organopolysiloxane whose molar ratio of R.sup.1.sub.3SiO.sub.0.5 unit/SiO.sub.2 unit is 0.5 to 1.5, and (C) an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent; and a second step of treating a product obtained in the first step with an organic disilazane compound and/or a silane compound, for the purpose of lowering an amount of silanol groups contained in a solid product obtained after the treatment to a range of 0.002 to 0.03 mol/100 g of the solid product obtained after the treatment.
