Hybrid sealing tape
A dressing for treating a tissue site with negative pressure is described. The dressing includes a tissue interface and a sealing member. The dressing further includes a sealing tape configured to be coupled to the sealing member and epidermis. The sealing tape includes a bonding adhesive and a sealing adhesive coupled to a side of the sealing tape. The sealing tape includes a layer of the bonding adhesive disposed on a film layer and a layer of sealing adhesive having one or more apertures disposed on the bonding adhesive. The sealing tape can include a layer of the bonding adhesive disposed on a portion of a film layer and a layer of the sealing adhesive disposed on a uncovered portions of the film layer.
DRESSING
A dressing includes a drape, a pressure-sensitive acrylic-based adhesive disposed on a skin-facing surface of the drape, an island of absorbent material including non-woven superabsorbent fibers, and a wound contact layer. The drape is a thin film capable of maintaining a negative pressure underneath the drape upon application of a vacuum. The island of absorbent material has a smaller area than the drape and is connected with and disposed beneath the sin-facing surface of the drape so as to leave a first margin of adhesive-coated drape around the island of absorbent material. The island of absorbent material further includes interruptions to reduce or eliminate tension or compression in the island of absorbent material as the dressing bends. The wound-contact layer is disposed on a skin-facing side of the island of absorbent material. The wound contact layer is configured not to stick to a wound.
MEDICAL DRAPE WITH PATTERN ADHESIVE LAYERS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME
A medical drape for use with a reduced pressure system for providing reduced pressure to a tissue site is described. In some embodiments, the drape may include a flexible film, and an adhesive layer coupled to the flexible film. The adhesive layer may include a first adhesive disposed on a first portion of the flexible film in a first pattern. The first adhesive can be configured to secure the flexible film proximate to the tissue site. The adhesive layer generally includes a second adhesive disposed on a second portion of the flexible film in a second pattern. The second adhesive can be configured to seal the flexible film proximate to the tissue site. The first pattern and the second pattern are preferably registered so that the first portion and the second portion are offset to cover substantially different portions of the flexible film.
PRESSURE ULCER DRESSING ASSEMBLY
A pressure ulcer dressing assembly includes a cushion that is hollow. The cushion is curved such that the cushion has a C shape and the cushion is positionable around a pressure ulcer on a patient having the cushion partially encircling the pressure ulcer. A gel fills the cushion and the gel absorbs weight of the patient when the cushion is positioned on the patient. In this way the cushion inhibits the pressure ulcer from is exposed to pressure thereby enhancing healing the pressure ulcer. A dressing is coupled to the cushion, the dressing extends laterally across the cushion and the dressing covers the pressure ulcer when the cushion is positioned on the patient. A pair of adhesive pads is each coupled to the dressing for retaining the dressing and the cushion on the patient.
MEDICAL ARTICLE SECUREMENT DEVICE COMPRISING A VISCOELASTIC POLYMER
The disclosed securement device for medical tubing has a polymeric film and adhesive. The polymer film has a first major surface, a second major surface opposite the first major surface, a first flat portion, a second flat portion, a formed bend between the first flat portion and second flat portion, the bend defining a channel, and a notch formed through the polymer film adjacent the bend and between the first flat portion and second flat portion, such that the notch is aligned with the channel. Then adhesive is on at least a portion of the second major surface of the polymer film.
Silicone wound and scar treatment system and method
The present invention relates to a dispenser for the silicone sheeting and the adhesive anchors and method for treating sites, such as wounds or closed incisions, using the silicone sheeting and anchors. The silicone sheeting may be provided in the form of a roll, which includes a leader. The silicone sheeting may be cut from the roll, or may be of precut sizes. Adhesive anchors may be cut from a roll or may be of precut sizes. The dispenser allows for easy access to silicone sheeting for wound treatment and adhesive anchors for securement of the silicone sheets, especially in high tension areas of the body.
MEDICAL ARTICLE SECUREMENT DEVICE COMPRISING A VISCOELASTIC POLYMER
Medical article securement systems comprising a viscoelastic polymer and optionally a base layer for securing a medical article to the body of a patient, and particularly, for securing various catheter systems, tubes, or other elongated medical devices to the body of a patient and methods of making and using such.
MEDICAL TAPE
In order to provide an elastic medical tape having an especially excellent elastic function and a high effect of alleviating persistent skin irritation during application duration caused by an application-duration shrink force, and applicable to skin that hypersensitively reacts to even insignificant irritation, disclosed is a medical tape for alleviating persistent skin irritation during application duration caused by an application-duration shrink force of an elastic base member of an elastic medical tape, the medical tape including: an elastic base member portion (1) having an elastic function; an adhesive portion (2) having a function of applying and holding the elastic base member portion (1) to skin; and an anti-expansion portion (3) having a function of preventing expansion of the elastic base member portion, the anti-expansion portion (3) overlying the elastic base member portion (1), wherein, after in a manufacturing process, the elastic base member portion (1) and the anti-expansion portion (3) are laminated while the elastic base member portion is in a slacked state or in a not-pulled state, and in the manufacturing process, the elastic base member portion (1) and the anti-expansion portion (3) are laminated while a residual shrink force is not generated in the elastic base member portion (1) in order to reduce the residual shrink force of the elastic base member portion (1), the adhesive portion (2) is applied to skin while preventing expansion of the medical tape, and the anti-expansion portion (3) is then removed.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TRAUMA-FREE APPLICATION AND REMOVAL OF LIGHT DEACTIVATED ADHESIVE DRAPES
Provided herein is a system and method for trauma-free application and removal of light deactivated adhesive drapes. One aspect provides a system comprising a drape, at least one photosensitive adhesive portion having a release agent, and at least one acrylic and/or polyurethane adhesive portion, where the system is adapted to be coupled to a tissue site and released therefrom upon or after exposure to an external stimulus such as certain wavelengths of light. The system may have a removable blocking layer to prevent the photosensitive adhesive from being exposed to deactivation wavelengths prematurely. Another aspect provides a method for application and removal of a drape using by removing the removable blocking layer and applying light to the drape to deactivate the photosensitive adhesive portion and promote easy, clean, and less painful removal of the drape. When the photosensitive adhesive portion is deactivated, the acrylic and/or polyurethane adhesive portion maintains adhesion between the drape and the tissue until removal of the drape.
