METHOD FOR SELECTIVE ABSORPTION OF LEAD IONS FROM HEAVY METAL WASTEWATER BY ELECTRIC FIELD ENHANCEMENT

A method for selective adsorption of lead ions from heavy metal wastewater by electric field enhancement relating to a method for recovering lead ions from heavy metal wastewater. The method aims to solve the technical problems that it is difficult to recover heavy metals from a complex water environment in well-targeted manner and recovery purity is poor because of poor selectivity of the existing adsorbents. The adsorption selectivity to Pb.sup.2+ is enhanced under an electric field by applying a tannic acid@graphene oxide conductive aerogel material to water heavy metal electrochemical adsorption system as a conductive adsorbent. In the method, the conductive layer of the tannic acid@graphene oxide conductive aerogel material may be optimized through electrochemical reduction, so that the material has better conductivity, and has better selectivity to lead ions under an electric field.

CONDUCTIVE POLYMER GRAFTED REUSABLE 3D PLATFORM FOR WATER RESTORATION

A platform and system for concentration, reduction and regeneration of heavy metals and other contaminants from fluids is provided. The platform has a three-tiered hierarchical porous structure, composed of micropores formed by woven carbon cloth, nanopores formed after carbon nanotube growth on the cloth fibers and mesopores formed by a polymer outer layer. The material of the platform can be incorporated into cells with two electrodes with properly functionalized PDAN grafted 3D carbon as an anode and cathode respectively. Metal ions and toxic anions in water will be captured selectively by primary amine, secondary amine and quaternary amine groups in porous PDAN on the anode. Metals are captured and reduced by the cathode.

Waste Water Treatment Process

A waste water treatment system utilizing a series of individual modules which, when assembled, form a beginning contaminate collection chamber attached at the starting end of a main fluid treatment tank, in which is housed an array of anodes and cathodes. A center contaminate collection chamber can be attached at the oppose end of the main treatment tank which provides an internal fluid pathway to allow fluid transfer from the first treatment tank into a second treatment tank. Alternatively, the center contaminate collection chamber can be used when multiples of treatment tanks are assembled to work in tandem, or an ending contaminate collection chamber can be attached to an ending treatment module to complete the expandable waste water treatment system.

Expandability of the system can therefore accommodate various waste water treatment mechanisms, residence time and manner of treatment.

“Biocathode MCL,” designated for its main bacterial constituents (Marinobacter, Chromatiaceae, and Labrenzia), is a stable microbial community enriched from seawater that forms biofilms on the surfaces of electrodes. These biofilms are effective to perform carbon fixation without the need for external electrical power nor sunlight applied thereto.

Capacitive deionization electrode

A process for the manufacturing of 3D reduced graphene oxide/Fe.sub.2O.sub.3 material includes the following steps: (i) putting in contact a graphene oxide (GO) water dispersion with an aqueous solution of iron(II) sulfate; (ii) hydrothermal treatment; and (iii) freezing the reaction product obtained in step (ii) at a temperature ≤−5° C.; and (iv) lyophilisation. A 3D reduced graphene oxide/Fe.sub.2O.sub.3 material is obtainable by the process and further relates to electrodes for CDI devices having the material. A method for removing ions from a fluid, like saline water, using the capacitive deionization device includes applying a voltage to the electrodes while supplying the fluid into the capacitive deionization device.
