The present disclosure describes methods for silylating aromatic organic substrates, and associated chemical systems, said methods comprising or consisting essentially of contacting the aromatic organic substrate with a mixture of (a) at least one organosilane and (b) at least one strong base, under conditions sufficient to silylate the aromatic substrate.

NANOPARTICLES OF CO COMPLEXES OF ZERO-VALENT METALS THAT CAN BE USED AS HYDROSILYLATION AND DEHYDROGENATIVE SILYLATION CATALYSTS

Nanoparticles that can be used as hydrosilylation and dehydrogenative silylation catalysts. The nanoparticles have at least one transition metal with an oxidation state of 0, chosen from the metals of columns 8, 9 and 10 of the periodic table, and at least one carbonyl ligand, preferably a silicide.

Process for preparing platinum organosiloxane complexes

A platinum organosiloxane complex is prepared by a process including 1) combining A) a platinous halide and B) a ketone, and thereafter 2) adding C) a polyorganosiloxane having, per molecule, 2 to 4 silicon bonded terminally unsaturated hydrocarbon groups having from 2 to 6 carbon. The platinum organosiloxane complex prepared by the process is useful as a hydrosilylation catalyst.

CARBON BASED MATERIALS AS SOLID-STATE LIGANDS FOR METAL NANOPARTICLE CATALYSTS

High activity metal nanoparticle catalysts, such as Pd or Pt nanoparticle catalyst, are provided. Adsorption of metal precursors such as Pd or Pt precursors onto carbonbased materials such as graphene followed by solventless (or low-solvent) microwave irradiation at ambient conditions results in the formation of the catalysts in which metal nanoparticles are supported on i) the surface of the carbon based materials and ii) in/on/within defects/holes in the carbon based materials.

{In formula (1), R.sup.1 to R.sup.3 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1-30 monovalent organic group which may have been substituted by a halogen atom and may be separated by one or more atoms selected from among oxygen, nitrogen, and silicon atoms, and at least one pair among R.sup.1 to R.sup.3 may be bonded together to form a C.sub.1-30 bridged substituent which may be optionally separated by one or more atoms selected from among oxygen, nitrogen, and silicon atoms; the L moieties each independently represent an isocyanide ligand represented by the formula CNR.sup.4 (2) (wherein R.sup.4 represents a C.sub.1-30 monovalent organic group which may have been substituted by a halogen atom and may be separated by one or more atoms selected from among oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and silicon atoms); and n is 4.}

Process for preparing platinum organosiloxane complexes using an enone additive

A platinum organosiloxane complex is prepared by a process including combining A) a platinous halide; B) a ketone; C) an enone additive distinct from any other starting materials or rearrangement products thereof; and D) a polyorganosiloxane having, per molecule, 2 to 4 silicon bonded terminally unsaturated hydrocarbon groups having from 2 to 6 carbon. The platinum organosiloxane complex prepared by the process is useful as a hydrosilylation catalyst.
