PROTECTIVE EYE SHIELD
A wearable medical device assembly for therapeutic treatment of a person includes: a wearable medical device configured to be applied over a portion of the person; a first anchor and a second anchor each comprising an adhesive configured to affix the respective anchor to the person's skin; and an attachment system that selectively attaches the wearable medical device to the first anchor and the second anchor, wherein the attachment system permits the wearable medical device to be detached from, and re-attached to, one or both of the anchors while both of the anchors remain affixed to the person's skin
Method of treating prolapse of a vagina
A method of treating prolapse of a vagina includes supporting the vagina by implanting a sacrocolpopexy support and locating an exterior surface of the vagina between leg portions of a vaginal cuff section of the support, and securing a head section of the support to a ligament or a sacrum while isolating the head section from contact with tissue of the vagina.
TRANSLUMINAL ANGIOPLASTY DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE
A percutaneous transluminal angioplasty device includes a catheter defining one or more lumens. A filter is coupled to the catheter adjacent a distal end of the catheter, and the filter is movable between an unexpanded and expanded configuration via a filter activation wire that extends through a lumen. An expandable balloon is coupled to the catheter proximally of the filter, and a stent is disposed over at least a portion of the balloon. To deploy the stent to a target site, the filter is first moved into its expanded position via the filter activation wire. Then, the stent is expanded, and the balloon is inflated to expand the stent further radially. The balloon is then deflated, the filter is contracted, and the catheter, balloon, and filter are removed from the body.
PROSTHETIC HEART VALVE LEAFLET COMMISSURE ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS
An assembly and associated method for a commissure of a prosthetic heart valve is disclosed. As one example, a method includes forming a plurality of commissures with a plurality of leaflets of a prosthetic heart valve, wherein each commissure is formed by: folding each commissure tab of each leaflet into a series of overlapping layers, each folded commissure tab arranged outward of, in a lateral direction, a portion of a body of the leaflet that is directly connected to the commissure tab; pairing each folded commissure tab of each leaflet with a folded commissure tab of another leaflet; and securing at least a portion of the series of overlapping layers of each folded commissure tab in its folded configuration.
IMPLANT FOR HEART VALVE
A heart valve repair system includes a delivery sheath and an implant that includes a frame having a surface configured to contact an upstream surface of a native heart valve. First and second gripping members are coupled to the frame and each (1) includes first and second arms and (2) is configured to clamp a respective native leaflet. The implant is disposed in the sheath in a delivery state in which the frame defines a wall fully surrounding a central longitudinal axis of the implant. The distal end of the wall defines a distal opening of the frame. The distal end of the wall is disposed proximally to the entire first tissue-engaging surface of each of the gripping members and proximally to the entire second tissue-engaging surface of each of the gripping members. Other embodiments are also described.
DEVICE FOR SECURING HEART VALVE LEAFLETS
A heart valve prosthesis is provided that includes a first member and a second member. The first member comprises a first central portion to be disposed adjacent to a line of coaptation on a first side of two adjacent heart leaflets and peripheral portions to be placed into direct contact with the two adjacent heart leaflets. The second member is separate from or can be separable from the first member, for example during delivery. The second member has a central portion and peripheral portions configured to be placed into direct contact with a second side of the two adjacent heart leaflets.
Bifurcated medical device for treating a target site and associated method
Embodiments of the present invention provide medical devices and methods for treating a target site within the body. For example, one embodiment provides a stent graft for treating a target site proximate to a bifurcated lumen, wherein the stent graft includes a first tubular structure having proximal and distal ends and a side wall extending therebetween. The first tubular structure includes an opening defined within the side wall and is configured to define a first portion having first and second ends and a second portion having first and second ends. The opening corresponds to the first ends of the first and second portions and the second ends of the first and second portions respectively correspond to the proximal and distal ends of the first tubular structure, and at least a portion of the first and second portions are configured to be positioned within respective branches of a bifurcated lumen.
HANDLE LOCKING MECHANISMS FOR A TRANSCATHETER DELIVERY SYSTEM
A locking mechanism for a transcatheter delivery system is disclosed. As one example, the locking mechanism may comprise a first fixing member configured to be coupled to an introducer sheath, a second fixing member configured to be coupled to a handle of a delivery apparatus, and a locking arm configured to be removably coupled at a first end to one of the first fixing member and the second fixing member and fixedly or removably coupled at a second end to another one of the first fixing member and the second fixing member, wherein the locking arm is moveable between a first position where an axial position of the second fixing member is not fixed relative to the first fixing member via the locking arm and a second position where the axial position of the second fixing member is fixed relative to the first fixing member via the locking arm.
EXPANSION AND LOCKING MECHANISM FOR MECHANICALLY EXPANDABLE VALVES
An implantable prosthetic device can include a radially expandable and compressible frame including an inflow end portion and an outflow end portion. The frame including a plurality of struts, and at least one expansion and locking mechanism having a first member, a second member extending at least partially into the first member, and a third member. The third member can include an engagement portion. The plurality of struts can include a first strut and a second strut pivotably coupled to one another to form an apex, the first strut having a first flange and the second strut having a second flange. When the frame is expanded, distal advancement of the third member can position the engagement member between the first and second flanges such that they engage the engagement member to resist pivoting of the first and second struts relative to one another to resist compression of the frame.
Digit Prosthesis Assembly
A digit prosthesis assembly is described. Embodiments of the digit prosthesis assembly include, but are not limited to, an attachment assembly, a thumb assembly, one or more finger assemblies, a pinky finger assembly, a palm engagement assembly, and combinations thereof.
