Silicone polyurea block copolymers are prepared by copolymerizing: (a) a diamine composition that includes a polyethylene glycol diamine, and optionally, a dipiperidyl alkane; (b) a monofunctional silicone isocyanate; and (c) a diisocyanate. Compositions useful as passivating coatings comprising the block copolymer are also provided, and substrates coated with the compositions. Methods of preparing and using the compositions are also described.

Coating Compositions Containing Acid Functional Polyol Polymers and Coatings Formed Therefrom

A coating composition includes: (a) an acid functional polyol polymer having an acid value of greater than 9 mg KOH/g and less than 60 mg KOH/g, and a hydroxyl value of from 100 to 300 mg KOH/g; (b) a non-aminoplast derived crosslinker reactive with the acid functional polyol polymer; and (c) a non-aqueous liquid medium. Further, an equivalent ratio of functional groups on the crosslinker reactive with hydroxyl functional groups to hydroxyl functional groups on the acid functional polyol polymer is within a range of from 0.5 to 1.5. The coating composition is substantially free of an external catalyst. The coating composition cures at a temperature of less than 80° C.

Elastomer, method for preparation thereof, and use thereof

Disclosed is a segmented thermoplastic elastomer that can be a polyurethane, polyurea, or polyurethane-urea comprising soft segments and hard segments, wherein the soft segments are made of polyolefin diols or polyolefin diamine that may have 0 to 1000 carbon atoms in the main chain, wherein each carbon atom in the main chain may have 0 to 2 side chains and each side chain may have 0 to 30 carbon atoms, the hard segment is made of a diisocyante and a chain extender, the hard segments make up 10-60% of the elastomer and the soft segments make up the rest, the number-average molecular weight of the elastomer is 5×10.sup.3-1000×10.sup.3 g/mol, the ultimate elongation of the elastomer is 100-1000%, the Young's modulus is 1 to 3,000 MPa, and the ultimate tensile strength is 10-100 MPa. Also disclosed are a method for preparing the segmented thermoplastic elastomer and use of segmented thermoplastic elastomer.

TWO-COMPONENT POLYURETHANE COMPOSITION

A multi-component composition contains a) a polyol component having a1) acrylate polyol and a2) at least one of polyester polyol and polyether polyol, wherein the equivalent ratio of hydroxyl groups of acrylate polyol to hydroxyl groups of the at least one of polyester polyol and polyether polyol is in the range of 0.4 to 3.8, and b) an isocyanate component containing b1) aliphatic polyisocyanate monomer, dimer and/or trimer, and b2) aliphatic polyisocyanate prepolymer, wherein the equivalent ratio of isocyanate groups of aliphatic polyisocyanate monomer, dimer and/or trimer to isocyanate groups of aliphatic polyisocyanate prepolymer is in the range of 0.5 to 2.6. The multi-component composition is suitable for use as a top coat on elastic membranes, in particular roofing membranes, to provide sufficient weathering resistance/protection.

The invention provides a waterborne polyurethane emulsion and preparation method and use thereof. The method comprises the steps of: heating and dehydrating a macromolecular diol, and then reacting with a first polyisocyanate to obtain a first prepolymer; reacting the first prepolymer with a second polyisocyanate to obtain a second prepolymer; reacting the second prepolymer with a hydrophilic chain extender and a small-molecule chain extender to obtain a third prepolymer; reacting the third prepolymer with a salt forming agent, followed by emulsification upon addition of a post-chain extender, and by desolvation to obtain a polyurethane emulsion; wherein the molar amount of the first polyisocyanate is less than that of the second polyisocyanate, and the molar ratio of the first polyisocyanate to the macromolecular polyol is less than 1:3. The condom prepared using the polyurethane emulsion of the present invention has the characteristics of high elasticity and high strength.
