AQUEOUS PRIMER COATING
The present invention relates to novel coatings which are applied from an aqueous phase to substrates such as plastics, and which are overlaid with other coatings. These coatings are characterized by particularly good adhesive strength, in particular on plastics, and are thus particularly commercial.
Highly-filled polyurethane composites with non-silane treated glass fibers
Polyurethane composites comprising non-silane treated glass fibers and methods of manufacturing are described herein. The polyurethane composites can include (a) a polyurethane formed by the reaction of (i) one or more isocyanates selected from the group consisting of diisocyanates, polyisocyanates, and mixtures thereof, and (ii) one or more polyols; (b) a filler; and (c) non-silane treated glass fibers. In some instances, none of the glass fibers in the polyurethane composites are silane treated. The polyurethane composites comprising the non-silane treated glass fibers can have a flexural strength that is greater than the flexural strength of an identical composition wherein the non-silane treated glass fibers are replaced with silane-treated glass fibers. Articles comprising the polyurethane composites are also disclosed herein.
OIL RESISTANT ADHESIVE COMPOSITION
This invention relates to an oil resistant adhesive composition, comprising at least one crystalline polyester polyol; at least one first amorphous aromatic polyester polyol having a glass transition temperature less than 0° C.; at least one second amorphous aromatic polyester polyol having a glass transition temperature greater than or equal to 0° C.; and at least one polyisocyanate. The oil resistant adhesive composition has excellent oil resistance and can be well applied to be used in wearable devices.
Expanding polyurethane foam and methods and systems for using same
The present disclosure relates generally to methods, devices and systems for insulation, e.g., of cavities associated with walls, ceilings, floors and other building structures, with foam insulation. In one aspect, the disclosure provides a method for providing a cavity of a building with an expanded foam insulation. The method includes dispensing an amount of an expanding foam insulation into the cavity, the expanding foam insulation being dispensable and expandable to provide the expanded foam insulation material, the expanding foam insulation material formed from a premix comprising at least one polyol, at least one polyisocyanate, a blowing agent, and an encapsulated catalyst, the encapsulated catalyst comprising a plurality of catalyst capsules, each comprising an amount of catalyst and a capsule shell encapsulating the catalyst, wherein the dispensing is performed to apply a force to the encapsulated catalyst sufficient to break capsules and release catalyst, the released catalyst initiating reaction between the at least one polyol and the at least one isocyanate; and then allowing the dispensed amount of expanding foam insulation to substantially finish expanding after it is dispensed in the cavity, thereby forming the expanded foam insulation in the cavity.
Adhesive composition
A two-component solventless polyurethane adhesive composition including (A) at least one isocyanate component and (B) at least one polyol component. The isocyanate component (A) comprises an isocyanate prepolymer that is the reaction product of (Ai) a polyisocyanate and (Aii) an isocyanate-reactive component; wherein the isocyanate-reactive component comprises (Aiia) at least one polyol having a functionality greater than two, (Aiib) at least one aromatic polyester polyol having a functionality of greater than two, and (Aiic) at least one hydrophobic polyol. The polyol component (B) comprises (Bi) at least one polyether polyol having a functionality greater than two, (Bii) at least one aromatic polyester polyol transesterified with a natural oil, and (Biii) at least one phosphate ester polyol. A method for forming a laminate is also disclosed, the method comprising the steps of: (I) mixing the above reactants (components (A) and (B)) to form a solventless adhesive composition, (II) applying a layer of the solventless adhesive composition to a surface of a first substrate, (III) bringing the layer of the solventless adhesive composition on the first substrate into contact with a surface of a second substrate to form a laminate, and (IV) curing the solventless adhesive composition. A laminate comprising the above solventless adhesive composition is also disclosed.
HFO-containing compositions and methods of producing foams
Polyurethane foam-forming compositions, methods of producing polyurethane foams, polyurethane foams produced from such compositions made by such methods, as well as isocyanate-reactive compositions. The polyurethane foam-forming compositions include a polyisocyanate; a polyol blend, and a physical blowing agent composition. The polyol blend includes an aromatic amine-initiated polyether polyol having an OH number of at least 200 mg KOH/g and a functionality of at least 3, wherein (i) the aromatic amine-initiated polyether polyol having an OH number of at least 200 mg KOH/g is present in amount of at least 20% by weight, based on the total weight of polyol, and (ii) the polyol blend has a content of —C.sub.2H.sub.4O— units of 2 to 7% by weight, based on total weight of the polyurethane foam-forming composition. The physical blowing agent composition includes cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene and trans-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene.
Two-component polyurethane or polyisocyanurate low pressure spray foam composition containing a gaseous blowing agent comprising pressurized carbon dioxide
Storage-stable two-component polyurethane or polyisocyanurate spray foam compositions are disclosed, said compositions comprising: (a) an A-side component comprising one or more polyisocyanate and one or more blowing agent; and (b) a B-side component comprising one or more polyol and one or more blowing agent comprising pressurized gaseous carbon dioxide and one or more liquid blowing agent; wherein both the A-side component and the B-side component, separately, generate less than 300 ppm of fluoride ion after one week of aging at 50° C.
Dimensionally stable closed-cell and rigid foams produced with methylal blowing agent
A method of producing a closed-cell and rigid foam. The method comprises reacting an isocyanate composition including one or more polyisocyanates and a polyol composition including one or more polyols including one or more aromatic polyester polyols having a hydroxyl functionality of greater than 2 and one or more physical and/or chemical blowing agents including methylal to form a closed-cell and rigid foam configured to retain at least 85% of an initial volume of the closed-cell and rigid foam when exposed to about 97% relative humidity at about 70° C. for at least seven or more days.
FLEXIBILIZED POLYURETHANES FOR FLEXIBLE PACKAGING ADHESIVE WITHOUT AROMATIC AMINE MIGRATION
Provided is an adhesive comprising a reaction product of (A1) an aliphatic isocyanate having an NCO group content of 18 to 64 and (A2) a polyol or polyamine having a molecular weight of from 400 to 4000; and (B) a polyaspartate compound, wherein viscosity of the adhesive, as measured @ 23° C. according to ASTM D4212-16, remains below 60 seconds for after four hours, and wherein the adhesive develops an acceptable bond strength to a substrate, defined as having a minimum of 150 g/in. measured @ 23° C. according to ASTM D 1876-01 or substrate tear, in less than or equal to five days after the substrate is laminated with the adhesive. The adhesives are free of aromatic amines and may find use in multi-layered laminated films for the production of flexible packaging useful in a variety of industries, including the food processing, cosmetics, and detergents industries.
Two-component polyurethane or polyisocyanurate spray foam composition containing a hydrohaloolefin blowing agent
Storage-stable two-component polyurethane or polyisocyanurate spray foam compositions are disclosed, said compositions comprising: (a) an A-side component comprising one or more polyisocyanate and one or more catalyst; and (b) a B-side component comprising one or more polyol; and further comprising one or more hydrohaloolefin blowing agent in either the A-side component or the B-side component, or in both; wherein both the A-side component and the B-side component, separately, generate less than 600 ppm of fluoride ion after two weeks of aging at 50° C.
