Multi-aziridine compound

The present invention relates to a multi-aziridine compound having: a) from 2 to 6 of the following structural units (A): whereby R.sub.1 is H, R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are independently chosen from H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1-4 carbon atoms, R.sub.3 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1-4 carbon atoms, RH or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R and R are independently chosen from an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 4 to 12 carbon atoms or an aromatic hydrocarbon group containing from 6 to 12 carbon atoms, b) one or more linking chains wherein each one of these linking chains links two of the structural units A; and c) a molecular weight in the range from 600 Daltons to 5000 Daltons. ##STR00001##

Rigid polyurethane resin for cutting work

The present invention aims to provide a rigid polyurethane resin for cutting, which has high heat resistance, no scorching, and reduced expansion due to absorption of moisture in the air. The rigid polyurethane resin-forming composition (P) for cutting of the present invention includes: a polyol component (A); an isocyanate component (B); an inorganic filler (C); and a dehydrating agent (D). The polyol component (A) includes: 45 to 99% by weight of a polyphenol (j) alkylene oxide adduct (a), the polyphenol (j) having k functional groups where k is an integer of 2 or 3; and 1 to 55% by weight of a polyol (b). The polyphenol (j) alkylene oxide adduct (a) includes a total of not more than 39% by weight of a polyphenol (j) alkylene oxide adduct (ak) with at most k moles of alkylene oxide, based on 100% by weight of the polyphenol (j) alkylene oxide adduct (a), and has a hydroxyl value of 100 to 295 mg KOH/g. The polyol (b) is a multi-functional aliphatic or alicyclic polyol having 3 to 8 functional groups and has a hydroxyl value of 160 to 700 mg KOH/g. The weight of the oxyethylene groups included in the polyol component (A) is not more than 10% by weight in 100% by weight of the polyol component (A).

Multi-aziridine compound

The present invention relates to a multi-aziridine compound having: a) at least 2 of the following structural units (A): (A) whereby R.sub.1 is H; R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are independently chosen from H, a linear group containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally containing one or more heteroatoms, a branched or cyclic group containing from 3 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally containing one or more heteroatoms, phenyl, benzyl, or pyridinyl; R.sub.3 is chosen from a linear group containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally containing one or more heteroatoms, a branched or cyclic group containing from 3 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally containing one or more heteroatoms, phenyl, benzyl, or pyridinyl; or R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 (in case R.sub.2 is different than H) may be part of the same cyclic group containing from 3 to 8 carbon atoms; R and R are independently H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms; and b) a molecular weight from 600 to 20000 Daltons, wherein the molecular weight is determined using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry according to the description. ##STR00001##

Provided are adhesives containing a phenoxy resin grafted with methyl methacrylate (MMA) and/or methacrylic acid (MAA), and including a uretdione or a silane. The adhesive compositions are completely or substantially absent free isocyanate. The grafted phenoxy resin forms crosslinking which allows the adhesive to chemisorb to a metal surface, diffuse and entangle in a urethane elastomer and/or provide crossbridging and/or crosslinking across an interface of the adhesive and a cast urethane. Methods of adhering a castable urethane to a substrate, using the provided adhesives, are also provided.

Two-component coating system

The present invention relates to a two-component coating system comprising a first component and a second component each of which is separate and distinct from each other, wherein the first component comprises a carboxylic acid functional polymer dissolved and/or dispersed in an aqueous medium, and the second component comprises a multi-aziridine compound having: a) from 2 to 6 of the following structural units (A): b) whereby m is an integer from 1 to 8; and R and R are both H b) one or more linking chains wherein each one of these linking chains links two of the structural units A; c) one or more connecting groups whereby each one of the connecting groups connects two of the structural units A; and d) a molecular weight in the range from 840 Daltons to 5000 Daltons, wherein the molecular weight is measured using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.

Multi-aziridine compound

The present invention relates to a multi-aziridine compound having: a) from 2 to 6 of the following structural units (A): whereby R, R are as defined herein m is an integer from 1 to 6; b) one or more linking chains wherein each one of these linking chains links two of the structural units A; and c) a molecular weight in the range from 840 Daltons to 5000 Daltons. The multi-aziridine compound can be used for example for crosslinking of for example carboxylic acid functional polymers dissolved and/or dispersed in an aqueous medium. ##STR00001##

Waterborne crosslinker composition

The present invention relates to a multi-aziridine crosslinker composition, including an aqueous dispersion having a pH ranging from 9 to 14 and including a multi-aziridine compound in dispersed form. The multi-aziridine compound has: a. from 2 to 6 of the following structural units A: (A) whereby R1, R2, R3 and R4 are H; m is 1, R and R are according to (1) or (2): (2) R=H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 14 carbon atoms, and R=an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, CH2-O(CO)R or CH2-OR, whereby R is an alkyl group containing from 4 to 12 carbon atoms and R is an alkyl group containing from 1 to 14 carbon atoms, (2) R and R form together a saturated cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 5 to 8 carbon atoms. ##STR00001##

The present invention relates to a multi-aziridine crosslinker composition, characterized in that the multi-aziridine crosslinker composition is an aqueous dispersion having a pH ranging from 8 to 14 and comprises a multi-aziridine compound in dispersed form, wherein said multi-aziridine compound has: a. from 2 to 6 of the following structural units A: whereby R.sub.1 is H, R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are independently chosen from H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R a is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, m is 1, b. one or more linking chains wherein each one of these linking chains links two of the structural units A; and c. a molecular weight in the range from 500 to 10000 Daltons wherein the molecular weight is determined using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry according to the description. ##STR00001##
