BUGPHOBIC AND ICEPHOBIC COMPOSITIONS WITH LIQUID ADDITIVES
Some variations provide a composition comprising: a first solid material and a second solid material that are chemically distinct and microphase-separated; and at least one liquid selectively absorbed into either of the first solid material or the second solid material. The first and second solid materials are preferably present as phase-separated regions of a copolymer, such as in a segmented copolymer (e.g., a urethane-urea copolymer). The liquid may be a freezing-point depressant for water. For example, the liquid may be selected from methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, or glycerol. The liquid may be a lubricant. For example, the liquid may be selected from fluorinated oils, siloxanes, petroleum-derived oils, mineral oil, or plant-derived oils. The liquid may consist of or include water. The liquid may be an electrolyte. For example, the liquid may be selected from poly(ethylene glycol), ionic liquids, dimethyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate, or methyl ethyl dicarbonate.
Macromers comprising pendant polyoxazoline groups and end groups
The invention is directed to a macromer comprising unit derived from a siloxane diol, di-isocyanates and a diol comprising a pendant group comprising an oligomer or polymer derived from methyl oxazoline or ethyl oxazoline. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of said macromers, and to that the use of said macromers. The macromers according to the invention may be used in lenses, such as ophthalmic lenses. Films comprising the macromers according to the invention provide a surprisingly low modulus in combination with a high water content and oxidative stability.
POLYURETHANE TWO-COMPONENT OR MULTI-COMPONENT SYSTEMS HAVING A LATENT THICKENING TENDENCY
The invention relates to a two-component or multi-component system comprising: at least one polyol component 1 that has i) at least one polyol, ii) at least one inorganic thickener (a1), and iii) at least one wetting and dispersing agent (a2) which inhibits the thickening effect of said inorganic thickener (a1); as well as at least one polyisocyanate component 2 that comprises i) at least one polyisocyanate; where (A) either the polyisocyanate component 2 comprises at least one component (b1) that at least partially cancels the inhibition of the thickening effect of the inorganic thickener (a1); and/or (B) at least one isocyanate-free component 3 comprises at least one component (b1) that at least partially cancels the inhibition of the thickening effect of the inorganic thickener (a1); said wetting and dispersing agent (a2) being non-reactive to the at least one polyol, and the polyisocyanate component 2 being reactive to the polyol component 1. The invention also relates to a substrate coated with a system according to the invention, and to the use of at least one inorganic thickener (a1) and at least one wetting and dispersing agent (a2) which inhibits the thickening effect of said inorganic thickener (a1), in order to provide a latent thickening effect for a composition that contains at least one polyol.
COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR REDUCING RESIDUAL ALDEHYDE CONTENT AND FOUL ODORS OF POLYOLS
A composition comprises a polyol and a polyethylenimine compound. A method for reducing the volatile aldehyde content of a polyol comprises the steps of: (a) providing a polyol, the polyol containing a first amount of volatile aldehyde compounds; (b) providing a polyethylenimine compound; and (c) adding the polyethylenimine compound to the polyol to produce a composition.
A 2K CLEARCOAT COATING COMPOSITION
Disclosed herein is a 2K clearcoat coating composition including (A) from 10% to 70% by weight of a first resin having at least one primary hydroxyl group; (B) from 2% to 40% by weight of a second resin including a resin (B-1) having at least one primary hydroxyl group and/or a resin (B-2) having at least one secondary hydroxyl group; and (C) a crosslinker including at least one polyisocyanate and at least one amino resin, and the weight percentages of components (A) and (B) are based on the total weight of the coating composition and the ratio by weight between components (A) and (B) is in a range of from 6:1 to 1:2. Further disclosed herein is an article coated by the coating composition and the article may have metal substrates.

Also disclosed is a self-healing coating composition comprising (a) a film-forming binder; and (b) metallic microcapsules, the metallic microcapsules being the same or different and containing a polymeric microcapsule containing one or more polymeric precursors encapsulated therein; and a metallic shell enclosing a volume containing the polymeric microcapsule.
