AUTOCATALYTIC POLYOL USEFUL FOR POLYURETHANE FOAM MANUFACTURE

The present invention discloses a tertiary amine initiator and polymeric polyol compositions made therefrom useful for making polyurethane polymers, especially polyurethane foams. Said polyurethane polymer foams demonstrate a good balance of mechanical properties, physical properties, and low emissions. The tertiary amine initiator is one or more partially alkylated amine compound have the Structure II: RR.sup.1N(RNH).sub.y(RNR.sup.4).sub.x-yRNR.sup.2R.sup.3 wherein R is a C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 linear or branched alkyl group, R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 are independently a hydrogen or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 linear or branched alkyl group with the proviso that at least one of R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 is not hydrogen, R.sup.4 is a hydrogen or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 linear or branched alkyl group, x is from 1 to 33, y is from 0 to 32, and z is from 0 to 15, with the proviso that x-y is equal to or greater than 1 and the number of NH bonds in (II) is greater than 0 and less than 8.

Polyol compositions, a process for the production of these polyol compositions, and their use in the production of open celled polyurethane foams having high airflow

This invention relates to a novel polyol composition and a process for preparing these polyol compositions. These novel polyol compositions comprise (a) an in-situ formed polyol blend which comprises (i) one or more polyether monols and (ii) one or more polyether polyols; and (b) a polyether polyol. This invention also relates to a process for preparing an open celled, flexible polyurethane foam in which the isocyanate-reactive component comprises this novel polyol composition, and to a viscoelastic polyurethane foam wherein the isocyanate-reactive comprise the novel polyol composition.

Routes to polyacrylates

A polyacrylate is obtained by radical polymerization of at least one acrylate monomer (Ac) in the presence of a polymeric photoinitiator. The polymeric photoinitiator is a co-polymer of at least one photoinitiator monomer (A) with at least one monomer (B), and optional additional monomers (C). Rapid polymerization of the acrylate monomer is provided. A method produces a polyacrylate using the polymeric photoinitiator as described, and a polymeric photoinitiator is used as the photoinitiator of radical polymerization of acrylate monomers.
