COMPLIANT BIOLOGICAL SCAFFOLD
20200405489 · 2020-12-31 ·

A compliant biological scaffold incorporates a plurality of elongated apertures that form a geometric pattern enabling biaxial expansion or contraction. An elongated aperture has a pair of nodes located on opposing sides of the aperture and between a pair of antinodes located on the extended and opposing ends of the elongated aperture. A geometric pattern may have various geometric shapes, or tiles, between the plurality of apertures. The geometric tiles have a bounded perimeter formed by the plurality of elongated apertures. A substantial portion of the elongated apertures may be configured with the antinodes proximal to one of said pair of nodes of a separate elongated aperture; wherein the antinodes are closer to one of the pair of nodes than to any other antinode. This unique arrangement of the elongated apertures may be formed in biological material in vivo or ex vivo.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR ANATOMIC MAPPING FOR PROSTHETIC IMPLANTS

A method of generating a patient-specific prosthetic includes receiving anatomic imaging data representative of a portion of a patient's anatomy. A first digital representation of the anatomic imaging data is defined. The first digital representation of the anatomic imaging data is modified. A second digital representation of the portion of the patient's anatomy is defined based on the modifying of the first digital representation of the anatomic imaging data. A patient-specific prosthetic template of the portion of the patient's anatomy is generated based at least in part on the second digital representation of the anatomic imaging data.

ELECTROSPINNING WITH SACRIFICIAL TEMPLATE FOR PATTERNING FIBROUS CONSTRUCTS

Methods are disclosed which combine electrospinning and a sacrificial template, such as with additive manufacturing (AM), to produce fibrous microvascular scaffolds which are biodegradable, porous, and easily handled. In one example, a process for fabricating a fibrous network construct is disclosed. The method includes electrospinning a first layer of fibrous material; printing a micropatterned sacrificial template; transferring the micropatterned sacrificial template onto the electrospun fibers; electrospinning a second layer of fibrous biomaterial onto the micropatterned sacrificial template thereby encapsulating the template and generating a construct with two layers; and removing the sacrificial template, producing a fibrous construct with channels or microstructures formed therein. Also disclosed are fibrous constructs and scaffolds produced by the provided methods.

IMPLANT AND FILAMENT MANAGEMENT DEVICE
20200323623 · 2020-10-15 ·

A variety of configurations of implant management devices are provided. The configurations provide different combinations of features for maintaining a location of an implant with respect to the device and managing filaments of the implant. One exemplary embodiment of a device includes a generally rectangular-shaped body having an implantable body retainer, an opening disposed a distance apart from the retainer and configured to receive a ligament graft therein, and a fold extending across the body and intersecting the opening. Folding one end of the body towards a bottom surface of the body along the fold can form a filament loop engaging region to hold in tension a filament loop extending from the implant. Additional filament(s) associated with the implant can be managed by various filament retention features. Methods for preparing a ligament graft for implantation by relying upon indicia formed on a surface of the device body are also provided.

LENS PRECURSOR WITH FEATURES FOR THE FABRICATION OF AN OPHTHALMIC LENS

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CREATING A MODIFIED TISSUE GRAFT
20200222167 · 2020-07-16 ·

In a method of creating a modified tissue graft, at least one exterior surface of a graft is modified by compressing, cutting and/or removing one or more portions thereof, such as to create designed surface features which cause the tissue graft to have characteristics for a specific anatomical area. The modified tissue graft may comprise a medicated graft, such as by associating medicants with the surface features, or by associating a second graft or layer with a modified base tissue graft layer, where medicants are associated with the second graft or layer. The tissue graft may be modified by pressing a specially configured template or die, such as having blades thereon, into the tissue graft, such as to create a pattern of partial depth cuts.
