Blowing agent composition of hydrochlorofluoroolefin
A blowing agent for thermosetting foams is disclosed. The blowing agent is predominately the trans isomer of the hydrochlorofluoroolefin (HCFO) HFCO-1233zd alone or in combination with a hydrofluoroolefin (HFO), hydrofluorocarbon (HFC), hydrochlorofluoroolefin (HCFO), a hydrocarbon. The blowing agent is effective as a blowing agent in the manufacture of thermosetting foams.
COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING 1,2-DICHLORO-1,2-DIFLUOROETHYLENE FOR USE IN FOAM BLOWING APPLICATIONS
This invention relates to compositions comprising 1,2-dichloro-1,2-difluoroethylene (i.e., CFO-1112) and an additional component. The compositions described herein may be useful, for example, in foam blowing applications.
NON ISOCYANATE POLYURETHANE FOAMS
A curable isocyanate free formulation for preparing a polyurethane foam. The formulation includes a compound A chosen from multifunctional cyclic carbonates of a formula (I) or a mixture thereof, a compound B chosen from multifunctional cyclic carbonates containing oxyalkylene groups —OR3- of a formula (II) or a mixture thereof, a compound C chosen from multifunctional amines of a formula (III) or a mixture thereof and a compound D chosen from non-reactive blowing agents, as well as a process for preparing a non-isocyanate polyurethane foam, a foam obtainable by this process, compound B, a mixture of compounds A and B, the use of compound B for enhancing the solubility of a non-reactive blowing agent in a compound A and a foamable system having a first part A containing compound A and compound B and a second part B containing compound C, wherein part A and part B are preferably physically separated.
Flame-retardant rigid polyurethane foam
A flame-retardant rigid polyurethane foam contains a flame retardant, the foam having a ratio of the maximum peak intensity ratio (P1) of the foam after moist heat treatment of the foam for one week at a temperature of 80° C. and a humidity of 85% to the maximum peak intensity ratio (P2) of the foam before this moist heat treatment of 85% or more (P1/P2x100). The P1 and P2 each refer to the ratio of the maximum peak intensity of 1390 to 1430 cm.sup.−1 to the maximum peak intensity of 1500 to 1520 cm.sup.−1 when the infrared absorption spectrum is measured at a position 5 to 10 mm from the surface of the foam, and the average intensity of 1900 to 2000 cm.sup.−1 is adjusted to zero.
Spray foams containing non-halogenated fire retardants
A spray foam formulation used to form a spray foam insulation layer in a wall structure is described. The formulation may include the reaction product of a polyisocyanate compound and a polyol compound; a fire retardant chosen from at least one of a non-halogenated fire retardant; and a reactive halogen-containing fire retardant, and a carbohydrate. The spray foam insulation layer has an insulative R value of 3.0 to 7.2 per inch, and a density of between about 0.3 to about 4.5 pcf. Further, spray foam insulation made from the spray foam formulation may have fire retardant characteristics that are equivalent to or better than a similar spray insulation foam insulation using non-reactive halogenated fire retardants such as tris(1-chloro-2-propyl)phosphate (TCPP).
BLOWING AGENT COMPOSITIONS OF CARBON DIOXIDE AND HYDROCHLOROFLUOROOLEFINS
The present invention relates to blowing agent compositions of carbon dioxide and at least one hydrochlorofluoroolefin (HCFO). The HCFOs can include, but are not limited to, 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HCFO-1233zd), 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HCFO-1233xf) and mixtures thereof. The blowing agent compositions are useful in the production of low density insulating foams with improved k-factor made from thermoplastic resins The blowing agent compositions may also optionally include one or more hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs).
Low density attached polyurethane foams made using a combination of frothing and blowing methods
Textiles backed with a polyurethane cushion are produced by applying a layer of frothed polyurethane-forming mixture to a surface of the textile. The mixture contains both water and a physical blowing agent. The layer expands due to the action of the water and the physical blowing agent and cures to form an attached cushion having a density of 176 g/L or less.
