Device for protecting the human sensory hearing system while retaining quality sound
The present disclosure describes a cost-effective earplug device that delivers minimally distorted sound, offers sound protection, can fit most users, and can protect human hearing from dangerously-high acoustic levels without the cost or inconvenience of a custom earplug.
INTRAOCULAR LENS INCLUDING SILICONE OIL
An intraocular lens (IOL) having an optical axis extending in an anterior-posterior direction and an equator extending in a plane substantially perpendicular to the optical axis is described. The IOL includes: an elastic anterior face located anterior to the equator; a posterior face located posterior to the equator, wherein the anterior face, the posterior face, or both comprises a poly(dimethylsiloxane) elastomer having a durometer between about 20 Shore A to about 50 Shore A; and a chamber located between the anterior face and the posterior face comprising a silicone oil comprising polysiloxanes comprising diphenyl siloxane and dimethyl siloxane units, the silicone oil having a maximum viscosity of about 800 cSt at 25° C.
Dual inflatable arterial prosthesis
A system includes an inner filling structure around a stent-structure and an outer filling structure around the inner filling structure. The inner filling structure can be configured to produce a proximal seal with a first portion of an artery at a proximal end and a distal seal with a second portion of an artery at a distal end when the inner filling structure is in an inflacted state. The outer filling structure can have an inner surface surrounding at least a portion of the inner filling structure. The outer filling structure can be configured to be inflatable to occupy a space within an aneurysm at a lower pressure than a pressure in the inner filling structure.
IMPLANTS THAT FACILITATE TISSUE EXPANSION
The invention pertains to implants that facilitate tissue expansion while not substantially inhibiting normal anatomical movement. The implants may be made of different materials or made in different configurations such that such that a measured property at a first location on said implant is different than said same measured property at a second location on said implant. In one particular embodiment the implants may be a cosmetic penile implant.
Thromboembolic protective flow-diverting, common carotid to external carotid intravascular stent
Medical procedures and devices suitable for reducing the risk of embolic cerebrovascular events, including but not limited to cardioembolic stroke, that result from emboli entering the right or left common carotid artery. The invention uses a combination of intracranial flow diverting stent technologies and carotid stent technologies to achieve clinical objectives of embolic stroke prevention without thromboembolic and/or vascular stenosis complication. Such a stent has struts that generate high radial forces for endothelial apposition, and a mesh with interstices sufficiently small to prevent clinically significant-sized embolic material from passing therethrough from the common carotid artery into the internal carotid artery, but sufficiently large to enable blood and small clinically insignificant-sized embolic material to pass therethrough from the common carotid artery into the internal carotid artery.
Methods and systems for delivering a filled prosthetic bladder into a surgical cavity
A prosthetic insertion apparatus and related methods of use in delivering filled prosthetic bladders through a skin incision and into a surgical cavity or pocket. The prosthetic insertion apparatus imparts control and retention properties to a surgical professional such the prosthetic bladder can be oriented and manipulated into the surgical cavity without risk of inadvertent dropping of the prosthetic bladder and without imparting damaging stress or torque to the bladder. Suitable materials can be utilized that are selected as having advantageous properties including lubricity, rigidity, easily sterilizable, and high strength.
VOICE PROSTHESIS WITH CONNECTING FEATURE
A voice prosthesis comprising a outer cannula and an inner cannula wherein the outer cannula is generally in the shape of a spool and comprises two flanges connected by a hollow annular stem therebetween, and the inner cannula comprises a proximal flange and a stem configured to fit within a passageway of the stem of the outer cannula. The outer cannula comprises a retaining slot on its outer proximal edge which can be used to rotationally secure an obround inner cannula proximal flange. The inner cannula may also comprise windows for use with retaining nubs disposed on the interior of the outer cannula passageway and an insertion tool having a moveable protrusions.
Lip implant and associated surgical method
The embodied invention is a lip implant that includes small eyelets on either end of a small diameter rod located inside, and extends beyond, the cosmetic volume of the implant. Sutures connected to eyelets on the rod ends, allow the implant to be pulled into a minimal lip cavity that is created for the implant. The implant is readily positioned by using the sutures. Only two small incisions are needed as well as the creation of a small cavity needed for the implant. The use of the embodied invention is also extended to vein implants to enhance the appearance of veins on arms, legs, or to other surfaces.
MEDICAL IMPLANT FOR TREATING ANEURYSMS
The disclosure relates to a medical implant for treating aneurysms, including a support structure, which has a compressible and expansible lattice structure lattice elements that define lattice openings, wherein the lattice structure is covered at least in part with an in particular electrospun membrane of fibres, which membrane includes at least one luminal functional layer and at least one abluminal protective layer, which each have pores, wherein the porosity of the functional layer is less than the porosity of the protective layer. The membrane is so configured that at least the pores of the functional layer open, as a result of a pressure gradient arising between a liquid pressure in an inner through channel of the support structure and a liquid pressure outside the protective layer, so as to increase the throughflow of liquid through the membrane.
SOUND-ATTENUATION SYSTEM
A sound attenuation system can include a first end that can include a shaft and a flange, the flange can be coupled to the shaft, and a second end that can include a filter stem and a cap. The filter stem can have a hole. The cap can have a first position in which the cap occludes the hole and can have a second position in which the cap is clear of the hole.
