Production of fatty alcohols from engineered microorganisms
The invention generally relates to the production of a fatty alcohol composition from recombinant microbial cells. The fatty alcohols are produced by expressing a gene encoding a heterologous fatty alcohol forming acyl-CoA reductase (FAR); a gene encoding a heterologous thioesterase (TE) gene and a gene encoding an acyl-CoA synthetase (ACS).
Alkaline cleaning compositions for non-horizontal surfaces
The present invention relates to cleaning compositions suitable for cleaning and disinfecting non-horizontal surfaces. The invention comprises an ether carboxylate or ether sulphate in combination with an amphoteric surfactant and with a non-ionic surfactant at a certain ratio which can be applied preferably in the form of foam at room temperature, preferably for the use in industrial and institutional cleaning products. A cleaning composition comprises: (a) One or more compounds of formula (I)
R.sup.1O(CH.sub.2CH(R.sup.2)O).sub.n(CH.sub.2CH.sub.2O).sub.mX.sup.(A).sub.1/z.sup.z+(I) wherein X.sup. is a CH.sub.2COO.sup. group or a SO.sub.3.sup. group, preferably a CH.sub.2COO.sup. group, R1 is linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl or alkenyl chain having from 4 to 30 carbon atoms, R2 is a C1-C3 linear or branched alkyl chain, A is a suitable countercation, n and m are 0 or an integer number between 1 to 30, wherein the sum of m+n is at from 0 to 30, preferably from 1 to 15, and z is 1, 2, or 3; (b) one or more amphoteric surfactants (c) a non-ionic surfactant (d) water up to 100 wt % with respect to the total weight of the composition wherein the molar ratio between the sum of the components (a) and (b) and component (c), that is ((a)+(b))/(c), is from 3 to 16.5, preferably from 3.7 to 15.9.
Stable aqueous surfactant compositions
The present disclosure relates to stable aqueous compositions of alkyl sulfates, which are suitable for numerous commercial applications due to their favorable cleaning and foaming properties. More particularly, the disclosure relates to stable aqueous compositions of alkyl sulfates in combination with select hydrophobic agents, such as essential oils.
Opaque compositions and methods for the same
Opaque cleaning compositions substantially free of opacifying agents and pearlizers, and methods for the same are disclosed. The cleaning composition may include a synergistic combination of a surfactant system and one or more salts. The surfactant system may include a nonionic surfactant and two anionic surfactants, and the one or more salts may include a multivalent ion. In some examples, the cleaning composition is free of thickeners.
FRAGRANCE COMPOSITION
A cyclopentene ring compound having a characteristic aroma is disclosed. A cyclopentene ring compound represented by the following formula (1), is aromatically entirely unknown, and the cyclopentene ring compound has a leathery/woody aroma. Thus, uses of the cyclopentene ring compound are disclosed. Consumer products containing the cyclopentene ring compound are also disclosed.
