Preparation of HMF catalyzed by a mixture of salt and acid
The present invention relates to a method for the production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), which converts a fructose-containing component using a catalyst system comprising a solution of a salt and acid mixture at a temperature of 90 to 200° C. and leads to obtaining an HMF-containing product mixture, wherein advantageously a high HMF selectivity with significantly lower by-product formation is achieved at the same time.

METHOD FOR UPGRADING PYROLYSIS OIL THROUGH SEAWATER ELECTROCHEMICAL PRETREATMENT OF BIOMASS AND USE THEREOF
Provided is a method for upgrading pyrolysis oil through seawater electrochemical pretreatment of biomass and use thereof. The method includes: (1) crushing and sieving a biomass raw material to obtain a crushed biomass raw material, adding the crushed biomass raw material to a salt solution and mixing to be uniform to obtain a reactant mixture; performing an electrolytic reaction on the reactant mixture under conditions of stirring and an external voltage of 5-15 V for 2-8 hours to obtain a product mixture; after the electrolytic reaction, subjecting the product mixture to a suction filtration, collecting a filter cake, washing the filter cake and drying to obtain a pretreated biomass, and (2) subjecting the pretreated biomass obtained in step (1) to a pyrolysis reaction at a temperature of 400-600° C. for 30-90 minutes in a protective gas atmosphere, and collecting a pyrolysis oil by an organic solvent.
Method and system for hybrid catalytic biorefining of biomass to methylated furans and depolymerized technical lignin
A method is disclosed for converting biomass into a fuel additive, the method comprising: liquefying the biomass to form a liquor; neutralizing the liquor; precipitating lignin out of the liquor; extracting furfural (FF) and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) from the liquor; and hydrodeoxygenating (HDO) the extracted furfurals over a Cu—Ni/TiO.sub.2 catalyst. The catalyst for hydrodeoxygenating (HDO) furfural (FF) and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to methylated furans comprises copper-nickel (Cu—Ni) particles supported on titanium dioxide (TiO.sub.2), and wherein the copper-nickel particles form core-shell structures in which copper (Cu) is enriched at a surface of the catalyst.
