A surgical device for assisting in the placement of a prosthetic implant. One or more sheets of polymer are in the form of a conical frustum such that a proximal end is sealed and a distal end is open, with an elongated slit extending from the distal end toward the proximal end. A single opening is formed by the distal opening and the elongated slit with a set of inter-lockable fastener elements disposed along opposing sides and configured to seal the elongated slit such that the distal end remains open to allow for egress of the prosthetic implant for placement into a surgical pocket. A lubricious coating is applied to the interior cavity of the frustum in addition to one or more surface active coatings. Movement of the prosthetic implant across the one or more surface active coatings causes the coatings to provide one or more offered benefits.

Medical occluder device

An occluder device is provided for occluding a cardiovascular defect or a gap between a medical device and adjacent body tissue, the device including a compliant balloon defining a fluid-tight balloon chamber and a balloon channel forming a longitudinal passage from a proximal to a distal side of the balloon, the balloon including a fluid port for filling a fluid into the balloon chamber. A tip and a base are coupled to the distal and the proximal sides of the balloon, respectively. At least one connecting strut is attached to the tip and to the base. An elongate actuator is disposed longitudinally slidable in the balloon channel and connected to the tip, and longitudinally slidable with respect to the base so as to set a distance between the tip and the base. A lock is configured to maintain the distance between the tip and the base. Other embodiments are also described.

Prosthetic heart valves

Some embodiments described herein include a heart valve replacement system that may be delivered to a targeted native heart valve site via one or more delivery catheters. In some embodiments, a prosthetic heart valve of the system includes structural features that securely anchor the prosthetic heart valve to the site of the native heart valve. Such structural features can provide robust migration resistance. In particular implementations, the prosthetic heart valves occupy a smaller delivery profile, thereby facilitating a smaller delivery catheter for advancement to the heart.

Collapsible and re-expandable prosthetic heart valve cuff designs and complementary technological applications

A prosthetic heart valve is provided with a cuff having features which promote sealing with the native tissues even where the native tissues are irregular. The cuff may include a portion adapted to bear on the LVOT when the valve is implanted in a native aortic valve. The valve may include elements for biasing the cuff outwardly with respect to the stent body when the stent body is in an expanded condition. The cuff may have portions of different thickness distributed around the circumference of the valve in a pattern matching the shape of the opening defined by the native tissue. All or part of the cuff may be movable relative to the stent during implantation.

The valve implant is made of an expandable frame and a valve, and is radially expandable to a diameter that is at least the same as an expanded diameter of the anchoring device. A heart valve repair system includes a delivery sheath and an implant that includes a frame having a surface configured to contact an upstream surface of a native heart valve. First and second gripping members are coupled to the frame and each (1) includes first and second arms and (2) is configured to clamp a respective native leaflet. The implant is disposed in the sheath in a delivery state in which the frame defines a wall fully surrounding a central longitudinal axis of the implant. The distal end of the wall defines a distal opening of the frame. The distal end of the wall is disposed proximally to the entire first tissue-engaging surface of each of the gripping members and proximally to the entire second tissue-engaging surface of each of the gripping members. A MULTI-LUMEN IMPLANTABLE DEVICE

A multi-lumen implantable device configured to deliver a therapeutic agent to a selected portion of a blood vessel is disclosed. As one example, an implantable device includes a first lumen configured to flow blood from an upstream end to a downstream end of the device when implanted in a blood vessel; a second lumen fluidly separated from the first lumen and configured for introducing a therapeutic agent to a selected, first portion of a wall of the blood vessel, between the upstream end and the downstream end of the device; and at least one sealing member configured to block the therapeutic agent from entering a second portion of the wall of the blood vessel, between the upstream end and the downstream end of the device.

An example heart valve may comprise an expandable framework configured to shift from a closed configuration to an expanded configuration, the expandable framework having an inflow end, an outflow end and a lumen extending therein. The heart valve may also include a plurality of valve leaflets coupled to the expandable framework, each of the plurality of valve leaflets including a root edge and a free edge. Further, the heart valve may also include an outer skirt coupled to the plurality of valve leaflets, the outer skirt including a proximal edge, wherein the root edge of each of the plurality of valve leaflets is attached to the proximal edge of the outer skirt.
