The present invention provides methods for producing golf balls having polyurethane covers and the resultant balls. Multi-piece golf balls having an inner core and outer cover with one or more intermediate layers disposed between the core and cover can be formed. The methods involve producing hydroxyl-terminated adducts and isocyanate-terminated prepolymers. Thermoset and thermoplastic polyurethane compositions can be prepared. The resulting polyurethane compositions and golf ball covers have high thermal stability and good wear-resistance and durability.

The present application relates to a solvent-free matt polyurea coating which is obtained by carrying out a reaction through reacting at least following components: a) a polyisocyanate prepolymer; b) a polyether amine; c) a main chain extender, wherein the coating further comprises ground carbon fibers as a matting agent. The carbon fibers have an average fiber length greater than or equal to 50 μm and less than or equal to 150 μm, a weight fraction greater than or equal to 4.5% and less than or equal to 25%. The present application also relates to a kit of parts for producing a solvent-free matt polyurea coating.

Suggested is a urea urethane with improved rheological properties, obtainable or obtained according to a process encompassing or consisting of the following steps: (a) providing a monohydroxyl compound; (b) providing a diisocyanate compound; (c) reacting said monohydroxyl compound and said diisocyanate compound to form a pre-polymer; (d) reacting said pre-polymer with a diamine compound in the presence of a lithium salt, wherein said monohydroxyl compound and said diisocyanate compound are reacted in a molar ratio of 1:1.1 to 1:1.45.

Urea urethanes

Suggested is a urea urethane with improved rheological properties, obtainable or obtained according to a process encompassing or consisting of the following steps: (a) providing a monohydroxyl compound; (b) providing a diisocyanate compound; (c) reacting said monohydroxyl compound and said diisocyanate compound to form a pre-polymer; (d) reacting said pre-polymer with a diamine compound in the presence of a lithium salt, wherein said monohydroxyl compound and said diisocyanate compound are reacted in a molar ratio of 1:1.1 to 1:1.45.

Suggested is a method for modifying the rheology of a casting resin and/or coating composition, comprising the following steps: providing a composition comprising at least one monomer capable of forming a casting resin or coating upon polymerisation; and adding to said composition a working amount of a urea urethane obtained under specific conditions as a thixotropic agent.

Faster cure polyaspartic resins for faster physical property development in coatings

A polyaspartate composition is provided which comprises a reaction product of a diamine and a diester reacted at a ratio of diamine equivalents to diester equivalents of from 1:0.95 to 1:0.50. The polyaspartate compositions of the invention may be combined with polyisocyanates to produce polyurea compositions, e.g., coatings, adhesives, sealants, composites, castings, and films, which exhibit a faster cure time along with faster development time for physical properties such as hardness and tensile strength.
