Expandable surgical heart valve indicators
A prosthetic heart valve configured to replace a native heart valve and for post-implant expansion and having a valve-type indicator thereon visible from outside the body post-implant. The indicator communicates information about the valve, such as the size or orifice diameter of the valve, and/or that the valve has the capacity for post-implant expansion. The indicator can be an alphanumeric symbol or other symbol or combination of symbols that represent information about the characteristics of the valve such as the valve size. The capacity for post-implant expansion facilitates a valve-in-valve procedure, where the valve-type indicator conveys information to the surgeon about whether the implanted valve is suitable for the procedure and informs the choice of the secondary valve.

The present invention relates to a prosthesis (10) intended to be implanted at an implantation site, comprising i) at least one fabric called the base fabric (2) having at least one apertured surface (3), ii) and at least one patch (4) provided with at least one barb (5) projecting from one of its surfaces and grippingly fastening said patch to said apertured surface of said base fabric at a specific place on said surface, said patch comprising at least one radiopaque element. The invention also relates to a kit comprising a fabric and a patch.
ACETABULAR CUP HAVING A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION DEVICE
A orthopaedic implant comprises an acetabular cup and a wireless communication device. The wireless communication device is coupled to a rim surface of the acetabular cup. In one embodiment, a recess is defined in the rim surface and the wireless communication device is positioned therein. In another embodiment, the wireless communication device is positioned in an annular ring formed of a biocompatible material. The annular ring is coupled to the rim surface of the acetabular cup. The wireless communication device may be, for example, a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag or device.

Breast implants including sensor modules and related methods are described herein. Breast implants include those with: a shell configured to be substantially filled with a viscous material; and a plurality of sensor modules attached to the shell and positioned at a distance from each other, each of the plurality of sensor modules oriented to detect one or more analytes in a fluid adjacent to the shell, wherein each of the plurality of sensor modules includes a unique identifier and is configured to utilize energy transmitted from an external source.

An orthopedic implant manufacturing method. The method includes preparing a pre-operative surgical plan for a specific patient, the surgical plan including a three-dimensional image of a patient's joint indicating at least one resection plane, communicating the surgical plan to a surgeon of the patient, and receiving approval of the surgical plan and the resection plane by the surgeon. The method also includes providing automated osteophyte/protrusion removal control for surgeon manipulation, receiving a modified three-dimensional image of a patient's joint indicating an osteophyte/protrusion removal and a recommendation for a corresponding selected orthopedic implant from the surgeon, and requesting manufacture of the selected orthopedic implant.

Non-invasive vision enhancement
A method and system are provided for enhancing vision. The method includes capturing a first image by a first camera. The method further includes capturing a second image by a second camera. The method also includes combining the first image and the second image to form a combined image. The method additionally includes projecting the combined image on at least one eye of a user by a wearable image projection device. The combined image represents a wide screen image having a field of view greater than any of the first image and the second image taken individually.
BREAST IMPLANTS
There is provided herein a breast implant comprising: an internal skeleton element comprising a base configured to face a subject's chest wall when implanted, a dome configured to face a subject's nipple-areola complex when implanted, and a projecting structure extending between the base and the dome; and a shell enclosing the internal skeleton element and filled with a filler substance. The breast implant is configured to be inserted into a sub-glandular plane, a sub-muscular plane or a subcutaneous plane of a subject's breast, to affect the projection and volume of the breast.
