Shape memory polymers
New shape memory polymer compositions, methods for synthesizing new shape memory polymers, and apparatus comprising an actuator and a shape memory polymer wherein the shape memory polymer comprises at least a portion of the actuator. A shape memory polymer comprising a polymer composition which physically forms a network structure wherein the polymer composition has shape-memory behavior and can be formed into a permanent primary shape, re-formed into a stable secondary shape, and controllably actuated to recover the permanent primary shape. Polymers have optimal aliphatic network structures due to minimization of dangling chains by using monomers that are symmetrical and that have matching amine and hydroxyl groups providing polymers and polymer foams with clarity, tight (narrow temperature range) single transitions, and high shape recovery and recovery force that are especially useful for implanting in the human body.
TWO-COMPONENT SOLVENTLESS ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING AN AMINE-INITIATED POLYOL
Two-component solventless polyurethane adhesive compositions comprising an isocyanate component and a polyol component comprising at least one highly-reactive amine-initiated polyol are disclosed. The at least one amine-initiated polyol comprises primary hydroxyl groups and a backbone incorporating one or more tertiary amines. The amine-initiated polyol further comprises a functionality of from 2 to 12, a hydroxyl number of from 5 to 1,830, and a viscosity at 40 C. of from 500 to 20,000 mPa-s. The polyol component can further comprise a non-amine-initiated polyol. The adhesive compositions are formulated such that the isocyanate and polyol components can be applied to separate substrates prior to mixing. Still further, a laminate comprising the adhesive compositions is disclosed.
HIGH NITROGEN CONTENT POLYURETHANE FOAMS
The invention pertains generally to a shelf-stable polyurethane HFO-blown two-component polyurethane foam composition which includes incorporating nitrogen-containing aminopolyols.
POLYURETHANE RESIN-FORMING COMPOSITION, MODULE MEMBRANE SEAL MATERIAL USING A HOLLOW-SHAPED OR FLAT MEMBRANE-SHAPED FIBER SEPARATION MEMBRANE USING SAID FORMING COMPOSITION, AND ALLOPHANATE GROUP-CONTAINING POLYISOCYANATE COMPOSITION DERIVED FROM MDI AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREFOR
Provided is a composition for forming polyurethane resin having a balance between reactivity and reducing viscosity and successfully imparting low-temperature storage stability, for use in fixing a hollow or flat sheet fiber separation membrane; and an MDI prepolymer containing a large amount of allophanate group without a metal compound and a method for producing the same while successfully controlling a reaction.
Solution is provided by using a composition for forming polyurethane resin, containing a specific isocyanate group-containing compound; allophanatizing MDI with a tertiary amine catalyst without containing a metal catalyst; and reacting in the presence of at least one selected from the group consisting of a carboxylic acid amide, a sulfonic acid amide and an active methylene compound.
Hybrid novolac polyurea/polyurethane
A hybrid polyurethane/polyurea polymer suitable for forming a coating on a structure which is in contact with water includes the reaction product of a polyol component consisting of one or more polyols, a polyamine, and a curing agent, such as a polyisocyanate. The polyol component includes a Novolac-type polyether polyol.
Mechanical reticulation of polymeric-based closed cell foams
Polymeric based closed cell foams, such as shape memory polymer foams, contain bubbles. Making these bubbles continuous is called reticulation. Disclosed are embodiments of a device and method to controllably reticulate polymer-based closed cell foams by puncturing the membranes of these polymer-based closed cell foams.
