Process for the Production of Hot Melt Adhesives Having a Low Emission of Monomeric Isocyanates
The present invention refers to a process for the production of hot melt adhesives having a low emission of monomeric isocyanates upon heating wherein in a first step a polyurethane prepolymer is generated which is subsequently reacted with a chain extender. Further, the present invention refers to hot melt adhesives obtained by the inventive process.
Aromatic polyester polyether polyurethane panels and useful materials comprising same
This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure. The disclosure provides aromatic polyester polyether polyols and compositions comprising such polyols. The disclosed aromatic polyester polyether polyols and compositions including same are the products of the transesterification reaction of polyethylene terephthalate (“PET”) and an ethoxylated triol, namely glycerin or trimethylolpropane, wherein the degree of ethoxylation is from 1 to 9 moles. At least some of the PET used to generate the aromatic polyester polyether polyols is derived from recycled PET. The disclosed aromatic polyester polyether polyols have utility in preparing polyurethane materials, for example.
Semi-crystalline mixture of polyester polyols, and the use thereof
The present invention relates to a semi-crystalline mixture of polyester polyols which recrystallises upon melting and which can be obtained by polycondensing a reaction mixture comprising one or more dicarboxylic acids selected from saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acids having an even number of at least 8 methylene groups, and one or more diols selected from aliphatic diols which have at least one ether function. The invention also relates to a polymeric material which is obtained from the chemical modification of the mixture of polyester polyols with organic compounds which contain at least one isocyonate group and/or epoxide group. The mixtures and materials according to the invention are characterised by relatively low melting enthalpies, while the melting temperature can be set in a range of −30 to 60° C., meaning that it is possible to obtain easily fusible formulations containing the mixtures and materials according to the invention. The mixtures and materials according to the invention also provide such formulations with a high elasticity and breaking resistance. The present invention therefore includes the use of the polyester polyols and polymeric materials according to the invention as deforming, fusing, and extrusion means in thermoplastic materials, and the use thereof for producing adhesives and sealants, in particular hot-melt adhesives and reactive adhesives.
AROMATIC POLYESTER POLYETHER POLYURETHANE PANELS AND USEFUL MATERIALS COMPRISING SAME

The disclosure provides aromatic polyester polyether polyols and compositions comprising such polyols. FLEXIBILIZED POLYURETHANES FOR FLEXIBLE PACKAGING ADHESIVE WITHOUT AROMATIC AMINE MIGRATION
Provided is an adhesive comprising a reaction product of (A1) an aliphatic isocyanate having an NCO group content of 18 to 64 and (A2) a polyol or polyamine having a molecular weight of from 400 to 4000; and (B) a polyaspartate compound, wherein viscosity of the adhesive, as measured @ 23° C. according to ASTM D4212-16, remains below 60 seconds for after four hours, and wherein the adhesive develops an acceptable bond strength to a substrate, defined as having a minimum of 150 g/in. measured @ 23° C. according to ASTM D 1876-01 or substrate tear, in less than or equal to five days after the substrate is laminated with the adhesive. The adhesives are free of aromatic amines and may find use in multi-layered laminated films for the production of flexible packaging useful in a variety of industries, including the food processing, cosmetics, and detergents industries.
Thermoplastic polyurethanes with high moisture vapor transmission and low water absorption
A novel thermoplastic polyurethane composition is disclosed which comprise the reaction product of a polyisocyanate component, a polyol component, wherein the polyol component comprises a polyester comprising the reaction product of triethylene glycol and/or tetraethylene glycol with a diacid having 6 carbon atoms or fewer, and, optionally, a chain extender component.
LOW FREE POLYURETHANE PREPOLYMER COMPOSITION FOR REACTIVE HOT MELT ADHESIVES
The present invention relates to a reactive polyurethane prepolymer composition, which can be used as a hot melt adhesive, comprising a first polyurethane prepolymer which is the reaction product of the reaction of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) with poly(1,6-hexamethylene adipate) glycol (PHAG) with a molecular weight (Mw) of 500 g/mol to 10,000 g/mol and with an NCO content of 0.5 wt % to 7 wt %, preferably of 3 wt % to 7 wt % and more preferably of 5 wt % to 7 wt %, comprising less than 0.1 wt % free MDI monomer based on the total weight of the first polyurethane prepolymer, a second polyurethane prepolymer which is the reaction product of the reaction of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate with polypropylene glycol (PPG) or a succinic acid based polyester polyol with a molecular weight (Mw) of 250 g/mol to 4,000 g/mol and with an NCO content of 0.5 wt % to 12 wt %, preferably of 3 wt % to 11 wt % and more preferably of 5 wt % to 10 wt %, comprising less than 0.1 wt % free MDI monomer based on the total weight of the second polyurethane prepolymer, and optionally one or more catalysts, as well as a process for producing said reactive polyurethane prepolymer composition, a method for adhesively joining or sealing two substrates and the use as an hot melt adhesive.

The invention relates to a polymer (P) comprising at least one segment (S1) and at least one segment (S2) covalently linked to each other, wherein i) at least one segment (S1) has a number average molecular weight in the range of 6,000-25,000 g/mol and consists of ether repeating units, and for at least 75% by weight of repeating units of the formula —[CH.sub.2—CH.sub.2—O—]—, ii) at least one segment (S2) has a number average molecular weight of at most 10,000 g/mol and consists of ether repeating units, and for at most 25% by weight of repeating units of the formula —[CH.sub.2—CH.sub.2—O—]—, iii) polymer (P) comprises terminal groups comprising at least one of hydroxyl, primary amine or salts thereof, secondary amine or salts thereof, carboxylic acid or salts thereof.

A holographic recording medium composition contains an isocyanate group-containing compound (component (a-1)), an isocyanate-reactive functional group-containing compound (component (b-1)), a polymerizable monomer (component (c-1)), a photopolymerization initiator (component (d-1)), and a stable nitroxyl radical group-containing compound (component (e-1)). A ratio of the total weight of a propylene glycol unit and a tetramethylene glycol unit that are contained in the component (b-1) to the total weight of the component (a-1) and the component (b-1) is 30% or less.
POLYURETHANE COMPOSITIONS, PRODUCTS PREPARED WITH SAME AND PREPARATION METHODS THEREOF
A polyurethane composition is provided. The polyurethane composition comprises (A) one or more polyurethane-prepolymers prepared by reacting at least one polyisocyanate compound with a first polyol component; and (B) a second polyol component; wherein at least one of the first polyol component and the second polyol component comprises an ester/ether block copolymer polyol synthesized by reacting a starting material polyether polyol with a C.sub.4-C.sub.20 lactone. The polyurethane foam prepared by using the polyurethane composition can achieve inhibited internal heat buildup, high thermal stability and superior tear strength. A polyurethane product prepared with said foam, a method for preparing the polyurethane foam and a method for improving the performance property of the polyurethane foam are also provided.
