SEGMENT COPOLYMER FOR MAKING ICEPHOBIC COATINGS
20180215849 · 2018-08-02 ·

This invention relates to segment copolymer comprising rigid and soft segments wherein the soft segments are doped with a wax. A model polymer of this new type can be synthesized by the free radical copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) (39 wt %), lauryl, methacrylate (LMA) (10 wt %) and an adduct monomer of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and 1-dodecylamine (DDA). Doping with paraffin wax is one suitable approach to obtain the inventive material. The invention further relates to a simple and low-cost process to make these polymers and coatings comprising the polymers. Using the polymer material a coating with a highly icephobic surface can be obtained comprising soft hydrophobic micro domains segregated and stabilized by rigid copolymer on its surface. The icephobic behaviour may find new application in aerospace applications.

Sublimation ink for transfer printing

The present application provides a sublimation ink which is capable of being transferred to natural fiber fabrics, such as cotton and linen, in addition to synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, nylon, etc., and shows significantly improved color fastness. The sublimation ink may include a resin containing at least one active hydrogen, a crosslinking agent having at least two isocyanate (NCO) groups, and one or more colorants. The sublimation ink may also include one or more carriers, binders, thickeners, and/or solvents. An image can be printed on a transfer medium (e.g. paper) at room temperature with the sublimation ink using conventional offset printer so that the sublimation ink remains inactive. The image can be subsequently transferred onto any desired fabrics under heat and pressure, in which the sublimation ink is activated and bonds the colorant to the fabrics with excellent color effect.

Aqueous polyurethane dispersions

The present invention relates to radiation-curable, aqueous dispersions based on polyurethane acrylates (i), which are characterized in that the polyurethane acrylate (i) comprises as builder components A) one or more aromatic polyepoxy(meth)acrylates with an OH number of from 20 to 300 mg of KOH/g of substance, C) one or more oligo- or polyesters containing unsaturated fatty acids with an OH number of from 15 to 300 mg of KOH/g of substance and an iodine number of greater than 50 g of I.sub.2/100 g of substance, E) one or more compounds with at least one group which is reactive towards isocyanate and additionally at least one group having a hydrophilizing action and F) one or more organic polyisocyanates, a process for the preparation thereof, the use of the coating compositions as lacquers and/or adhesives, and objects and substrates provided with these lacquers and/or adhesives.
