The first ramp may include a mating feature having a first angle relative to a vertical axis, and the second ramp may include a mating feature having a second angle relative to the vertical axis such that the first angle is different from the second angle. In particular, the first and second ramps may be configured to provide for symmetrical expansion of the first and second endplates.

Delivery System for Articular Surface Implant

A implant delivery system for securing an implant to an anchor. The implant delivery system includes a driver including a shaft, a biasing body having a first end region configured to engage said driver and a second end region configured to engage a portion of an implant, and a suture extending between the anchor and the shaft of the driver. The driver may be rotated to reduce the length of the suture between the driver and the anchor and generate a biasing force urging the implant into engagement with the anchor. The biasing force is substantially not transmitted to the bone.

Flexible spine components

An improved flexible component used for dynamic stabilization of spinal segments for the treatment of vertebrae deformities and injuries and for the replacement of a complete or segment of the body of a vertebra in the spine is described. The flexible component is comprised of a solid, suitable implant material with a longitudinal bore the entire length and an appropriately formed slot which extends spirally around the shaft either continuously or segmentally. The flexible component may be encapsulated, fully or partially, in a suitable implant grade elastomeric resilient material. When used for a dynamic stabilization device, the component is attached to the vertebral bodies by pedicle screws know to those in the art. When used as a vertebral replacement device, attached to the component's opposite ends are members for attachment to the adjacent vertebra that allow for height and angular adjustment.

Method for placing implant using robotic system
09795394 · 2017-10-24 · ·

A method for placing an implant on a patient in a robotic surgical procedure using a robotic system. During the robotic surgical procedure, a navigation system tracks the patient. The navigation system also provides information to the robotic system to guide movement of a cutting tool to remove material from the patient such that a cut surface is created to receive the implant. The implant is then robotically placed on the cut surface.

Methods of designing high x-ray lucency lattice structures

The biocompatible lattice structures disclosed herein with an increased or optimized lucency are prepared according to multiple methods of design disclosed herein. The methods allow for the design of a metallic material with sufficient strength for use in an implant and that remains radiolucent for x-ray imaging.

Interbody spinal fusion device

A spinal fusion implant includes a leading end, an opposite trailing end, an upper portion extending between the leading and trailing ends, a lower portion extending between the leading and trailing ends, and opposed first and second side portions extending between the leading and trailing ends. The upper portion includes at least two rails extending between the leading and trailing ends, the at least two rails including a first rail and a second rail spaced apart from one another, the first rail of the upper portion including a bone-contacting surface being at least partially smoothened. The lower portion includes at least two rails extending between the leading and trailing ends, the at least two rails including a first rail and a second rail spaced apart from one another, the first rail of the lower portion including a bone-contacting surface being at least partially smoothened.

Increasing the breaking load of ceramic cup inserts for hip joint prostheses by a defined back side collision of the cup insert and acetabular cup
09820854 · 2017-11-21 · ·

The invention relates to an acetabular cup (4) and a cup insert (3) for a hip joint prosthesis (12), wherein the cup insert (3) is coupled to the acetabular cup by means of a clamping cone (5) of a conical clamping device in the equatorial region (7) of the two components (3, 4) and, in the unloaded state of the cup insert (3), a gap (8) is provided between the two components (3, 4) below the clamping cone (5) to the pole (6), said gap being delimited by the radial contours of the two components (3, 4). In order to reduce the tensile stresses in the cup insert, the radial contours of the two components (3, 4) have identical geometric elements in the same order, starling front the lower cone end (9) to the pole (6), and tangential or substantially tangential transitions exist between the geometric elements.

The present disclosure is directed to composite bone grafts and to methods for providing such grafts for orthopedic and other surgical uses in a subject in need thereof. In some embodiments, the present disclosure provides a method for producing a composite bone graft, the method comprising, for example, the steps of: (i) selecting at least one donor site on at least one subject; (ii) removing at least one piece of bone, comprising cortical bone, from the at least one donor site; (iii) machining the at least one piece of bone to produce at least two bone components, each having a surface comprising at least one of a protuberance and a recess thereon; and (iv) joining the at least two machined bone components to produce a composite bone graft.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SIDE INSERTION OF A BICONDYLAR MINI KNEE IMPLANT
20170290669 · 2017-10-12 ·

A bicondylar knee implants with improved fixation means for resurfacing only the weight-bearing surface of the femoral medial and lateral condyles, while preserving the cruciate ligaments and avoids displacing the patella. The inventive device includes metallic convex articular surfaces for resurfacing the medial and lateral femoral condyles, and concave multifacial non-articular surfaces to be affixed to the resected distal surfaces of the femur. The prosthesis provides claws situated at the anterior and posterior ends of the medial and lateral metallic condyles, which will firmly attach the implant against the resected femoral condyle. The prosthesis is designed to be implanted through a direct lateral approach and does not resurface the femoropatellar joint. Furthermore, a minirobot or electromechanical actuator is used to perform the femoral and tibial bone cuts using electromagnetic bone chipper.
